  1. First bid was for 2.5 stars, $51 for West. Added Downtown and increased bid to $55. Very nice property -- my brother who lives in Amarillo says they just finished renovating. No pool for the kids though. Used the BB PRICELINE link.
  2. Got it on the first bid. Whoops At check in, the clerk quoted $120 to a phone call. Used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link once again.
  3. Based my assumption that we'd get the Brown on the record of that being the hotel people have been winning for Louiseville 4 star Downtown bids. It also looks like this one has been upgraded to a 4 star recently, as your Priceline Hotel list shows it as a 3.5. Anyways, I'm over my initial disappointment and looking forward to our stay. I did use your link. Thanks for the help!
  4. Started @ $50 for the Airport zone. Added Downtown and Brentwood @ $50. Added free rebid zone of South @ $58. Used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link.
  5. Well, I have to admit that I'm disappointed. I thought for sure I'd get the Brown Hotel. :( Got it on the first bid, and it looks like we'll be paying $20 parking on top of it. It's all part of the game and we'll make the best of it.
  6. Well, after looking around at Priceline hotel lists, "Cruise & Snooze" packages, etc., I came to the conclusion that probably the cheapest way is to stay out of the downtown area, and drive in and park at a discount lot. 1st Bid: $50 3* Mission Valley 2nd Bid: $52 + East County Winning Bid: $54 + National City Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $54.00 Subtotal: $54.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.47 Total Charges*: $68.47 Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link, of course.
  7. Thanks for the info. I went to look for a price idea on Holiday Inn at the Bay and they're already booked for the night before our cruise-- :) I wish there were more reports on winning bids for hotels in downtown San Diego. Everything shown for this zone is 4*, $90+ range, and we'll be spending less for less stars.
  8. Nifty site -- thanks. I'm developing a plan. I'll let you know what I get.
  9. 1st Bid: 2.5* Airport $40 2nd Bid: added free rebid of West $44 3rd Bid: added free rebid of Downtown $48 I've been trying for the Hyatt Place this past week. Recent reviews for this one look ok. Every room has a sofa sleeper, which is good for our family. As always, used the oh-so-handy PRICELINE box at the top rt of the screen.
  10. First try bidding for 2.5*, airport zone only. My friend raves about this being a family friendly one, and they've happily accommodated her with two beds with a PRICELINE bid, so this is the one I was trying for. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $42.00 Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.92 Total Charges*: $54.92
  11. Started with Uptown 3* $35 Added Santa Ana $38 Added Rio Rancho $40 Added East $42 Uptown Albuquerque 2600 Louisiana Blvd Ne Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110 505-881-0000 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $42.00 Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.85 Total Charges*: $54.85 I know I may do better if I'd wait, but I just like having all my ducks in a row.
  12. Got it on the first try -- should've started lower :) Needed an airport hotel, so only bid in that zone for a 2.5* for $40. Was upgraded to this 3*. Holiday Inn Tucson Airport Tucson Airport (TUS) 4550 S Palo Verde Boulevard I 10 Tucson, Arizona 85714 520-746-1161 Check-In Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Fri, May 16, 2008 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $40.00 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.69 Total Charges*: $52.69
  13. My first bid was $55 Tucson East 3* Rejected Added 2.5* and decreased price to $50, which was accepted. The reviews for this hotel seem very good, so attempted the "add a night" option. However, I was turned down. :) Priceline list price for this is $189.
  14. After checking various reviews, this 2.5* sounded better then the 3*s. I just based my bid on the same hotel post a few down and was accepted first try. Bid was for $45 (not sure why the '' is showing up in my title???) Used savingsbarn link :)
  15. I know the typical Hotwire going rate for Tucson Hilton East has been $50-$55 dollars. I'm looking at 3/14 - 3/16. What I think is the Hilton East is not showing "Customer Favorite" as described in the better bidding hotel list. Is there another 3* East Hotel that this could be? Doubletree?
