  1. Wasn't having any luck with 3 or 2.5 stars, so tried $34 in the east zone and won. Reviews look good.
  2. Was trying for a 2, 2.5, or 3* hotel in either Dayton North or Dayton NorthWest (airport area). Started at $30 and worked my way up to $35 which was accepted by 2.5* Ramada Plaza North. I wanted the Hawthorne Suites, but we'll see how the Ramada is. I believe the Ramada Plaza is the old Holiday Inn North? Another comment - I'm generally seeing a lower price when my stays fall over weekends - on all hotel types other than those that cater to holiday travellers. Note: the BetterBidding hotel list shows the Ramada Plaza North as 3*, but it appears it is now 2.5* Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $35.00 Subtotal: $140.00 Taxes & Fees: $27.52 Total Charges*: $167.52
  3. Looks like Priceline has created two new areas: Indianapolis NorthEast - Fishers Indianapolis Keystone - Carmel out of the old Indianapolis North - Fishers area. Can anyone tell me how the old North-Fishers hotels fit into the two new areas?
  4. After staying at the Fairfield Inn at IND for 6 days - here's a quick review: Clean and acceptable, but a half step in quality below other Fairfield Inns & Suites I've stayed at. Maybe that's because I've previously always got a really nice suite. I asked if they could upgrade me to a suite at this hotel, but they said my Priceline rate didn't allow them to upgrade me. Darn. But they did give me a decent room with 2 great double beds, quiet enough on the 3rd floor, but no fridge/microwave. At $34 + tax/fees - it was a good deal. I did noticed the hotel was pretty empty - only a few others on my floor.
  5. Started bidding at $30 & used the speedway free rebid. At $32 got the 'add $8 and bid again' offer, but waited another day and won at $34. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $34.00 Subtotal: $204.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $41.91 Total Charges*: $245.91
  6. I've been bidding on rent cars for ORD for a couple days. Started at $15 and wanted Mid or larger. Got a full size for $17 - much better price than my direct rental 'alternative' via Ace Rent Car at $225. Sorry, didn't remember to use your PRICELINE link, but I'll do it next time. Your Offer Price: $17.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 7 days Subtotal: $119.00 Taxes and Fees: $49.43 Total Charges: $168.43
  7. LAX rent cars have been high via PRICELINE in the last year or two. Don't know why. 2+ years ago they had great prices. But my alternative is to go to www.carrentals.com and see what they have. They seem to be lowest. Then I always try Deluxe Rental A Car and Fox Car Rental. I've used them both and they're ok. You can probably get Deluxe at $40 or lower per day.
  8. One Saturday night - Sept 27, 2008. Started bidding 2.5* in Worthington Area at $30, got the 'add $8 to bid again' line, so used free rebids and won at $33. Then I was surprised - I thought I was getting the 2.5* Best Western but got the Hyatt Place! Probably cause it was a Sat night. Fees are pretty high at $13 for one night. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $33.00 Subtotal: $33.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.72 Total Charges*: $45.72
  9. Bid and won $38 first try. The Courtyard is supposed to be a nice hotel in downtown Springfield - per reviews in tripadvisor. We'll see! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $38.00 Subtotal: $76.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.00 Total Charges*: $94.00
  10. won at $38 first try. Taxes & fees for the 4 days were an additional $33.14. I've stayed at the Hyatt Place at IND, but this is the first time at Country Inn & Suites. I hope it's as nice.
  11. I started bid at $38, got offer to rebid by increasing $11, but added another zone instead and won at $40. Should be a nice hotel - I've really liked other Hyatt Place I've stayed at. Tax + fees seem to be increasing at PL - $13.35 for one night - which seems high.
