  1. Hotel amenities: Boutique, near beach, exercise room, pool, restuarant, hi speed internet, spa. None of the pinned hotels even look close. Price $193 per night Thanks
  2. $90 + $16.35 tax= $106.35 Amenities: fitness, restuarant, business, hi-speed internet. Customer favorite. We've stayed here before, our son goes to Emerson College and this is very close and convenient. I might have saved a few bucks doing this thru Priceline, but for dw, I'd rather be sure than gamble. I know that the Doubletree is supposed to look similar, but after 3 times, I always get the Park Plaza. Our last time there we actually got a suite ( it was an older one- 2 rooms converted to a suite, 2 baths, a sitting room- and a view of the utilities- better than a street view- too noisy)
  3. Tampa Westshore 3.5* Quorum 4/8/06 $97 +$17.23 taxes and fees Amenities: customer favorite, shuttle, restaurant, pool, fitness, hi-speed internet, business, laundry Formerly a 4* hotel, amenities that have been added are customer favorite, and hi-speed internet. I once again went through the process of booking the 3* Westport ( amenities showed that it should have been the Doubletree) and once again at the last step of booking was told that this hotel was no longer available. As I mentioned in previous posts I called, emailed and had Hotwire try and do the booking over the phone with the same results ( the Doubltree was showing $70 + taxes). When the Quorum showed up available for my pre cruise stay, my initial thought was to go with it anyway. So maybe fate has pushed me in this direction for a reason :) And, Yes, as all good campers should do, I used the link at Savingsbarn :)
  4. Sorry about the multiple threads, this has been frustrating. I spent some time on the phone with hotwire about the problem with the first hotel. They were very pleasant but unable to book it for me. the same thing happened during the final booking process.
  5. This hotel just showed up on Hotwire for our April 8th one night pre-cruise stay. Customer favorite. Amenities: Shuttle, restuarant, pool, fitness, hi-speed internet, business, laundry. By the description, I think it's the Quorum. But with 3.5* and the customer favorite, I'm not sure.
  6. I actually tried almost daily to purchase this property over the past week. Each time the procedure went as far as the last stage and then I would get a message stating that the property was no longer available. After several attempts, I even tried doing it direct without savingsbarn :) , thinking that there might be a problem there ( see related topic in general questions board). I emailed and called Hotwire support and was told each time that the 'partners' sometime don't bother to update the information, so it shows as available. It still shows as available today. I also agree that the retail seems rather low for that date. The lowest price that I've found for the Doubletree is $139. Now you have me wondering what hotel it might be, and maybe I should wait until something else shows up. I also put bids in on Priceline for 4* for $55 and rebid for 3* for this date and was rejected.
  7. Sorry, my date for this hotel is 4/8/06 one night. It shows up on hotwire for $67 or $68
  8. This hotel seems to be the Doubletree. amenities: Shuttle, restuarant, pool, fitness and business. but it also has Customer favorite- which I don't see in the listings. Am I missing something?
  9. I finally called Hotwire customer care and was told that their partners failed to update the information. What's frustrating is that it still shows as available over a week later.
  10. I thought I was all finished booking the Doubletree in Tampa on hotwire. All my information was taken, credit card etc. even went thru the verasign process, then bam, the hotel was no longer available for my date. What's up with that. Did I book at the wrong minute/day? when hotels pull inventory off the market. Another unrelated, but important question. After bidding and getting rejected by priceline thru savingsbarn :) , and a counter offer is sent to you by email, if you click on the link and accept the offer, does the site get it's 'support'? :)
  11. I've been checking periodically on hotwire to see if the price dropped. With only one week until checkin, the rate remains high at $132. I guess it's a matter of supply and demand. Most other properties are full for that night. Don't forget to support this site and book through Savingsbarn :)
  12. Date of arrival 1/14/06 (mistake made in topic) First bid $80 rejected. Added Airport zone ( no 4* hotels in this zone) and rebid $100. rejected. Waited 72 hours and rebid $100 again and rejected with note that if I added $22 it would be accepted 3* 1 night rate $122.00 taxes and service fees $22.67 Total $144.67 I have been checking the prices on this hotel through hotwire for the past several weeks and it remained at $140 until this am, when it dropped to $134. The Hyatt pier came up a low $178 on 12/12, jumped to $280 and is now down in the $220 range. Oceanfront, Doubletree suites have no rooms available for this date. I believe that the King Tut exhibit is in town this month. Another reason the rates remain high.
