Have you checked the convention center schedule to see if something large is during that time. I think there is a couple thousand people (2-ish) at the Manchester G.Hyatt which would soak up some of the capacity and if there were anything else going on during that time it would definitely decrease advance availability of discount stock. Thanks for the good thoughts! It was a great weekend at a terrific property. We ended up in a harbour view room (twin beds) on a fairly high floor. Service was the impeccable Conrad 5* you'd expect.

Hi drjh...do note there is a large conference/congress that starts on Feb 15 which will probably quadruple rooms rates at most hotels. You are right in the move-in window for the exposition so it shouldn't be too bad. I'd recommend getting locked in sooner than later. Sorry, not much help on the PRICELINE bidding for Barca otherwise.

I am not 100% sure. The room that I got was with a single King bed and although relatively spacious I don't know if there would have been room for another roll-away (folding bed). I am sure there are rooms with 2 doubles but I am not sure if available with PL rooms.

This was bid on Dec-09 so I was a little liberal with the $$s. In a nutshell check-in was a breeze (@ 11am) with a room ready on the 8th floor. Facing a residential building just to the east of the JW and a partial view of the harbour and street. No street noise at all. About 15 minutes in the room housekeeping came by with my arrival ammenity...bowl of fresh fruit and a pot of chineses tea (sort of like a 'Teet Guan Yum'?). Nice one night stay before heading back to NAmerica.

2 rooms from 29-Nov to 09-Dec Bid for 5* in HK West @ $100 added HK East (no 5*) @ $110 added TsimShaTsui @ $118 No luck. I'll try after the 3 day window. It's a long shot as it is pre-holidays and also there is an intl expo out by the airport. I will ammend my results after next bidding round...still lots of time.

Just an additional datum ... Microsoft TechEd is in town just before and they have about 10000 attendees in town for that. Probably a lot of stayovers after that. Good hunting.
