  1. Stayed here for one night with my family. Location: Within a quiet residential area. Not much to do around here but very close to the U-Bahn which will take you downtown in a few minutes. Also quite close to the Munich North stop of the Lufthansa Airport Bus which makes a comfortable ride of only about 25 minutes to the airport. The Marriott is about a block down the road. Plenty of safe, free street parking. Room: Very standard, clean hotel room. This would probably be a 3* by Priceline standards in the US. Positive: A window that would open all the way, overlooking a nice green courtyard. Totally quiet. Quite reasonable minibar prices. Negative: The two twin beds were very narrow. Small TV. No in-room coffee. Facilities: Small lobby. No swimming pool which was a bummer for the kids, but one can use the pool at the Marriott down the road. There is a small spa area which has a sauna, steam bath and a jacuzzi, which were clean and well kept and totally deserted when we were there. Staff: Very friendly, helpful and professional. No mention of Priceline at check-in. Can't comment on restaurant or bar since we didn't use them. We had breakfast at the Marriott which was 17.50 Euros and free for kids up to 6years. Not spectacular, but pretty good.
  2. Last minute bid on the same day. Accepted at first bid through savingsbarn.com. I was hoping for the Marriott but then this came up quite unexpectedly.
  3. Bid my way up in $5 increments starting at $45 using the three rebid zones. Accepted at $80: Sutton Place Hotel Check-In Date: Thursday, February 1, 2007 Check-Out Date: Tuesday, February 6, 2007 Vancouver 845 Burrard Street Your Offer Price: $80.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $400.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $77.10 (US dollars) Total Charges: $477.10 (US dollars) Bid through savingsbarn.com. I was actually expecting the Westin Bayshore to come up since it was the cheapest 4* on Priceline's non-opaque booking site and the Marriott and Hyatt were booked out for these dates. Hotwire had this one for $99 for these dates.
  4. Bid through savingsbarn. Rejected at $55, added East and bid $56: Check-In Date: Thursday, November 23, 2006 Check-Out Date: Saturday, November 25, 2006 Hotel Name: Frankfurt Marriott Hotel Your Offer Price: US$56.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: US$112.00 Taxes and Service Fees: US$26.46 Total Charges: US$138.46
  5. Bid two days before via savingsbarn. Accepted on first bid: Check-In Date: Thursday, August 24, 2006 Check-Out Date: Saturday, August 26, 2006 Hotel Name: Hyatt Regency Vancouver Your Offer Price: $90.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $180.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $38.33 (US dollars) Total Charges: $218.33 (US dollars)
  6. Finally pinned down a hotel for our Seattle stay this summer. Paid a higher price than I intended but at least it turned out to be a decent hotel: Check-In Date: Saturday, August 19, 2006 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, August 23, 2006 Hotel Name: The Westin Seattle Your Offer Price: $135.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $540.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $91.07 Total Charges: $631.07 I had started at $100 for this one creeping up to $130 where I felt I had to be getting closer. Still rejected at $134, no counteroffer, and accepted at $135 so at least I definitely didn't overpay. Best rate on their website was $206 for these nights. Through sb.com. I had previously tried 3* DT up to $85, 2.5* Lake Union up to $85 and 2.5* Lynnwood up to $56 for these dates and for 8/17-21. Now all I need is some cheap(=free) parking downtown and tickets for the Yankees game on Tuesday night.... :)
  7. Tried to bid 4* up to $95, but nothing, not even a counteroffer, even though the 5th Ave Suites and Vintage Plaza were $179 for those dates. Then tried just 9/2/06, also negative Then restarted with 3* through sb.com. First bid $35, then $40 and accepted at $45. And luckily it is the Hilton! Check-In Date: Friday, September 1, 2006 Check-Out Date: Sunday, September 3, 2006 Hotel Name: Hilton Portland And Executive Tower Your Offer Price: $45.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $19.29 Total Charges: $109.29 :)
  8. Finally had a chance to do some priceline bidding again. First bid of $62 Frankfurt East rejected, added West since both zones were o.k. and was accepted. I know I might have been able to bid lower for West only but I didn't really care about one or two bucks either way. Frankfurt Marriott 4* Your Offer Price: $62.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $124.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $28.56 Total Charges: $152.56 Went through priceline.com and savingsbarn. Lowest price I could find on the web was Euro150/night, so even with taxes and fees, I saved more than 50%. Nice.
