  1. Used BB PRICELINE link. Tried 4* and 3,5* as well up to $70 with no success. Happy with this 3* though.
  2. Thanks Thereuare for both, the new headline and your suggestion. I do understand very well :) so I'll wait for better options at end of this year, perhaps on PRICELINE. Take care.
  3. Hi together, Please, could somebody help me out with the name of this 3* TOP SECRET hotel: Savannah Midtown - Historical Courtesy Breakfast Non-Smoking High-Speed Internet Their own Traveller Rating 4 of 5 Room rate USD 201,78 Looks that it is a very busy time (St.Patricks Parade) so that I'm keen to act early enough for Savannah. Thanks - of course I'll use the BB link. Same as for all next hotel biddings on Priceline for our trip, but that seems definately too early now.
  4. We recently stayed at Hudson for 5 days. Knowing about all that things about "notoriously" small rooms we asked at checkin for an upgrade - and got it for $60 per nite. Evaluate yourself if it's worth. Regarding TA reviews I agree that they vary between worst and best - for me depending on what was expected and also on the age :) and the tolerance with other poeple. Our experience: Average Hudson guests are younger poeple. And not only the loud music, the bar and the alcohol is one of the most enjoyd things every nite. All together is not very funny for poeple who like to sleep during the nite. Conclusion: It's not always the hotel itself that makes quality - all young guys may forgive me. But on the other hand you can delight in poeple who enjoy a hotel with such flair :) sometimes only that makes the difference between one TA review and another one ...
  5. After the vulcanic ash disaster and flight cancellations now the next one :) Our rebooked flight goes 5 days later now, so I needed new hotel bookings. Using our PRICELINE link, with no sucess I tried yesterday 3.5* and 4* for all usual zones, MTE/MTW/ESB/TS, but 3.5 not for CPS - know about the Hudson risk. Started again today, first MTE then MTW and then, not careful enough and still 3.5*, extended with CPS - and "won" the Hudson. Their own prepaid rate is only $217. Angry about myself, grrr. Pro: We got all 5 days in one block, so don't need to move again. By the way, our previous PRICELINE booking should have been cancelled and refunded after I talked to the supervisor "Jo". Great service ! However, didn't get the written confirmation yet. I think that thousands will have the same problems ... how fast did you guys get the answer ?
  6. Hi all together, just to let you know that my tomorrow Swiss flight into NYC also was cancelled. Thanks to you other guys I contacted Priceline immediately and successful: They will refund the full amount of two hotel reservations without any problems. The good news is that I managed to rebook the flight on next Sunday - hopefully the ash will have gone then ... crossing my fingers. So our NYC trip fortunately has only moved on some days later. Thanks again to all of you, was a great help for my own decisions :) what would we do without this board !
  7. Uuups, I see it's HOTWIRE and not PRICELINE. That might be different * ratings. Sorry.
  8. I'm just wondering and therefore this question: Was ES newly upgraded from 3.5* to 4 * on PRICELINE ?
  9. Hi IIh58, Embassy Suites is nearly impossible to get, as it is 3.5* on PRICELINE. I also would be happy to win it, however before that you would probably win 'Club Quarters' or any else, also 3.5*. So just be aware of that. And it's not depending on the bidding amount. You would only overbid if going higher ... Nevertheless, good luck !
  10. For these last two days of our NYC stay it needed some patience and it would burst this frame if I told all that I tried. Only this: I need Downtown area only, so since a long time I tried, of course always using our PRICELINE link, to bid first 4* between $129 - $159, then 3.5* between $116 - $149 and at last 3* for $89 - $ 99, all with no success every time. As reported earlier, in Nov. 2009 (!) I won an MTE hotel for the first 5 days of our stay in April - this as additional comment regarding "to bid earlier or later" :) Today, 4* finished, started 3.5* this time with $119 and got Club Quarters on first try. Perhaps overbid. OK, not my dream. However I watched also their rates all the time. HOTWIRE's cheapest rate on one day was $145, their own rate is $239, so I should be happy with the result I ended up. Thanks again to all of you who support this great board, specially to the Moderators :) , always appreciated.
  11. Thanks Yellowdog. This was my intension as well when I tried to look on their own website. Was wondering because according to a message they have no rooms to accept a reservation. Why that ?! Shouldn't they normally try to sell for better prices first, before going on HOTWIRE ? Anyway, as mentioned I'll try on PRICELINE as it's time enough ... hoping not to get Club Quarters as well. But if then at least for a lower bid.
