  1. Thanks for the help! We ended up going with Priceline Express and indeed it was the Four Points Sheraton Miami Beach! 3.5 star hotel for $141 a night. Expensive weekend in the area with the South Beach Food and Wine Festival but we got a great deal. Used the links and appreciate the help once again.
  2. Thanks. I thought I had tied up all my threads in the past. I did a search on old threads and didn't see anything outstanding. Perhaps I missed something. Sorry. Thanks for the BiddingHelper.com tool. I will try that. I agree we don't want anything 50-65% but willing to compromise a little when price and location are most important. I will update when we make our choice. I do have a hotel to contribute to the lists. I did an unsuccessful priceline search for a 4 star hotel in South Beach which unlocked a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal. The Price line Express 3 star South Beach Central hotel on my list above is the Crest Hotel Suites. Thanks for the response.
  3. Hello! Thanks for this site! Member since 2007. I hope I've added something to the lists. Spending four nights in Miami Beach area 2/25/16 - 2/29/16. Wanted to know if I could get some educated best guesses on some hotels I found on Hotwire and Priceline Express. Our budget is around $150 a night. Guess we're leaning towards the resort on the beach in Miami Beach area if only allowed help with one. Thanks in advance! Miami Beach, FL / Two guests, 2/25/16 - 2/29/16: Hotwire: 3.5 Star Miami Beach South Area Resort $154 (normally $193) Free Internet, Beach front, Business Center, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Smoke-Free Rooms, $12 Resort Fee, Bed Choice 60% Recommended, 3.5/5 TripAdvisor (2001+ reviews) 3.5 Star Miami Beach South Area Hotel $149 (30% off, normally $212) Free Internet, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant 65% Recommended, 3.5/5 TripAdvisor (1001-1500 reviews) 3 Star Central South Beach $124 (49% off) Free Internet, $20 Resort Fee 50% Recommended, 3/5 TripAdvisor (301-500 reviews) Priceline Express: 3.5 Star Miami Beach Area Hotel $150 (38% or more off, normally $242) Rated 7+ Business Center, Free Internet, Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Fitness Center 3 Star South Beach Central $152 (22% or more off, normally $195) Restaurant, Free Internet, Indoor or Outdoor Pool
  4. Ah. Flying in, but not into Laguardia or JFK. So probably taking a train/bus into the city. Coming on Skybus out of Columbus, OH. I need to figure out my transportation options into the city. We fly into some small airport about an hour out of the city. But, for $10 flights each way, I can't complain. It's going to be the cheapest long weekend in NYC as far as getting to and from. We have an 11:30am flight out, so probably going to be an early morning getting an hour out of the city to the airport. I'll try that Friday-Monday grouping and Monday-Tuesday by itself. I don't plan on bidding for a little while.
  5. Thanks. I would even consider a 2.5* hotel? The only thing I wouldn't want is a hotel with shared bathrooms which some new york city hotels seem to have at certain service levels. But, scanning the NYC priceline hotel list I don't see anything alarming. Does priceline even work with hotels like that? It seems like they wouldn't due to the severe backlash that would occur from customers? Also, In your expert opinion (yes, I think you would be considered an expert :) ) : Do you think I have a better chance of getting a cheaper average nightly rate by splitting my hotel request into Friday/Saturday and Sunday/Monday? Or in your experience is that not always the case, it just works sometimes?
  6. Hello everyone. I've used this board for a couple trips. Thanks to all for the great advice. I'm planning a trip to NYC this July (11-15 / Friday through Tuesday). I'm trying to find out if it is possible to budget a priceline hotel for $100 a night ($100 plus fees per night would be okay). I'm familiar with the concepts of free re-bid zones and don't mind splitting my bid into Friday/Saturday and Sunday/Monday if it will help. I've also scanned my dates on hotwire (4* $192 MTE was available, seems to have disappeared for the time being, now showing 4* Central Park $219). My question is: I'm not a very picky traveller and would trade down to a 2.5/3* to save some $$$. I've stayed at the Comfort Inn Midtown. That was fine. I'd even prefer a neighborhood stay like UES or UWS, or Soho over the more touristy areas. I see 4* wins, dependent on dates, down to $120. Is it possible to get $100/ a night if I'm willing to sacrifice star level? Or do you have to bid to at least $120 regardless of star level and then priceline upgrades you to a 4* when you hit the right price? Anyone saving money going with a 3 star manhattan hotel?
  7. 8/22, 1 night, 2 adults Amenities: Near Beach, Ocean Front, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Facilities, Golf Nearby. 60 + tripadvisor reviews, last reviewed in July (3.5 out of 5) I'm thinking this actually might be The Cliffs Resort? Utilizing the tripadvisor information seems to point towards that hotel. Confirmation? Also, what is the overall HOTWIRE experience tell about a hotel like this which offers different rates depending on ocean view or non ocean view? Do you always get the cheap room? I ask becasue I can get this rate at other places if it doesn't include an ocean view.
  8. Is anyone able to tell, or give an educated guess as to whether the 3.5 hotwire hotel is indeed the Best Western Shore Cliff Lodge? Listed for 8/22, 1 night, 2 adults for $171. Same price given as the allotment of rooms easyclicktravel had. Thanks I have and will use the appropriate links to help support betterbidding.