  13. Sounds like the Sheraton OSJ- used to be the Wyndham. I just booked it myself.
  14. Theruare, Thanks once again for all your time and patience. The hotel did have fitness icon ( sorry about that :) ) I went ahead with Hotwire and booked it. Our freinds are staying there and cruising with us, so it made sense to jump on the offer ( the offers seem to appear and disappear just as fast). We are cruising on Princess, which docks at the Pan Am pier. I doubt if I'd ever walk to the ship anyway ( my wife packs enough for 3 weeks :) )It'll be nice to stay 'in town' this time. See my post on the hotwire board.
  15. I have been checking hotwire for several months. Resorts were as much or just slightly lower than the Hotel's rates. 3.5* had been coming up well over $240. I jumped on this because we are cruising with friends who booked their air and together and are staying here. Although we're cruising on Princess (their ship is docked elsewhere). It'll be nice to be in OSJ again prior to boarding. Thereuare, thanks for all your help, and sorry for taking up so much space :) Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel & Casino, 1 room @$83.00 x 1 night. Taxes and fees $15.95, Total $98.95 Amenities: Casino, restuarant(s), pool(s), fitness, tennis nearby, business center, laundry(self serve)
  16. This morning this came up on hotwire's list for 4/09/05 for one night. Casino, restuarant, pool, tennis nearby, business center, laundry. It looks like the Sheraton Old San Juan. Do I jump on this? Or give Priceline an $80 bid?
  17. :) Right again. Is there any chance that priceline would accept a lower bid for 2 nights when you only need one? Do some hotels have minimum stays?
  18. Hotel kingdom has a rate of $155 for a standard room, Hotwire is still around $325, which is close to the hotels rate. I am an Hhonors member and would like to win the hilton for the amenities. Do I wait until Feb, or start bidding now
  19. With the Wyndham becoming the Sheraton, how will this effect pricing/ strategy etc.? I heard that the casino may close. What about booking this hotel during the transfer/renovations? We have friends who are taking the same cruise with us, and took the air/hotel package thru their agent. we would like to stay at the same hotel, but my thinking is to pass ( 4/09/05 stay) Any thoughts?
  20. We're going on 4/09/05, but there are other cruisers that I'm trying to help/send here.
  21. How do I figure out when the hi season starts and ends. It would help knowing the 'breaking point'. The difference in bidding $$ from low to high is rather dramatic.
  22. I must first say that Jethro Tull gave an oustanding 2.5hr concert, young and us 50+(majority) very pleased. They are not too old to R&R! The Sheraton is designed and run with the business traveler in mind. Lan lines in every room, an Enterprise car desk in the lobby, a business/copy/gift/art center. Parking is $4/day. Booking thru Hotwire, and able to request 2 beds helped in making the decision not to book 2 rooms, and glad that I didn't. We were upgraded to the fourth floor (The Starwood preferred guest floor). Along with 2 queen size beds, a double pull out couch, large desk in a 20x20 room, there was a semi-private large dressing area ( coffee pot w reg and decaff +tea, but no fridge). The hotel has the box design, with the inside rooms overlooking the lobby/atrium. There is only one restuarant open at a time(6:30 am to 11 pm). Although the menu is limited, it includes a low carb list, and the food of excellent quality. I had the crab cakes (terrific) and my son the pizza, which was also very good ( the best pizza is made right here in NJ!). The breakfast was self serve, plenty of different fruits, nuts etc., but if your looking for fresh made eggs, pancakes etc., walk across the street to IHOP. Although it states there is complimentary shuttle service ( which seemed to be running this morning) we had to take cabs back and forth to the Palace theater $6/each way- parking would have cost $10. It was nice to be dropped off at the front door.
  23. Yes, the amenities are: restuarants, pools, fitness center, tennis nearby, business center, laundry (self service). Also: hi-speed internet service in-room and underground parking.
  24. Thanks for all the help. I didn't want to add a zone, so I went with the 3* $87 + $16.95 taxes=$103.95 on Hotwire. It turned out to be the Sheraton ( 1 mile from the theatre, but I believe there is free parking). Will post review upon return.
  25. Bid $72 and was rejected- PL offered same area at $22 more. Rechecked Hotwire, the Clarion is in Norwalk, each of the hotels said Stamford. would like to stay as close to theater as possible- will most likely go with the Hotwire $87 deal, and hope it's the Marriot
