  1. Another follow-up, we received an email from Hotwire giving us $50 in Hotwire dollars and I am copying part of it below. They don't admit that ithat they provoded an incorrect booking so we are going to continue to follow through since the more I think about it, the more I believe we didn't get what we expected and it is hard enough to book an opaque listing without it being incorrect. We could have booked a 4* in the train station area for $166/ night, instead we paid $265/night for a 4* in the San Palo/Rialto area based on the 100% approval rating and prices listed for hotels the Rialto area offered a much better discount. We had even considered booking the Carlton on our own and it would nay have been $30 more per night than what we paid. I guess my overall thought for this forum is that the Hotel Carlton Grand Canal shouldn't be expected to be in the Rialto area and hopefully Hotwire will make adjustments. Here is the email we received - "I understand the hotel you booked was not in the area you expected and I regret the inconvenience this has caused you. We strive to meet our customer’s expectations, and we regret that we did not do so in this instance. I have applied 50 hot Dollars to your account, which you can use toward your future Hotwire bookings."
  2. Another follow-up, I have contacted HOTWIRE about the classification of this hotel. It is located directly across from the train station and should be included in that zone, not the Rialto Bridge area that was in our bid and was awarded. It is included with the hints for the train area and is in the area included on the train area of their map. Another thing, it was listed as 100% guest satisfaction, yet TripAdvisor reviews show 4/5 guest satisfaction, I'm not sure where I can find reviews just for HOTWIRE guests. From what I can tell, it looks like the pin on the map for this hotel is placed wrong. It isn't showing right on the Grand Canal as it should be and is stated on the hotel's website. I will let you know when I hear back, I just don't want anyone thinking this is in the Rialto area, it definitely isn't.

  5. We went ahead and booked a 4* in the San Palo/Rialto area that said 100% customer satisfaction, free internet and breakfast for $266 a night. It is the Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal. The odd part is that this was listed under hints for the train station area. Either way is fine, we are familiar with the location and happy with the win.
  6. We didn't end up booking this, booked a 5* at Circular Quay for $190.00 it was the Sir Stamford, great hotel!
  7. Date of stay is June 13 - 15. I see a 4* at Venice Sant Lucia Station is available for $166 with a posted price of $298. Amenities only list business center and laundry. There is also a 4* Venice San Polo - Rialto for $266 with a posted price of $408 with amenities of free Internet and breakfast. I can't pin either of these based on hotels listed here. Any advice or tips on what they might be? I've seen Bosco Bellini in the train station area but it is listing in the high 400's, and the other hints aren't helping much. How often do their "hints" turn out to be hotels awarded and how often are they there just to confuse?
  8. Stay from 4/13 thru 4/15 2012 Hotwire price is $107/night Amenities are no smoking, airport shuttle, restaurant, business center, laundry, and internet access thanks
  9. Trying to identify this hotel, not sure it is the Sheraton since it doesn't list tennis nearby. It is for June 5 - one night - 2 rooms. Amenities include casino, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center and internet. Recommended in 75% of customer reviews. It also says this hotel typically charges a resort fee - total price with tax and fees is $103.08 and I don't see the resort fee charge.
  10. This is the weekend for Marquette's graduation and nothing has been available downtown until today. We had booked out of town but wanted to be within walking distance to the ceremonies. List price on the website is $149/night. This is higher than we usually pay through PRICELINE for the Hilton or Hyatt but nothing has been available on Priceline either. We're happy to be downtown at about the same price we would have paid 10 miles away!
  11. 2.5* MTS It's being offered for $213, for 4 people 6/10-12. Features are complimentary breakfast and internet access. We currently have reservations at Hampton Inn Times Square for 1 room total of $576 w/tax for the 2 nights, I'm just looking around to see if there is something better out there!
  12. Amenities are: Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center
  13. After bidding for a couple of weeks on Priceline with no luck in Boston (Waterfront, Downtown and Copley) up to $140, this came up on Hotwire. Feeling sure it was either the Sheraton or Hilton we decided to take this. It seems like a good buy. Evidently, trying to win a Saturday only stay is difficult in Boston and this seems like a good hotel for our pre-cruise stay. We booked through the HOTWIRE link on this board. Thanks to all of the advice and postings!
  14. I've been bidding every day for a couple of weeks on a room for 7/21/07. I would like a 4 star either Waterfront, Copley Square or Downtown. I've used all my free rebids each time and have gone up to $130. Based on other bids won, this seems to be high enough to win something however still no luck. My guess is that it is because it is a Sat. only stay. Does anyone have advice on what I can do to stand a better chance - how high do I need to go? Rooms range from $209-$600 on hotel websites. Yesterday there was a 3.5 * in Copley for $104 on Hotwire, I'm guessing the Hilton or Sheraton. After waiting too long, this morning it is gone - that will teach me. :)
  15. I wonder what kind of beds you will get with 2 adults and 2 children? Do you think it will be 2 double beds or something with a pull out sofa?
  16. Aaaaah... there it is, thank you!! I'll check into it and keep watching Priceline.
  17. I appreciate your opinion. We are only looking for something convenient and "budget-conscious" for our 2 day pre-cruise stay so aren't worried about a living room area. When I click your link I'm not finding the Eastgate Tower as an option offered even when I put in 2 people in the room. My thoughts with the Hampton were to book it because 4 of us could stay in 1 room, at the same time I was trying to get a 4 star through Priceline such as the Hyatt for around $110-130 and book 2 rooms. Based on what I'm seeing, that may be difficult to do in the spring/summer months.
  18. Ameneties include complimentary breakfast, fitness center and high speed internet. Any ideas what this might be? We can get a room for 4 for $143 June 10-12. Right now we have a reservation at the Hampton Times Square for $240 one night, $270 another night so this would be a nice savings.