  9. I'm looking at staying along Pismo Beach, CA on 8/22, 1 night, 2 adults. I found a hotel with a discounted rate on easyclicktravel Best Western Shore Cliff Lodge. I'm attempting to get the room, but the reservation is "on request" so it's not confirmed yet. I think I now see the same hotel on hotwire. Could be just a coincidence, but plugging in the date and 2 adults, appears to bring up a hotel that matches the Best Western Shore Cliff Lodge, including the same rate on EasyClickTravel travel of $171. I'm wondering is there any reason the reservation would be refused through easyclicktravel? Since it appears the same hotel is able to be booked through hotwire? Does hotwire have more pull for any reason? Just wondering if my request is refused by easyclicktravel should I go the hotwire route? Does the hotwire hotel appear to be Best Western Shore Cliff Lodge with the supplied date? Thanks.
  10. Ended up stretching our budget and was upgraded from a 2.5 star to the 4 star Inter Continental hotel in Beverly Hills/ Century City for $100 a night. I think the location of the hotel is a good balance for us. Right off Santa Monica Blvd. Short drive west to Santa Monica. Short drive east to Beverly Hills/ West Hollywood. The only disappointment is the $30 valet only parking charge per night shown on the hotel's website. I expected 15, 20, but not $30 and valet only!!! Any overnight parking alternatives in that area? Thanks for all the help. I used the priceline savingsbarn link.
  11. Yeah. No luck up to $75 for the last couple of days. I guess I'll have to bring other areas into play.
  12. Yes. Up to $75 in all three zones (Santa Monica, BH-WH, and Hollywood) using Lawndale as a free rebid zone. That's a good idea. And we are flying in/out of Burbank. I'm just wondering if the B-U-G zone is as convenient to the touristy stuff as opposed to opening up to the possibility of staying downtown? Perhaps a 3* downtown for around $60-75 + $20 to park? I've been using the savingsbarn.com link.
  13. Hey. I'm actually trying to priceline a hotel on the north side of the airport. But, I thought if that doesn't work out this hotwire hotel near the airport might be a good fall back if still available. Can you help with identifying it? Thanks. Dates: 8/24-8/27 3.5 Star Hotel in LAX area Came up as Customer favorite $63/ a night Amenities: Shuttle, Pool, Business Center, High Speed Internet, Fitness Center, Restaurant, Laundry Facilities Thank you.
  14. I tried the above bidding strategies the past two days up to $75 with no luck. Any suggestions?
  15. Sorry. Quick question. When you say "if rejected, add re-bid zone", do you mean, in this example, add the Lawndale zone?
  16. Whoops. $50 winning bid. First bid. Hotwire was showing $63.
  17. Colfax. Thanks for the reply. My girlfriend and I are trying to balance being near the things we want to do (beach one day, hollywood/west hollywood/melrose ave one day, universal studios one day) vs. keeping the costs down and not fighting traffic for an hour each way where we want to go. And any semblance of a neighborhood would also be nice. I know the big deals seem to be near the airport and to a lesser extent downtown. Am I right to assume most 2 1/2 and up hotels around LA are going to charge for parking? I think I read some hotels around the airport do not charge. But, I can't necessarily be gauranteed that through priceline or hotwire. Do most of the LAX hotels offer free parking, or is a 50/50 split? Trying to stay around $75/ a night with the idea I'm looking at another $20 to park the car. Which still keeps me around our $100 a night budget. But, $75 a night with a good probability of free parking might make me consider staying around the airport. Am I safe at trying to secure a 2 1/2 star and up hotel in either Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, or Hollywood for around $65-$75 and using Lawndale (don't want to stay in Lawndale at all) as a free rebid? Or should I go about it some other way?
  18. Thanks for the expert advice. I decided to push my luck with the price and used Priceline with the link. Turns out I saved a little extra money and got the same hotel. Galt House. Hotel was nice although it seems the staff can't necessarily handle the size of the hotel. I was double charged on my credit card. They took care of it. They didn't show my reservation upon check-in. Took a little while to get things figured out. Everything turned out okay. Thanks.
  19. Hello all. I'm travelling to LA for a little vacation. Headed up highway one on 8/22-8/25 and staying in LA 8/25-8/27. If anyone has any ideas for the highway one portion of my trip, I'd greatly appreciate it. But, for this post I'm concentrating on my LA stay. Looking to stay on a budget. But, with this site that is pretty easy to do :) I'm looking to stay around $75 a night, no more than $100 a night. Anyway, I would like to stay in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills-West Hollywood, or Hollywood areas. 2 1/2 star and above only. I've done a lot of research on this site. I see people have gotten the Residence Inn in Beverly Hills for this price. Am I right that the Lawndale area has nothing above a 2 star hotel? I checked that area yesterday and nothing came back except for a 2 star possibility. Am I doing something wrong? Am I right in thinking that using Lawndale as a free retry is my only way to get a 2 1/2 star or above hotel in my preferred areas of town? Any other plans would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Will do. For the night of 7/14. One night. Price keeps fluctuating between $63 and $66 depending on when I check.
  21. Hey. First post here. Woot! Had a hotel pop up with a decent rate for my date of travel. Was wondering if anyone could help identify the hotel. Thanks in advance: 3* Hotel in Downtown Louisville Amenities: Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Spa Services
