  1. Thank you, but cancel this thread. I'm reconsidering travel itinerary and will begin a new thread once I begin booking.
  2. My previous post was a cut/paste of the amenities listed on the HOTWIRE site.
  3. $29!! How did you get that? Here are the amenities listed: Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services
  4. oops, This is for june 15-17th this year. Thanks.
  5. Found this 4* accomodation in Reno South - Reno/Tahoe Airport - Sparks for $39 / night Amenities listed are: Casino, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Golf and Tennis Nearby I don't know the area at all, so any input on the location would be useful as well. Thanks very much.
  6. Needed a hotel for a single night in Coos Bay. The only 3* listed was the Red Lion in Coos Bay with a rate of $99/night. As there are no nearby rebid zones, I started my bidding using the PRICELINE link at $59 and it was accepted. The hotel website shows a pool as an amenity, but it is not listed in the winning bid. The pool is seasonal and unavailable right now.
  7. The property we got was the Colonnade. Highly recommend the property. well maintained and convenient.
  8. I needed a room for a couple nights this weekend so came here to see what kind of action everyone has been getting via Priceline and Hotwire. It looks like it's been pretty quiet lately. Most recent bidding successes for 4* properties appeared to be coming in around $129, so I started my bidding at $99. First bid was accepted at the Westin Downtown Portland... maybe should've started lower, but I'm happy to get the Westin for $99.
  9. Thanks for the help! Well, for the first time, I wasn't successful using Priceline to secure a hotel via PRICELINE. Hotwire was showing 3 properties meeting our criteria for those days, priced from $239-274. I was able to ID all of them using the Hotwire hotel list. I used the bidding strategy above, with slight modifications. I believed my target price was too low. so I began bidding at $125 and increased in increments of $5 using the the 3 rebid zones. That took me to about $180. I bid again the following day, but stopped bidding once I hit $210 with no wins. Maybe because of the late date it was only 10 days from check-in) there appears to be no inventory of 4* in those zones to bid on. Using HOTWIRE, I'll be taking a 4* in Copley that currently lists for $274. There are better deals to be had in other zones, but as long as we're going to pay as much as we are, I may as well take the property in the zone we want which has the amenities we prefer. I believe the property is the Colonnade. I'll post more after I secure the room; as of now HOTWIRE link is dead (I think HOTWIRE site is down right now.)
  10. Thanks for the reply, thereuare "Are you willing to bid all three of these zones?" Yes, but I'd put Copley and Quincy as 'much preferred' over Cambridge, as like you stated, Cambridge might put us too far away from the heart of downtown. "...so not sure if convenience or budget are a priority" In order of preference, we'd list our priorities as 1. Location (convenience) 2. Quality (MIN of 3*) 3. Cost (I've seen some posts made suggesting rooms can be booked for less than I mentioned earlier, but those are my preferred MAX bids... for now, at least. :) "Let us know which zone(s) you're willing to bid" Copley & Quincy are primary targets. "...and if you prefer to try for a 4* up to your budget first" Yes. This is our first choice. "Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases." Will do! Thanks again.
  11. Hello, Can someone please help me create a bidding strategy for me for Boston, MA for the nights of 4/28 4/29 and 4/30? This is actually for a family member who will be in town to see a Red Sox game. Neither of us has ever been to Boston, so I'm unfamiliar with the city, its good areas, and its "less desirable" areas. Looking at the Priceline maps, it looks like Zone 4 (Copley) is the closest to Fenway, while Zones 3 and 6 (Cambridge and Quincy) are about equidistant. Looking at Hotwire maps, it looks like Zone D (Copley back Bay) is closest, while zone C (Boston Common) is next. Cambridge zone is huge with Hotwire, so it appears we could end up miles from the park. I'd like to get one room for those three nights, spending no more than, say, $120 for a 3-star or $180 for a 4-star. Thanks for your help.
  12. Also, I used savingsbarn link to make the rez! Thanks again.
  13. Tried for Downtown Vancouver 4* Started bids at $110, rejected. Added a zone and bid $120, rejected. Also rejected $130 to $169 using additional zones and logging off/on and starting again. Priceline and Hotwire were showing rates from $294 on up for those dates. Changed dates to 7/29-7/31 (dropped Saturday 7/28) started bids at $130 and finally won at $145. After winning, I followed the link to "add additional dates" -- added 7/28 and it was accepted! Thanks for the site and the assistance.