  16. Thought I'd follow-up real quick-- Unfortunately, we were not happy with this hotel. Room was quite small. A/C didn't work and it was very stuffy so that I did not sleep well. Water pressure was so low that I didn't bother taking a shower. Hotel staff acted sympathetic, but said they couldn't do anything since it was a Hotwire booking. HOTWIRE gave me a $25 credit for another Hotwire booking, which I'm not sure I'll have the nerve to use. Oh well--you win some, you lose some. :)
  17. I assumed I was getting the Riverpark Inn. This one hasn't been added to the Hotwire list yet. Decent reviews so that's good. Hotel Amenities Complimentary Breakfast <amenity names only please... not descriptions>Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Used the HOTWIRE link.
  18. A friend and I had a Thursday night stay here. The reviews were astonishingly bad for the place, so I was worried. I was relieved to find a clean room with secure doors, taking note that our room had 4 entrances into it. Based on the reviews I read beforehand, I checked every one. Definitely not the feel of the other Priceline 3*s I've experienced. Small room size. No breakfast. 10 TV channels. Just plain old. The desk staff were friendly though. And it was quiet. The room we were in was one surrounding the indoor pool. Our room had a sliding glass door leading out to the pool. This probably would've been a nice set-up if I'd had my kids with me. We did see that they are under renovation. Some sort of Ramada Water Resort & Hotel. The rooms are supposed to be totally re-done. There was a picture of water slides coming out of the 3rd story into a new pool (currently a big hole). It read that there would be a river with rapids, a screen to play movies outside at the pool, a wave pool, etc. I seriously doubt the projected finish date of Fall, 2007. Nice idea though. If I were bidding Priceline again for ABQ, I probably wouldn't include the Midtown zone in my bid. I did add this zone after several bids for ABQ north were rejected. Winning bid was $40. Not terrible. Not great.
  19. Yes...I will work to be a more faithful contributor back to the board. Thanks for what you do here. I know it's helped me get some great hotels at great prices. If it was just me or DH, I wouldn't be so worried about it. This time, however, I'm going with a friend and I assured her that I would get a good hotel on Priceline. So it's a pride issue. So, I won't expect her to stay somewhere unpleasant. If it's as terrible as what I'm fearing, then I'll be out $50 and we'll go someplace else. I know I've saved more then $50 getting hotels this way, so I'll manage I'll keep you posted on my experience. :)
  20. Oh -- sorry. In my frantic crisis mode, I didn't realize this info was necessary. here goes: Topic Title: 3* Park Plaza Hotel Albuquerque (Midtown) First bid of $35 for ABQ north was rejected. Re-bid adding Midtown. Rejected. Added Santa Ana. Rejected. Upped to $40 and accepted. Used SavingsBarn.com. Congratulations, you got your price of $40 for a 3-star hotel room. Park Plaza Hotel Albuquerque Albuquerque Midtown 2500 Carlisle Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87110 505.888.3311 Check-In Date: Thurs, April 19, 2007 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Friday, April 20, 2007 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $40.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $12.56 Total Charges: $52.56 So, I've calmed down but I'm still concerned. I've always been happy with my Priceline rooms before and I don't get thrown off by some negative reviews. But there is nothing good to be said about this place anywhere in the recent past that I can find. I think Priceline just hasn't stayed on top of this one. Still would appreciate feedback if there's anything I can do then what they're saying via email/phone (see first post.) TIA
  21. :) Through a series of bids & rebids, I just won the Park Plaza Hotel Albuquerque, listed as a 3*** Interestingly enough, Priceline doesn't have any recent reviews on this hotel. The recent ones I have found (most recent being Travelocity within the last month) are reeealllly bad -- locks not working, dirty, rude, loud parties. I called Priceline with small hopes-- no help. I can call Priceline when I get to the hotel and report problems and they'll talk to the hotel and maybe the hotel will give me a refund. Is there anything I can do, or did I just lose this time? I did use the savingsbarn.com link, as I have before. Never have posted but have found some great help here before!!
