I would agree that HOTWIRE and PRICELINE might not work very well for your purposes. However, a VRBO (vacation rental by owner) might be just the ticket! We've stayed in almost all the Marriott properties in the area and they are hard to beat, but the two Vistana properties are very nice as well. In addition, the vacation rental by owner sites will include detached houses, some with a screened-in pool, which would be something to consider as well. There are many "condominium" resorts with large units, but book carefully, as some are vies, vies, VIES! 😱 Welcome to the board from a Dutch-American who also LOVES to save money. Hi, everyone! I’m a longtime Hotwire and Priceline user, but I’m stumped here. My son and I want to take the few summer days he has off from work and see the sights in downtown Chicago, especially the art institute, Millennium park, river walk, pizza, and a show (we are improv people so thinking second city). I started looking last week Monday, and I could just kick myself. Last week, the Hyatt Regency was showing up on HW (bed type, amenities, and TA rating educated guess) for $141. Now the only 4* in that range is the Talbott, which I’m sure is very nice, but a single queen will not work for my 15-year old man-boy and me. Everything else in the downtown area is 200+. There is one possibility, I think it’s the Hyatt again, on a Priceline Express, for $179 and the 5% discount here at the top of the page. Should I just bite the bullet and pay that much, or are prices likely to drop off again last minute? Thanks, everyone!

Nope, actually, that WAS the full list of amenities from the MY ACCOUNT section of Hotwire. Easy View was no help, either.

I'm still confused about this one. I had two different stories from Hotwire, one time the identical information said 75% recommended with 5 reviews, the other times 0% recommended with 1 review. Does anyone know if the low recommendation rating is because they deny use of theme park perks? I hope not, I will be hopping mad!

There are no additional amenities from the trip information in the Hotwire account. In fact, before I booked, in the information section it said, "The hotel has not provided accessibility information." I have never seen that before. This was among the usual "no changes or refunds" information.

Because TOBB seems to be unmonitored, I've changed my allegiance. Hi! Got this thinking that the Marriott was the only 3* in the area; the SE area map has this on the line, so I'm stuck. No indoor pool and my son will be MAD, but that's the way it goes! Used the PRICELINE link.