  12. from April 26 until April 28 (2 nights) Amenities: Fitness Center, Laundry Facilities, HS Internet Recommended 75% of customer reviews Any suggestions ? Thanks, and I'll use our link - as always. Priceline is still my other option :)
  13. Thanks Thereuare. Our first NYC experience we had two years ago during Christmas season - awful, we loved it. We love the US as you might feel. During that stay we enjoyed the New York Philharmonic Orchestra (Messias) and the New York Ballett (Nutcracker). We also visited the MOMA, unbelievable. This time we have already ordered tickets for West Side Story. If you Thereuare or you other guys had any more "must" for us NYC tourists we would appreciate your hints very much. However we need to improve our english, to follow each detail if we visited a "spoken" theatre. You often need - just to catch the jokes ... We'll stay 5 days in midtown and 3 days in downtown. Well I know, no problem using the excellent metro system. How is about visiting a Gospel Sunday Service in Harlem ? Would you suggest such one (if yes - where ?) or is it only a tourist show then, or perhaps not safe enough ? Other suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance to everybody.
  14. Have time enough but after I succeeded very early for the first 5 days of our April NYC trip (as already reported in this priceline win) I tried since weeks for 3 days from Sun until Wen, with no success. Knowing that the Sun/Mon nite is not that expensive mainly in Finance District, I split my bid for Sunday only. Started a low-ball-bid with $109 and got the counter offer to raise about $22 but refused. Used the rebids, $112 and $115 not accepted but $119 was accepted ! Last I wanted was Club Quarter but fortunately got the Marriott. However to extend our stay, was only offered for $235 what I refused. As mentioned: I have time ... Very very happy with the result and I'll try very relaxed for the next last 2 days of our stay. Used the PRICELINE link of this great site.
  15. Used the link of this site. Next to my "win" before of the same W Hotel I tried again for this part of 3 days. To be honest: Hoped to get another hotel. But IF THE SAME, I tried to bid below the first deal of $146: From 142-143-144-145-146 bingo, result = W Hotel. So for sure not overbid. But as mentioned in the other toppic, my wife doesn't like to change the room so we're very happy with the result: 5 days in same hotel for an affordable rate. Not that bad. And now we'll start looking for further 3 days, but in downtown. Will report how it goes ... if successful.
  16. We've already got the flight to NYC in April 2010, so why not ask Priceline. I know, to get really good deals it's much too early. But that's my way. So always using the link of this site, I started several times from $129 in different steps up to $160 in MTE, MTW, TS, CPS with no success. Today: 129 - 135 - 142 - 146 and "won" W Hotel. Well, not my favorite but that's it. However these 2 days are only a part of our stay and my dear wife doesn't like to change the hotel room. So I started the other dates as well - if interested please look at the second new toppic.
  17. I can't tell you anything about balconies and similars, also don't want to give a review. Just want to add that I would never bid on 3.5* again in that area. The chance to "win" the Renaissance is quite high and even the suggestion (though thanks again to inspiration100) to ask for a high floor room away from interstate I5 doesn't help if they don't have or are not willing (?) to give you such a room. Looking at this boards other 4* wins like Westin I get really galling ... due to the noise it was a horrible stay at Renaissance :) So my suggestion to all who don't like the risk: Start bidding only on 4* or others - but not 3.5*
  18. Hi Joe, I'm also not an US resident as you might see - but it works fine for me, even bidding on hotels in Europe, in my case in my hometown. Funny. On the adress screen I used '99999' as zip code together with the state CA. Don't know if the city is important then, but I used San Francisco. Anyway, PRICELINE is only interested in your credit card number and nothing else :)
  19. Hi Thereuare, As it's always my intension to support this board I'll follow your suggestion. Thanks to your job and all other members I think we all saved a lot bucks so why not credit to this board ? For me it's always a MUST !
  20. Thanks a lot - it looks really stupid because I never looked into that, but now have learned :) They want me to buye a vacation package: I got a $50 bonus offer for that but would never use it. However I'd better watched it from time to time. Or is it like an account and would be credited automatically on next bid if the bid matches their conditions ? Then I don't need ... Thanks again Justin L.
  21. Just a question about that "Bonus Cash". How did you get it ? Did you as a precondition register yourself somewhere, or did Priceline the offer without any support of yourself ? Perhaps a stupid question and I never noticed a comment though I did some Priceline deals in the meantime.
  22. "Wining not allowed" I know. So again as a warning: What can go wrong that WILL go wrong - the more with Priceline. While other 2* go for at least $108 and more, this was the only one for less. On a small market I bid - and of course got La Quinta. I'd better know ... Their best AAA rate however is only $62.10 :) I'll take it as one more experience. Used the PRICELINE link.
  23. Just to let you all know that I got it on first try, using our PRICELINE link. Not that deal, but less than their own best prepaid $98.
  24. Forgot to mention that I used our PRICELINE link. Sorry Moderator :)
