  1. We decided today to take a trip to Chattanooga for the July 4th Holiday so I was expecting to have to bid a bit higher, but started low anyhow. Glad I did. #1 Bid Chattanooga (Downtown) $48 rejected, suggested I try $56. Picked another bid zone and met it half way. #2 Bid Chattanooga South $52 and won the Sheraton Read House. :D 3 nights, total with Tax $191.61 Have always won the Marriott Convention Center, so I am excited to try something new. Used your PRICELINE link. :) Denise
  2. WOW! Me and the PRICELINE Negotiator went round and round on this one. :) This was my third day bidding, trying to get a decent rate for this EXTREMELY busy weekend, as we have discovered in a few threads. I needed a room for a big gymnastics meet we are attending this weekend. I was bidding 3* in the Historic District and FINALLY got the 3.5* Hilton Desoto: Room Cost per room, per night: $105.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $210.00 Taxes and Fees: $ 39.32 Total Room Cost: $249.32 I bid $95 and it came back and suggested I try $115 or try another zone. I opted to try another zone at $105 and won it. I am happy. Lowest price on the Hilton website for this hotel was $415.36, so I think I got a pretty great deal. :) Denise
  3. Had a couple of lower bids starting at $30, but no go. Saved about $15, but I am happy. La Quinta Inn and Suites Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $40.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $12.30 (USD) Total Room Cost: $52.30 (USD) I guess this is a new one to add to your pinned list. :) Denise
  4. There is also a large gymnastics meet, The Courtney Kupet's Invitational that weekend with up to 1000 girls competing at the Savannah Civic Center. I know because my daughter is competing. This thread has definitely let me know what I am up against. I am going to wait closer to the event to bid on my rooms. Denise
  5. It is also the weekend directly following St. Patrick's day in Savannah, which is a huge event, so that would probably why it is not accepting the lower bids. I am going to bid for 3 nights in a couple of weeks for the weekend before St. Patty's day. I paid $60 for a 4* a couple of weeks ago, and I know I most likely will not get that again for that weekend. Denise
  6. Oops, sorry about not using the PRICELINE link. I usually do. I will be bidding on two more trips, Sevierville. Tn at the end of this month and another trip to Savannah in March, so I will definitely use the links. Denise
  7. This is after the fact because I did not have time to post before I left town. I decided to bid last minute on a 3.5* in the Savannah Historic District and this is what I won: I first bid $50 and it came back and told me to bid $15 higher. I logged out tried it again later in a different zone and tried $60 and it took it. Hyatt Regency Date: January 29, 2011 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $60.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $16.13 (USD) Total Room Cost: $76.13 (USD) Interestingly, I saw that on the Priceline list the Hyatt had been changed to a 4* so I was kind of expecting the Marriott Riverfront (which I usually get) or the Hilton Desoto. So, I guess there is a chance you could get the Hyatt at 3.5* bid or 4* bid. :) Regardless of where we stayed, I was really happy with the price. :) The Hyatt was $179 online. Denise
  8. I definitely will. I am also considering pulling the trigger on the identified 3.5* that has yet to be identified in the same local. I will report back. Thanks!! Denise
