  4. HOTWIRE had a 4* (looked like the Sofitel) in the same zone for $70, so I was willing to go to $63 on PRICELINE (my arbitrary amount). Started bidding at $46, kept adding non-4* zones until I hit it at $60. As always, I used the betterbidding HOTWIRE and PRICELINE QuickQuote links above to get started.
  5. Bidding on both Bloomington areas. Rejected on $40, $41, and $42 before $43 was accepted. Happy with this price. Hotwire had the Raddison MoA (apparently) for $57 for the same night. I think that hotel is a bit nicer (still 3.5*), but I'm happy to spend the $15 on something else. Used the BetterBidding link to start my bidding, of course.
  6. Great tip! Thanks very much...I'll be traveling w/ my family and that would be perfect.

  10. Started bidding today at $60 on 4* Downtown Minneapolis. Added zones one at a time and made bids of $64, 66, 68, 70, 72, 74, 76, 78, and finally hit on $80 and got the Minneapolis Grand. Have stayed here before (thanks to priceline) and my wife loved it, so we're happy to have gotten it again on what seems to be a fairly busy night for downtown hotels. Started our bidding using the betterbidding PRICELINE link. Happy Bidding all... -Tim
  11. I've had success with this hotel in the past...never paid this much, but I can't complain - still more than half off. The nice thing about bidding for a 4* in the twin cities is you can currently bid 13 times a day - lots of zones, and only 2 offer 4*'s I started bidding at $42, then 44, 46, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62, 64, 66, and then hit it on my last chance with $70. Of course, I used the better bidding PRICELINE link to start with. -Tim

  13. Right again! I decided to book this one, final price was $42/night, and it did turn out to be the Hilton Garden Inn - Hoffman Estates. And of course I used your HOTWIRE link to make my purchase. Looks like a nice hotel, and the price is definitely right. Thanks for all your help!
  14. Hotwire gave me an offer of $44 for a 3* hotel in Hoffman Estates for 4/8/08 - 4/11/08. Listed amenities are: Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center Laundry High Speed Internet I don't see an exact match on the IL Hotwire hotel lists. Anyone have an y other info? Thanks a lot!
  15. 1st bid = $85 (Millenium Park, Loop, Grant Park) rejected 2nd bid = $90 (above + NMA River North) accepted Quite happy with the price. But I'll need to find cheaper parking than what they charge at the hotel (something like $40 or $50).
  16. I'm impressed...good call. :) It did turn out to be the Hilton Minneapolis and Towers. I was at my office this afternoon and saw the price had dropped to $59. When I got home it had gone back up to $63, so I pulled the trigger. Looks like a nice place, and within easy walking distance of the Theater we're headed to. And of course, I used your HOTWIRE link when I made my reservation. Thanks for your help.
  17. Stayed here for a wedding in December. Booked the room on priceline and it has made me nervous about using Priceline again. I thought this place was very bad. First room they put us in stunk of smoke (i had called to request non-smoking) and the carpet was covered with an astonishing number of stains. Not just a few...literally dozens...have no idea what it was. So I grabbed the phone to call the desk to ask for a room change and the phone didn't work. They did move us to a better room, but it still was in rough shape, and quite dirty. The whole place felt that way. I will definitely avoid ESA anywhere I travel now, based on this one experience.
  18. 3.5* Minneapolis (Downtown) and the rate for Feb. 9 is $62. Labeled a "customer favorite". Ammenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access I checked the hotel list here on the forum and the only 3.5* for downtowm mpls is the Millenium, but the ammenities list is sightly different. I haven't done this enough to know how typical that is. Any help? Thanks!
  19. Just returned from this trip, my first experience w/ Hotwire, and stumbled onto this great forum while making some future plans. I tried Priceline (my usual route) first for this reservation...sorry, don't remember details of my bidding. Decided to give Hotwire a try and ended up with the Country Inn & Suites South (there is another one further north in town) for $79/night. Amenities listed were: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access The interesting thing was this: The details page for this deal listed a "retail" price of $219. When I found out the hotel, I checked their website and saw that their rates didn't go above $95 (unless you got a suite or some add-ons). I emailed Hotwire customer service to tell them how ridiculous it is to claim that this hotel has a "retail" price of $219, no matter how they figure it. They explained how they figure it, and gave me $25 credit. Definitely worth the effort of sending the email. And now I know not to put *any* stock in the "retail" price they list. Hope I included all the pertinant info here. Again, this is a great forum...I'll be using it a lot in the future.
