  2. I don't see where this property has been reported before so I was surprised with the win. I checked Priceline's Hotel Review for this Holiday Inn and the returns were discussing a Travelodge. Most recent review was from 2005 so I don't know if there is an incorrect link or the hotel changed chains but the reports were very negative for the Travelodge. I will report after my stay. Regards, Keoni :)
  3. Started at the Savingsbarn and accessed PRICELINE for a visit to Orlando and vicinity. 3* DWV $50.00 Not Accepted Counter Offer to add $17.00 (had 6 rebid zones so I was going to go up $1 or $2 a try) add rebid $51.00 Not Accepted add rebid $52.00 CONGRATULATIONS!!! :) Holiday Inn Maingate East Disney World Vicinity 5711 West Irlo Bronson Mem Hwy Kissimmee, Florida 34746 407-396-4222 $52.00 x 6 nights = $312.00 + $51.87 (taxes/fees) = $363.87 :) Previously used SavingsBarn to score an Economy Rental Car via Priceline at the Orlando Airport for 10/16/07 - 10/23/07 from Budget Rent a Car. $11.00 per day x 7 days = $77.00 + $40.20 (taxes/fees) = $117.20 :) Regards, Keoni :o
  4. :) Still trying every two to three days bidding as follows: Jersey City, 22 - 25 November 3* $70 add rebid $75 Not Accepted... :) close browser Jersey City, 23 - 25 November 3* $70 add rebid $75 Not Accepted... :o I have a cancellable backup at the Newark Hilton (Path Station) and will keep working the process hoping for the ...... Hyatt on the Hudson! Regards, Keoni :)
  5. :) As of August 4 2007 the SUPERFERRY is still docked in Honolulu Harbor without service initiated yet. However, they are taking reservations so it may be any day now... Aloha, Keoni :)
  6. Prince Kuhio became a HILTON property January 2007. The entire property is very near completion of a total renavation so everything I saw was Brand Spanking New! My stay was 8 Jul - 4 Aug 2007 and during that time all employees were very friendly and all 5 elevators were operational, and fast! Update: Parking is now Valet Only and $20.00 per day. There is a restaurant on the premises that is open 24x7 but I thought a bit pricey. They have a Business Center with 5 computers, fax, copying machine, all complimentary. WI FI in Lobby, Pool Area, Executive Lounge, and Pool Area. Temporary Executive Lounge and Fitness Center are on the 2nd floor awaiting final renovation of the 37th floor to house these facilties. At 5pm they offer one hot item such as meetballs, chicken wings, jalapeno poppers, etc... and multiple cheese/fruit plates in the lobby near the Lobby bar. Still no microwave but my room had a coffee pot for two, mini fridge, and a safe. I wasn't charged for the safe but that may be because I was on the exec floor. Large 42 LCD TV with digital channels but I wasn't there to watch TV. For those with Kids there were a couple of cartoon channels that would entertain. For those looking for night life this hotel goes dead about 10pm but a couple of blocks away and you can "dance the night away..." I believe all previous negative comments should be lightly considered based upon the renovations that have been completed. Having stayed a couple of times at the Hawaii Prince, I would easily compare the new and improved Prince Kuhio to be of that caliber. Folks that want a "gentle" ocean experience can walk directly towards the ocean about 2 blocks from the hotel to Kuhio Beach where sea walls provide a nice ocean experience for non-swimmers and small children. Great "learn to surf" as well and the Kuhio Beach will have lots of locals morning and evening trying to catch a wave or two... Best deal going is to purchase an Entertainment Book from this website before you go for great discounts on attractions and meals! Aloha, Keoni :)

  8. Same strategy as before but still no luck. Hotwire shows the 4* at $169 so I am still holding out for a priceline deal. Will post again after next try. Regards, Keoni :)
  9. Tried same strategy as 5/17 again today on 6/14 but no luck. Will wait and try again. Regards, Keoni :)

