  1. I've tried very similar dates and haven't won with more than $70 added on so double congrats.
  2. If you are looking for a hotel near Disney, the only ones that I have won on this site that are "near" Disney might be the Hilton and the Grand Hyatt Cypress Creek. However, even though they are close, I'm not sure you would want to walk to Disney from any of them. Fortunately, most of the hotels near Disney have free shuttles to all of the parks, so you shouldn't have to worry.
  3. So excited. Was trying to see if I could get the Hyatt Regency Coconut Creek for Memorial Day Weekend. I looked last weekend and was moving up incrementally until I got to $135 for 2 nights which was more than I was hoping to pay. So, I stopped at that point. I tried again a few days later for the same area and days and still no luck. Got up to $135 before quitting. Today, I tried again, but I did three days. (My wife and I really enjoy this hotel - we have had a wonderful time every time we have stayed there). I started at $105 and moved to $110 when it was accepted. So, the lesson is sometimes it is better to wait and try to bid on another day rather than accept a price you don't want to pay. I used the PRICELINE link above. Thanks BetterBidding Board. :)
  4. Hello Everyone: Using the HOTWIRE link above, I received a $119 offer for a 4* Hotel in the Embarcadero (Financial) District of San Francisco for my stay of 11/9 through 11/15. The only amenities were the four listed on the Hotwire Hotel listing - restaurant, fitness center, business center and internet. Of course, all four listings in this district could have met this (although the Hilton-Financial District recently included the spa as an amenity). I was pleased to discover that I got the Omni Hotel for $119 - as this is one of the best reviewed hotels in San Francisco. Cheers!
  5. Thank you for the suggestion. I decided to follow up on your advice and use HOTWIRE (using the link above) - and get the 4* hotel in the Financial District for $119 and it WAS the Omni!!! I am quite pleased with this outcome (and will post it on the Hotwire section as well. Thanks again. Scott
  6. Hello Everyone: Didn't have much luck (yet) trying to book a hotel in S.F. for those dates in the Financial District. Using the PRICELINE link above, I started at $80 and worked up to $95 by adding in the zones without a 4* hotel. Seeing a few wins for a similar time frame in the low $80s (different area, of course), I was hoping to get something less than $100. I will try again in a few days. Wish me luck! FYI - the reason I like the Financial District is that the quality of the 4* hotels there look much nicer than in some of the other areas - where you can get some that are ranked 4* by Priceline, but the reviewers seem to suggest otherwise.
  7. Hi Everyone: Just a follow-up. I used the PRICELINE Link above and retried my Naples trip for Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25th (3 nights instead of 4), staying at a resort level hotel. I ended up winning my bid for $115 per night - at the Coconut Point Grand Hyatt (which I have stayed at before and is wonderful). So, I am happy - would have liked cheaper - but, still satisfied. Scott
  8. I looked also and think it is the Hilton also. Thanks.
  9. $101 per night from 5/23 - 5/25. Amenities include near beach, fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, internet and tennis. Thank you.
  10. Hi Everyone: Looking to book Naples over Memorial Day Weekend - for four nights. The Grand Hyatt already has some special deals (4th night free - breakfast and upgraded room for $199 night) available on its website, but I wanted to see if I could get something cheaper. I started bidding at $85 with Bonita Springs and worked my way up with $5 or $6 increments to $111/night covering four different areas (Bonita Springs, Ft. Myers, Ft. Myers Beach and Gateway to the Islands). No bites. I will try again tomorrow. With the deal being offered, I don't want to bid to high - I'd rather just keep the offer by Hyatt. But, if i can save enough money that it makes sense - i'll definitely do that instead. Four nights at $139 plus all the taxes and charges - just doesn't save that much money from the 4 for 3 deal. Any other suggestions would be helpful. P.S. I used the link on this site to make my bids.
  11. I started bidding for resorts only at $60, just adding one location in order to increment my bid upwards by small amounts ($3 or $4 bids). I eventually won the Hyatt Grand Cypress for $82/night - and am pretty happy with it. I did try the weekend before, but as it was President's Weekend - I did not win a room even at $92 - so I decided to change the weekend of my trip. I used the PRICELINE link above to enter my bids. Thanks.
  12. Does it make any difference to bid during a weekday as opposed to a weekend? How about bidding at 3:00 in the afternoon as opposed to 3:00 in the morning? Thanks.

