  1. I was pretty sure this was the Marriott because PL showed the regular rate of $289. The Marriott is the only hotel with that rate. Amenities Listed by Priceline: Free Internet (in Public Area) Shuttle Non-Smoking Gym Restaurant Handicap Accessible Business Center
  2. Just got a Thrifty midsize rental for $7.95 per day. Three days' total including tax is $61.34. I'm happy!
  3. I used your PRICELINE link to bid TPA airport mid-size car. First bid @ $16/day was accepted. HERTZ!!! The same size is going for $62/day on the Hertz website. Nice win!!
  4. I'm still going - I kept my reservation at 6 Columbus for $375.
  5. I followed your instructions and bid as high as $325 on TS, CPS and MTW, but was still rejected. I decided not to bid higher and take the chance of a more distant hotel....I'd just end up paying for multiple roundtrip taxi fares to Columbus Circle. Thanks so much for your help. At least I know how to do it the next time!
  6. Finally got through all of these permutations and still no luck!! Reject, reject, reject... Any other suggestion?
  7. Thanks for your help. I'll try this tonight. Regarding MTE and ESB, I'm trying to stay on the West side of Manhattan as all of my activities will be located near Columbus Circle.
  8. The other 3 are: Coney Island Lower East Side Upper East Side So I should bid CPS , then the 6 rebid zones which have fewer than 4 stars? If rejected, bid MTW then the same 6 rebid zones. If rejected, bid Times Square then the same 6 rebid zones. That's it? At this point what is a good starting bid?
  9. Maybe I don't understand this....I thought that's what I was doing. Here's how I was looking at it: First bid: 4* Midtown West $260 Rebid zone1: 4* Central Park South $270 Rebid zone2: 4* Times Square $275 Rebid zone3: 4* Queensborough Bridge (there aren't any 4*) $280 Rebid zone4: 4* Morningside/Harlem (there aren't any 4*) $285 Rebid zone5: 4* Long Island City (there aren't any 4*) $290 Is that not right?
  10. Here are the zones and their highest star rating: Brooklyn 4* Central Park South 4* Chelsea Area 4* Coney Island 2* Downtown - Financial District 4* Empire State Building Area 4* Hell's Kitchen 4* Long Island City 3* Lower East Side 3-1/2* Madison Square Garden 4* Midtown East 4* Midtown West 4* Morningside Heights - Harlem 3* Queensborough Bridge 3* SoHo Tribeca 4* Times Square Theater District 5* Upper East Side 3* Upper West Side 4*
  11. I'm willing to stay in a 4* in Midtown West, Central Park South or Times Square. Maximum bid is $340 4* Midtown West Six rebid zones: 4* Central Park South 4* Times Square 4* Queensborough Bridge (there aren't any) 4* Morningside/Harlem (there aren't any) 4* Long Island City (there aren't any) 4* Coney Island (there aren't any) Thanks for your help. I've used your link for every bid.
  12. Can you clarify your advice? It sounds like you are saying I should rebid again using this same formula, and with the same starting bid of $260. Wouldn't that just result in the same rejections? Can you be more specific? Thanks, I really appreciate your help.
  13. Still no luck. I bid: 4* Midtown West $260 4* Central Park South $270 4* Times Square $275 4* Queensborough Bridge (there aren't any) $280 4* Morningside/Harlem (there aren't any) $285 4* Long Island City (there aren't any) $290 I know rates are high that weekend, but am I doing this right???
  14. My question wasn't very clear. What I mean is....if I click the link to start all over again, can I start at a lower bid than my last bid of $275? Here's what I'm considering: 4* Midtown West $260 4* Central Park South $265 4* Times Square $270 4* Queensborough Bridge (there aren't any) $275 4* Morningside/Harlem (there aren't any) $280 4* Long Island City (there aren't any) $285 Does this make any sense, or should I start this bidding at $275 and keep going up?
  15. Still rejected - up as high as $275. Here's what I bid last night. 12/29/2012 12/30/2012 Midtown West, Central Park South, Long Island City, Queensborough Bridge $275 12/29/2012 12/30/2012 Midtown West, Queensborough Bridge, Central Park South $255 12/29/2012 12/30/2012 Midtown West, Central Park South $240 There are no 4* in Long Island City or QBridge, so I used them for re-bids. I can add Times Square area but have a question.... If I start my bidding all over again, what's the best strategy at this point? I'd take a 4* in either Central Park South, Midtown West or Times Square. I'd go up at high as $300-325. Thanks for your help.
  16. Hmm....that makes a lot of sense. I did make a refundable reservation as a backup. I'll try Midtown West, Times Square and Madison Square Garden. Stay tuned.
  17. I bid up as high as $300 but was still rejected.
  18. HOTWIRE has nothing less than $393 for a 4*. I can book directly for less than that.
  19. I've bid up as high as $260 but no luck. I see that hotel prices for that date are through the roof, so I'm not surprised my bid was unsuccessful. I'm trying to decide whether to continue to bid higher and roll the dice on a hotel, or just pay $375 for the exact hotel location I prefer. I may just let this one go. What are your thoughts?
  20. Yes, I figured it out. It looks like I'll have to increase my maximum. I don't see any 4* for less than $350 for that date.
  21. First bid was rejected, so I'm working through the strategy.
  22. Thanks for your suggestions. I'll try it this week and will check back with you.
  23. Can you help with my bidding strategy? My preference is a 4* property in Central Park South zone. As a last resort, I'd take a 4* in a) Midtown West or B) Upper West Side. Maximum bid would be about $250. Thanks for your help.
  24. Success! I got the Intercontinental on 2/28/2010 - 3/1/2010 for $72. I started my rebidding at $57 for Tampa Airport Westshore - rejected Added Tampa Stadium zone at $68 - rejected Added Airport North zone at $72 - accepted. Total is $88.77 including taxes and fees. This was my first successful bid on PRICELINE. Thank you all for your help.