  9. Willing to help with your Munich stay, but you would need to provide a few more details, i.e. dates, star level desired, maximum amount you want to spend, desired location,....
  10. This will do as a place to crash for the night. I have an early morning flight out and thought maybe someone on this board familiar with ATL could help me: I have a 6:10 am flight on United. I will have baggage to check in, I am Star Alliance Silver so I should be able to use their priority check-in. What time do you think I should be at the airport? How heavy would security lines be on a Wednesday morning? The hotel seems quite close to the airport. Does anyone know how long it would take to get there using the shuttle? Thank you!
  11. Bid accepted at GBP23 ($40). Previous bid of GBP22 was counteroffered to raise by GBP7. Total with taxes and fees is GBP30.40 ($53).
  12. Might do just that. Tried 4* up to $63 and 3* up to $38. No go so far.
  13. Do you know what the regular rate for that night was? I am in the middle of bidding for 12/13-14 and I am getting nowhere so far. Rate for the Westin for that night is $149.
  14. Please help! I need to get in touch with priceline.co.uk because they charged my credit card twice for a hgotel booking I made only once. I can only find their e-mail form on the website and they haven't gotten back to me for more than a week! Does anyone have a phone number I could contact?
  15. You might want to check other sites for reports of 3* hotels in the South zone and then of course post your win here. I think I recall a post on a website I don't frequent anymore. On the other hand, at the rates you were bidding, you should be able to score a room at one of the 4* properties in the North zone, which both are conveniently located. Is there any particular reason you are aiming for the South zone? One future possibility in this zone will be the new Courtyard scheduled to open Oct 2006 about half a mile from the central train station and in the South zone as it is now. Good luck and let us know how it goes
  16. bid on priceline.co.uk: My first bid of 48GBP was accepted ($85). Le Royal Meridien, Hamburg, 5* Total with taxes was 60.21GBP which amounts to $106. Best price on their website and elsewhere was
  17. Bid Banff and Canmore areas in various combination over the last two weeks and finally got something: I bid GBP46 (US$83) for a 2.5* in Canmore and hoped for the Residence Inn but was upgraded to the Radisson: Radisson Hotel And Conference Center Canmore Check-In Date: Friday, 9 September 2005 Check-Out Date: Sunday, 11 September 2005 Canmore 511 Bow Valley Trail Canmore, Alberta T1W 1N7 403-678-3625 Your Offer Price:
  18. But Renton is way more than a 10 minute cab drive from Pike Place Market, more like 45. I'd rather suggest to bid on Downtown or Lake Union zones and prepare yourself for a short bus ride, should you end up further away than walking distance. Or stay in Renton (which will be much cheaper) or Lynnwood and drive into downtown and pay for parking.
  19. If you can wait a little longer, you might be able to get the Courtyard Lake Union for $45. On two occassions I got this hotel, but not until 4-6 weeks before the date. Up until then even $70 didn't get me anything. From there it is a not so terrible 10 minute walk to Seattle Center.
  20. No new hotel to report. I was hoping for the Pacific Palisades which came up on the vacation packages as the cheapest 4*. Bid on priceline.co.uk: First bid GBP42 (appr. US$75), rejected with counteroffer of GBP55) added Langley GBP43 (appr. US$77), rejected, added Delta GBP44 (appr. US$78.50). Check-In Date: Sat, 24 Sep 2005 Check-Out Date: Tue, 27 Sep 2005 1 room total with taxes: GBP151.81 (US$270) best rate on SPG.com CA$219 (US$180) per night.
  21. If you use venere.comto book any hotels in Italy you can use coupon code AGN4N3M for a 4% rebate. Not great, but enough to buy due espressi!
  22. SAS actually have that on their A340s. And you can always see it on your PTV. Very nice during take off and landing.
  23. That is actually what I meant. My English is going down the drain.... . Anyway, way cool! If things cool down a little with the maps you will have to tell me how you actually did this.