  14. Hello Everyone: I am looking to go to Disney on the weekend of February 13-15 for 2 nights. I would like to stay at a resort/4 star hotel in the Disney area and pay around $75-$90 (or cheaper if possible). Any tips to get the best result would be appreciated. Thanks.
  15. Hi Everyone: I just stayed here this weekend. The last time I stayed here was two years ago - and the rooms look like they have been renovated. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanness of the room. New carpets, mostly new furniture. The bed was very comfortable. The TV was on the small size, but it is a flat screen (not plasma). It is convenient to Disney - they offer a shuttle to all the parks. The staff was very friendly. In addition, it was my wife's birthday and I told them while checking in. On our return to the room that evening, they had left a beautiful little cake in our room. It was very nice and an out of the ordinary type of amenity that makes me appreciate the Hilton. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
  16. Hi Everyone: I just used the BetterBidding tool that looks at three different sites for car rentals for my trip to NY on October 10th through the 15th (both leaving and returning to Laguardia Airport). I was looking for an economy car (in the USA, economy cars are pretty roomy), and they were pretty cheap on all three sites of about $30/day. The full size cars were about $38/day. I decided to try PRICELINE bidding for my car. I put in a bid of $28/day for a full size car and it was accepted by Avis. I cannot complain. I just was in NY last weekend and paid over $50/day for a two day rental. Your Offer Price: $28.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 5 days(4 days and 19 hours) Subtotal: $140.00 Taxes and Fees: $45.10 Total Charges: $185.10
  17. The Amenities were as listed on the pinned Hotwire Hotel List. They are as follows: 4.5-star hotel in Downtown New Orleans: This hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center and High-speed Internet Access.
  18. Hi Everyone: Had a bit of bad luck with PRICELINE trying to book a hotel thru these dates. After looking through the Hotels on the pinned list and the number of 4* hotels in both the French Quarter and the Downtown district, I tried to book a hotel in the French Quarter for these dates. The price that was showing up on Priceline started at $119 per night. When I clicked that number though, the price jumped to $159 per night. I started bidding at $60 for a 4* hotel in the French Quarter. I went up with $5 increments to $90 per night by adding in one district, except the Downtown district. By the time I got to the $95 bid, I decided to use Hotwire and accept the 4.5* hotel (Le Pavillon) in the downtown district for $119 per night. I had read wonderful things about that hotel and was willing to pay the $19 extra per room to be guaranteed that hotel. As Priceline has about seven 4* hotels in the Downtown district, I was not willing to bid lower and end up with one of the other hotels in that district. I did use both the PRICELINE and the HOTWIRE links above to make my purchase. I am happy with the HOTWIRE price of $119 as the hotel is much more expensive through their website. I wished I had booked that hotel last night though, as it was only $106. Sometimes it is tough to make that final decision (particularly when you have another person deciding with you).
  19. wow - I did EXACTLY as you said and bid the way you said I should and ended up with the Hilton for $60 a NIGHT! woohoo! Thank you so much. I did use the link on here for PRICELINE. Thanks again. I am quite happy with this win. The website has cheapest rate of $175.77 per night prepaid!
  20. Hi Everyone: I will be heading up to Disney for the weekend of October 3-5. I wanted to get some help on securing the best bid for a 4 star or resort level hotel in the area. Of course I would like to pay as little as possible, and based on the rates I have seen on the Board already, I was hoping for something under $80 a night. Any suggestions would be grateful.
  21. Wow - what an ordeal. Using SavingsBarn as my link to PRICELINE, I followed all of your steps, verbatim - and didn't get any luck - even going up as high as $140 for 4* only. Seeing this happening - I decided to try my luck with a 3* Hotel. I started my bidding at $75 and was told that was too little, so I started at $85. I followed your same steps - moving up $5 each time for a 3*. Believe it or not - I got up to $130 with still no offers. I think remembered that one of the actual listings for hotels was less than that - so I went back in - and just bought the actual room - the Trianon Bonita Bay for $123. Thanks for all of your help - it was greatly appreciated and I will definitely solicit your advice again when I need a hotel room in the future. Scott
  22. I think my maximum bid would be about $145 or so.
  23. Ok: According to the "bid it now" page - for 1 night (this Friday to Saturday) -- here are my options using PL: Fort Myers