  9. It is for 2 adults and 2 children. Now the rate is $74. Just curious what it is.
  10. Hi, I am looking at dates 10/7 - 10/11 at a 4* hotel at $69 a night. The ammenities are: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High Speed Internet Spa I do not see this on your pinned list with Spa and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Also, there are No Trip Advisor reviews or none on the Hotwire site. Thanks for your help in advance! Denise
  11. Thanks! Yes, it is in Downtown zone. Wanted to take my kids to the Tennessee Aquarium so I am psyched I got such a good deal. :) Denise

  13. We just returned from a weekend stay at the Marriott Savannah Riverfront (3/26-3/28) and in one word it was FABULOUS!! We arrived to find that the hotel was full for the weekend. The desk clerk still asked if I had a smoking preference and I said non-smoking if possible. She tapped away on the computer and then stated that there didn't appear to be any left. The desk supervisor then jumped on a computer too and tapped away and they found one still available :). Both of these ladies were extremely pleasant and courteous. The room was not ready but they checked me in and DH and I headed the short distance down to the waterfront for a beverage while we waited. When we returned, we received the same courteous service and headed up to our room. The room was immaculate, large and very comfortable with down pillows and down quilts on the bed. The best part was we had a gorgeous view of the river from our 3rd floor room. Yep, we had been upgraded without even asking. Even with the hotel full, we were so pleasantly surprised. The room came equipped with a 4 cup coffee pot, Iron, Hair Dryer and access to Web TV. TGI Fridays provided room service until late into the night at very reasonable prices. I will definitely hope to win this hotel again. It was a great experience and a wonderful stay. The fact that we won this hotel off Priceline was never a factor. The staff always went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. There was a great bit of construction going on in the street in front of the hotel, but the detour signs were easy to follow and access to the hotel was easy to get to, so it never was a problem for us. They definitely get a thumbs up! Denise
  14. Thanks! Yes, the riverfront is adjacent to the historical homes and areas of Savannah. There are many shops and restaurants in the area within walking distance. The history of this city and its surroundings are amazing. Very cool. Very fun place too. Denise
  15. Well I gave it another shot! Thanks for your help! Last bid rejected on March 18th was $85 after 4 rebids. Started out $90 - rejected Added another zone and bid $95 - accepted! Marriott Savannah Riverfront March 26th-March 28th Travelocity rack rate is $209, so this is quite a deal! Happy birthday to me!! :) Denise
  16. It is a birthday trip and we are only about 3.5 hours away, so it is not a big deal. The homes in the historic are incredible. Will ponder it some more. If I decide to give it a shot, I will update you and let you know the outcome. Thanks for your help! Denise
  17. You know I just looked. They are having a tour of homes in the historic district that weekend. :) I think that is probably a pretty big thing. If a 3* is still available when I rebid on Saturday, then I will give it another shot, otherwise I might work out to go another weekend. Wish me luck! Any suggestions for strategy?
  18. To add more information: Hotels in area that I have seen won before and lowest published rates are: Hilton Desoto $259.00 Standard Marriott Savannah Riverfront $169.00 AAA discount Hyatt Regency Savannah $268.00 AAA disount Thanks again! Denise
  19. Hi, Planning trip to Savannah Historic District 3/26-3/28. First bid $65 and added 4 more rebid zones raising $5 increments. Last bid at $85 rejected. Question. This was my first attempt bidding on Priceline. Boy the adrenaline was pumping.:) After my 72 hour waiting period I will bid again, but what would you suggest I start at?? Thanks! Denise
  20. I had posted about the Doubletree Club before. Could the Doubletree have different amenities for different dates??? Just curious. For the dates I want 3/26-3/29 there is a 3.5* with Restaurant, Fitness, Business and Laundry and I saw that someone won it with those amenities. I still think I am going to take the plunge, but since I am new at this, I thought I would ask. :)
  21. Hi, I am actually getting ready to book two hotels on Hotwire one for a week at WDW in June. That is the one I am concerned about if something should happen and I need to cancel. I have two children ages 2 and 4 and I want to be protected, cause let's face it, sometimes things just happen. I have searched high and low for peoples experiences with the trip insurance and do you think it is a good thing? Thanks! Denise
  22. Hi, First, this site is wonderful. Was always afraid to use Hotwire until now. :) I am also getting ready to book the Swan/Dolphin for June. I am also going to WDW 3/26-3/28. For these dates I see a 3* for $71 with amenities: Resort, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Golf neary and Laundry (self service). I do not see this resort on the Hotwire list. Does anyone have any clues what this is? Can I assume that the 3 1/2* with amenities: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center and Laundry (self service) is the Doubletree Club? Thanks in advance for your help! Denise