  12. Needed a weekend hotel at the PIT airport, and I saw the 2.5* Marriott Courtyard had been going for around $36. I started bidding at $31 (got the 'increase your bid by $8' note), but instead added free rebid at $32 - but no go. Next night bid at $33 and won. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $33.00 Subtotal: $66.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.01 Total Charges*: $83.01
  13. Thanks Thereuare for the feedback. Yeah, I'm sure glitches do occur. It sounds like you have good insight into Priceline's workings - If you know, it would be interesting for me to hear how Priceline's client hotels feed in their minimum acceptable price and number of rooms available. Is it some form of software calendar where they input numbers of rooms and prices? I assume it would have to let the hotels change the numbers of rooms on the fly - depending on their real-time conventional bookings. But what happens if they overbook? Plus, it seems to me that some hotels like ESA and Residence Inn would prefer multiple night reservations over single nighters. It would make sense if they could award multiple nighters lower costs than single nighters. There really could be lots of permutations!
  14. I was reading on another site where a poster had his bid rejected, then added a 2nd zone and rebid at a lower price. He had the lower bid accepted in the 1st zone. The implication was that Priceline might be applying advanced logic to squeeze out more profits. I
  15. I love priceline. I always use it when we travel and I get rooms that exceed my expectations 80% of the time for great rates. But I do spend the time to research hotel star levels-reviews-costs-locations and I feel I know what to expect from priceline. I can see however, that if you don't do the research and you have uninformed expectations, you may be disappointed with what you get. I'd assume that's where the bulk of negative priceline feedback comes from.
  16. Won 2 rooms for 2 nights at the 2.5* Milwaukee (South) Holiday Inn & Suites Airport, Oct 12-14, 2007 at $45. Holiday Inn And Suites Milwaukee Airport 2
  17. Stayed here Oct 2007 and it is very new and nice. Large rooms with large bathrooms - upscale. Paid $45 and would stay here again.
  18. Stayed Oct 2007. This Residence Inn is a decent hotel - but it's not up to normal Residence Inn standards. It's older, hint of dirty - a paint job and carpets would do wonders. Beds are bit hard. Did have free breakfast.
  19. Won the 2.5* Dayton (North) Residence Inn North for one night at $46. Dayton North 7070 Poe Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45414 937-898-7764 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $46.00 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.59 Total Charges*: $59.59 Decent hotel - not up to normal Residence Inn standards. It's older, hint of dirty - a paint job and carpets would do wonders. Beds are bit hard. Did have free breakfast.
  20. Posting a previous win for info: Won the Staybridge Suites Oakbrook Terrrace 2
  21. posting previous win for info: Won 3* Doubletree in Lowell - which is in the priceline Salem, NH - Andover area (Billerica Tewksbury) - Sept 3-5 2007, 1 room for 2 nights at $32. Doubletree Hotel Lowell 3-star Billerica - Tewksbury Area 50 Warren Street Lowell, Massachusetts 01852 978-452-1200 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $32.00 Subtotal: $64.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.19 Total Charges*: $78.19 Some folks don't like this Doubletree - but I find it charming and a great bargain. Wireless internet is not complementary ($10/day), but the Doubletree beds are great - the rest of the room was big and acceptable (not new, but ok). I found the town of Lowell kinda' charming in it's own way. My wife and I took the national parks walking tours related to Lowell's industrial revolution cotton mill history - and it was interesting. Plus, it was nice to be able to walk around a downtown area and be safe.

  23. Won 2.5* Holiday Inn Tewksbury Andover for Oct 14-20, 2007 Holiday Inn Tewksbury Andover 4 Highwood Drive Tewksbury, Massachusetts 01876 978-640-9000 Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $55.00 Subtotal: $330.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $44.83 Total Charges for Original Reservation*: $374.83 Normally stay at the Lowell Doubletree when in the are, as it has some great values, but it was completely booked at this time. So bid for 2.5 & 3* hotels in the area up and finally got this one at $55 per night.
  24. posting previous win for info: Won the 3* Springfield Holyoke Holiday Inn for 3 nights Aug 22-25, 2007 for $46 per night.
