  1. It is indeed (226 Aurora Avenue North). However it is not really "downtown" but in an area close to the Space Needle that - as you know - should be separated and named "Seattle Center". And it is located outside the "ride free" zone, but I still would not recommed driving your car from there to downtown. You will pay through your nose for parking. I'd prefer the bus or the monorail, which leaves from the EMP close to your hotel.
  2. thereuare, could you link this thread to your "things to do in NYC" post? This valuable information might be easier to find once this thread trickles down. Thank you!
  3. I am glad you had a good stay at this hotel. I just wanted to point out, that the bonus link originally came from WillTravel. So thanx to him. I am glad it didn't go unused! :). Take care!
  4. For the 22nd there is also a 4* for $120, which is probably the Westin. Note the customer feedback calling the bed "heavenly"! :)
  5. That is quite a NW trip you are putting together here! :) Was this your first bid?
  6. You are right, these are not in the zone. BTW wouldn't it be neat to have a graphical database of priceline zones with the exact location of the hotels that have come up and those that are possible (by their vacation package product or because they belong to chains known to work with priceline)?
  7. I just wanted to report that I am currently (so far unsuccessfully, no counter offers) bidding for the Lake Union zone for 8/15-17. I have gone up to $47 so far and will keep this level until closer to the date. The reason I am posting this, is that a colleague of mine, who unfortunately doesn't post here, has gotten the Silvercloud Inn as a 2.5* recently (I don't know at what rate). This implies that all the three hotels in this zone are 2.5*, assuming that Priceline rates the Residence Inn and the Courtyard as that, which they should and to my knowledge do elsewhere. There are no additional hoitels in the zone as priceline depicts it right now. As priceline also offers 2*, this means that there is an additional free rebid (or even two if you start a separate 2* bid first) for this zone. Might be useful to other people as well.
  8. Bid thru the barn and got accepted on my first try. Surprising, I thought summer would be more pricey in Vancouver. Well. even better. Unfortunately not for me but for a friend: :) Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle Check-In Date: Thursday, June 10, 2004 Check-Out Date: Friday, June 11, 2004 Vancouver 1128 West Hastings Street Vancouver, British Columbia V6B 4R5 604-684-1128 Your Offer Price: $45.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $11.07 (US dollars) Total Charges: $56.07 (US dollars)
  9. Before this gets way too off topic, let me just say that I sincerely hope but also doubt that!
  10. I think this is it: AAA spg promo Rules: Whether you travel by plane, train, or automobile, show your card and save up to 50% off 21-day advance purchase rates worldwide*. *Stays must include a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night stay, with one-night non-refundable deposit. *CAA/AAA ID will be required at check in Nice find! If you are not spg Gold you can also upgrade your account to AAA Preferred Plus and receive a room upgrade at check-in. Promo-Code seems to be: AAAPRO .
  11. I am glad to hear that! We were actually hoping you would trade us Jeter since you now have A-Rod. :) But looks like his batting is not what it used to be anyway! (A-Rod's that is!) Will you be there for the May series as well? GO Mariners!
  12. The Courtyard on Lake Union has free street parking across the street. From the Silvercloud Inn it is about two blocks to free street parking.
  13. I agree. Actually the Springfield Suites where WillTravel stayed would be a good location for Cap Hill, but so is Lake Union. I'd be careful with Northgate/UW though, because Northgate is really quite out of the way for Capitol Hill. I recommend bidding Downtown and Lake Union.
  14. I would definitely stay away from Bellevue for your plans. Traffic can very likely be bad, so you might miss your appointment. I would suggest to try Lake Union 2.5* which will likely yield the Courtyard or the Silvercloud Inn on Lake Union. From there it is only a short drive to the UW which is not prone to rush hour traffic. If that doesn't go through for up to $50, I would switch to University/Northgate which should be a little bit cheaper! Downtown is probably not to be recommended because of distance to UW and parking. Good luck!
  15. I always use the public busses if I can. Especially if all you want to do is go downtown, they are not a bad option at all. There are two lines: 174 which stops about a million times and takes forever and 194 which goes onto the interstate and takes you there much faster. So gor for the 194 if you can.
  16. Thereuare, did you see this one? NY Times - Whats doing in Seattle
  17. In the meantime I have tried up to $110 for 2.5 or 3* in Anchorage and upp to $55 for 2.5* in Fairbanks. No luck, not even a counteroffer. I will try again closer to the travel date.
  18. Thanx a lot! Nice website (the unofficial one)! I think I will enjoy Montreal. :)
  19. This seems to be a very tough period. This is what I tried so far: Anchorage 6/17: 3* 45 rejected added 2.5* 55 rejected added 2* 60 rejected Fairbanks 6/2: 2.5* 35 rejected added 2* 35 rejected. I will probably wait my 72h and then increase Anchorage up to $80. I don't know about Fairbanks. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  20. My first bid was accepted. Check-In Date: Sun, May 30, 2004 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, May 31, 2004 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $45.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $10.39 Total Charges: $55.39 Best rate on their website was $210. Used the savingsbarn.com link.
  21. location: located in a small office park in the middle of nowhere together with a Hilton, two office buildings, an Outback steakhouse and an Applebee's restaurant. About a 15 minute ride from the airport. transportation: complimentary airport shuttle that runs every 20 minutes. Leave the main terminal on the East side, door 511 and wait on Island 3. room: good, clean standard 3* room. in-room coffee maker. No mini-bar. Next to the elevator but well isolated so I couldn't hear it at all. lobby and restaurant: small lobby with a fire place. Restaurant was closed when I got there at 10:30pm so had food at the bar. Not great, but o.k. for the price. Friendly service. Small gift shop open 24hours, well stocked and reasonably priced. check-in: speedy and very friendly. Referred to my reservation only as "prepaid", offered choice of 1 King/ 2 Doubles. overall: Nice 3* with very friendly staff in a less attractive location, but with the frequent shuttle it is a decent choice for a night before an early morning flight.
  22. What a wonderful hotel: Check in: very friendly, no mention of Priceline, complimentary upgrade to a suite on the top floor. Parking: very expensive ($23). We therefore stayed at the SmartPark garage on 4th and Alder which is 2 blocks away and costs $5 a day on the weekends and you can even have your card validated when you purchase things at virtually any store downtown. This will take $1 off the parking ticket for every validation. Room: very nice, spacious suite with a sliding door separating the living room from the bedroom. Tasteful furniture. Great view on Mt Hood from the 10th floor. Aveda amenities as mentioned before. Starbucks coffee in room. Also complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby every morning. Complimentary high speed internet. Complimentary shoe shine. Wine tastings: Every day 5-6pm in the lobby. 4 different wines (Oregon, California, Washington). Very nice, got quite crowded. Staff: Everybody was very friendly and helpful. Location: Walking distance to everything downtown or in the Pearl district. We would definitely come back to this hotel, not only via Priceline. We did not try room service or the restaurant.
  23. Thanx a lot! The Metro system looks great. Do they sell weekly passes?
