  1. Was not sure how much to bid, just less than Hotwire. So bid $69 and won on first try. Looks as I should be happy with it - best location, chance to gamble a bit nearby - so I am ! Their best AAA rate is $144.
  2. Using our PRICELINE link and thanks to slruud's priceline winning bid post I tried the same bid - risky at this season time and with no rebid chance - but it worked ! Tried since several days an extension of our Monace stay or other 4* with no success. But if the reason of our extension were Powell's Book City (my dear wife will need one full day !) this kind of Marriott next to the stores will do it as well - for this nice rate :)
  3. Wondering that no one 4 or 3.5 star in Spokane, got 3* on first try. Now I hope on a new remodeled room as reviews don't look that good. But the rate does :) Their best own prepaid rate is $125. Forgot to mention: Of course I used this PRICELINE link :) before I'll get blamed :o
  4. Tiggeruth, please find the answer in your Priceline Westin win. Thanks.
  5. Nice to see that you were successful too LindaK - you even did better than I did before. Congratulation. By the way, was reading reviews about their "pet-embracing" behaviour and wrote my concerns about us humans that don't like dogs. I got a very nice answer from the mangement - so really very attentive. Enjoy your stay.
  6. Using the PRICELINE link, for last day before leaving US bid $39 on Gresham first (preferable for us) with no sucess, and then was not patient enough to wait 24 hours (no rebid zones) and expanded on PDX. Won. Another review indicates that HI would take all over $30 however their own best rate is $79. According to other reviews an old and "shabby" hotel, but let's see ... I think depending on the room we'll get.
  7. Thanks for the hint LindaK. You know what ? Excatly that was already my intension when I figured out the "SmartPark" garage on 3rd. and Alder, also that it's free onside on weekends. Nice that you confirmed as a "local" that I was right, thanks.
  8. Thanks Thereuare. In general I know so I have to take it as punishment for not doing that. And of course I used the PRICELINE link as I always do. And guys you all should do so for this excellent board !
  9. Thanks for encouragement and the hint, inspiration100. Very appreciated :)
  10. Preferred to stay directly in Coeur d'Alene and with Priceline I was sceptic already but gave him a try. As to Murphy "What can go wrong that will go wrong". As I know that area is a bit more expensive mainly on weekends, so I started with $49 and "won" on first try - no wonder in Post Falls. Their own best rate is $113. So we'll visit Coeur d'Alene by car ...
  11. Nice experience. Used the PRICELINE link, bid 69 - counter offer +17. Closed browser, startet again with 70 - counter offer +22 !? Closed again. Started with 55 and ending 69 with no success using the plenty of rebids. After new start with 72 then 75. Bingo. And Monaco ! Tripadvisor #3 in Portland. Their best rate 169. So I'm very happy :) with the result though parking will be "another more night" fee ...
  12. Used the PRICELINE link, first try and "won" - bid too much ? No good reviews but own net rate $159 so what. However nearly one more "night rate" for car parking ... city rates :)
  13. Just to let you all know, using the PRICELINE link of this board I got the Hamburg Intercontinental after $110 was rejected. Was 10 days ago, sorry had not time to post it.
  14. Hi Monkey999, Yes you're right that construction work is taking place. My suggestion: Just ask for a new renovated room, and you'll get a fairly good value for money, far away from construction noise. Another suggestion: Try to avoid taking breakfast in the hotel. It's expensiv and you'll be in the middle of construction dust. And the service there is horrible ... our experience 3 weeks ago. Enjoy your stay.
  15. It was the HI in Bath. Headline was "created" by our moderator ... :)
  16. Hi ChrustyMc This was be the best deal you could ever do. We're just back from our US New England trip, and I must say that our 2-days stay at the luxury Renaissance Providence (same price $60) was the best hotel experience that we ever did for that price. So have a great stay too.
  17. Hi together, was successful with our last hotel booked this way, of course using the PRICELINE link, during our New England trip. Tried to get 3 days for strolling around in this beautyful area. Was not that easy over several days and it needed to bid more than I wanted: First around $50, then $69 and even $79 for 2* - all rejected. As mentioned decided to increase my bid and started 3* and $99 - accepted on first try - perhaps I little bit too much. Although their own advanced payment rate is only $129 I still have saved a bit over 3 nights. So I should by happy and want to thank you all supporting this board mainly to you Thereuare. It is always a great help :) for orientation.
  18. Hi Thereuare, Of course I used your PRICELINE link - would never do otherwise as I know to appreciate your job and this board very much.
  19. Hi together, Just my experience: On basis of other members tried $89 first and got the counter offer to increase by $22 - ignored it. Started the browser again and tried $94 using another rebid zone - rejected. Then $99 by another rebid zone - accepted. I'm happy with this as their lowest own net prepaid rate would be $199.
  20. Hi together, again a great deal :) on first try - thanks to other board members experiences - and using the PRICELINE link. Number 1 tripadvisor rated with excellent reviews. So I`m happy with the result and THIS BOARD, thanks ! Their own net advanced payment rate is $199 - what a saving.
  21. Hi all together, Another "success" during our US summer trip. Using the PRICELINE link, started bidding for 3* and hoping for Portsmouth (Kittery outlets area). All rebids from $45 up to 65 rejected. Started the browser again and then 2.5* from 39/45/49/54 and "won". Best Western York Inn's own net prepaid rate for 1Q-bed room is $81. My conclusion, looking at the total amount including fees and for only 1 night, Priceline is not always worth it - but it's a nice game ... :) isn't it ?
  22. Thanks to this board and some investigation, and of course using the PRICELINE link, I started with $95 and using the rebid zones up to $99/$105/$109 - and finally won. Westin's own net prepaid rate offer is $159.20 already promoted by a rebate. It's a weekend ...
  23. Thanks, you are very right Thereuare. In the meantime I have read that the hotel is under construction. So I have to take it as it is and to make the best of it ... perhaps to get a new renovated room :)
