  2. Golden Nugget is currently the only 4* hotel in downtown Las Vegas.
  3. Amenities: Resort, Free Parking, Free Internet, Casino, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet access. Hotwire never showed a resort fee, but I am pretty sure they charge $18/night.
  4. 5* in North Strip without a casino is likely to be Trump International.
  5. The $18 resort fee led me to think about CET properties: Paris or Planet Hollywood.

  8. FWIW, last Friday I've got the Cosmo when bidding on Priceline for a 5* hotel on South Strip ($98/weekday in November).
  9. I'm aware of that, thanks. I've stayed there a couple of times - many rooms are windowless and the front desk staff can be downright rude. But the place is clean, the mattresses are comfy, the location is reasonable and $49 is a very good price for NOLA. Furthermore, if you use your room just to take a shower and crash after overindulging in adult beverages in the Quarter, you will hardly notice that the window faces an internal corridor and not the street.
  10. I've just took one of their PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals. I am not particularly found of the Ambassador and their windowless rooms, but for that price I would stay there anytime. And yes, I've initiated the deal using the PRICELINE link on this forum :)
  11. Amenities: Smoke free, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business center, Internet Without bed choice the price would have been $101. I swear that I've initiated the transaction via the HOTWIRE link in this website! :)
  12. I've just shot a $60 bid and they counter offered $75. It's a bit distant from the hotel where I'll be attending a conference (Embassy Suites), but I guess I can pay a lot of cab fares with the almost $200/day I'm saving :)
  13. You can buy a Virgin Mobile prepaid phone for as low as $10 - and get it back in air time. If you are interested in keep your number alive for futures trips, you just have to top up it with $15 every 3 months. If keeping the same number is not important to you, you can just let it expire (forfeiting any remaining credit) and reativate it on your next trip.
  14. I would appreciate if you could post info on the shuttle service after your trip. TIA
  15. I like travelaxe.com and sidestep.com. Both research a lot of consolidators and inform you the best price available. However, I would never book a room in Vegas without talking to the hotel first. Unless there is a huge convention, chances are they will match the price on a fully refundable reservation and there is only the possibility of getting part of your stay comped at checkout.
  16. Westin Jersey City Newport 4 Star Jersey City 479 Washington Blvd Jersey City, New Jersey 07310 Total cost with taxes: $502.78 Bid initiated from the PRICELINE link in BeterBidding.com
  17. In fact, Montego Bay rooms do not have Internet access. Curiously enough, you can get a good wi-fi signal (for free) at Montego Bay's parking lot.
  18. I know it is a bit to late to warn you, but the Reno Holliday Inn is located in a seedy and deserted neighborhood and not at a walking distance from any point of interest. The so called casino is a dive patronized mostly by local pimps and drug dealers and their employees and customers.
  19. 3* Downtown Reno is probably the Holiday Inn, and I strongly suggest NOT to stay there. The hotel is in a seedy neighborhood, not at a walking distance from anywhere, the attached casino is the favorite hangout of local pimps and drug dealers, the parking lot has no security at all and is full of casino patrons panhandling for a spare change to play in the penny machines. I wouldn't let my brother-in-law stay there, and the SOB is sleeping with my little sister!
  20. 2,5* Near strip west is probably a courtyard room at Palace Station. These rooms are in a low-rise building and Motel 6 quality, but they are all non-smoking. 2* downtown is either El Cortez (the tower rooms are ok, but they will probably assign you one of their dreaded "Vintage Rooms", very tiny and smoky accomodations over the casino, accessible only by stairs) or Gold Spike. Spend a couple of bucks more, I wouldn't let my mother-in-law staying in either of them.

  22. Well... maybe people have been using this for a long time and I am too dumb to realize it before, but I'm going to share it anyway: if you want to stay at a specific hotel you know is used by HOTWIRE, do your search using the hotel address. If it's available, chances are it will be the first one on your list.