  11. Bid Jersey City 3* $70 21 -25 Nov added rebid zone 3* $75 Bid Jersey City, 3* $70 22 - 25 Nov added rebid zone 3* $75 Bid Jersey City, 3* $70 23 - 25 Nov added rebid zone 3* $75 Will wait 24 hours and bid again. If I only win the weekend I will re-look Mid-town for the first couple of nights at a higher price based upon Jersey City savings but hoping for a win in JC for the whole enchalada. Regards, Keoni :)
  12. Oldfoagy, You give sound advice! Yes, after stating qualifications were more important than saving money, I did contact two of the top choices directly and was able to get the price down to a satisfactory level that would please the group. I agree, sometimes no matter what you do the situation cannot be controlled so you have to work with the parameters given. Thanks for your viewpoint. Regards, Keoni :)
  13. My BAD... I meant to say I would bid on Travelocity with the 5+ rooms per night option, not Priceline... Anyway, I am a big supporter of this board and eventhough I bid multiple times over many days on Travelocity, this particular project didn't work out. Thanks for the opportunity to clarify and I have since landed a room in Atlanta using Savingsbarn (see the report in GA) and just tonight I scored a rental car in Honolulu for $15 per day using SavingsBarn and Priceline. Aloha, Keoni :)
  14. Started the bid at SavingsBarn as follows: Airport Zone 4* $48 add rebid zone $50 add rebid zone $52 CONGRATS, YOU GOT YOUR ROOM !!! :o Several posts indicate $52 is the going price for this hotel. I also was offered a rental car afterwards at $7per day or name your own price. I mouse clicked on $7 per day and it responded I had very little chance bidding that low and eventually said no one would accept my bid? Strange it would offer for $7 but not accept. :) Regards, Keoni :)
  15. First bid of $51 accepted for Hilton Atlanta Hartsfield Airport. Plus $16 taxes and fees but still a great bargain. As always, started my bidding from the SAVINGSBARN! Aloha, Keoni :)
  16. Powerplantop and Thereuare, First, yes it is important to the group to be in the same motel and there will be lots of young cousins to terrorize the pool area and being indoors for kids just ain't the same... so we need an outdoor pool. What we have seen so far based upon phone calls directly to the motel: Comfort Inn, 4833 Hixson Pike, price of $69.00, plus tax. Holiday Inn Express, on Hixson Pike, price of $88.00 per night, plus tax. Fairfield Inn, 2350 Shallowford Rd., price of $74.00 for a room with king bed and $86.00 for a room with 2 double beds, plus tax Holiday Inn Express, 7024 McCutcheon Rd., Hamilton Place area, quoted a price of $69.00 per room, plus tax, for either a king bed or 2 queen beds, based on 10 rooms. I will place a bid on the Priceline site for multiple rooms and keep all informed as to how we proceed. Regards, Keoni :)
  17. Looking for advise for booking 12 rooms for the night of June 23 2007 for a family reunion in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I started with Hotwire for booking multiple rooms and ended up getting to a bidding service at: FindGroupDeals.HotelPlanner.com I want to make sure I pass credit to Betterbidding and any suggestions would be appreciated. Would like 2/3 star level, pool (outdoor preferred) comp breakfast (hot is better than continental), etc... Price range $55 - 75 per night. Regards, Keoni :)
  18. Thereyouare, Yes, the LaQuinta would be Airport but in reality it is 5 or 6 miles away so it is not like you are staying "at the airport"... This motel will be about 20 minutes from the Lookout Mountain foot, which would be where she will take the ride on the Incline Railway. Until fairly recently it was called "The Worlds Steepest Mile" which means a cable car going up the side of a mountain. However, I believe this distinction now goes to somewhere in Colorado so the Incline is now called "The Worlds Most Amazing Mile..." As you go up Lookout Mountain in the Incline, the top of the car is glass windows as you are basically perpendicular with the ground, and you look out through the roof at the surrounding area. Pretty neat and worth the effort. The Tennessee River makes a bend just below and it is referred to as Moccasin Bend because from the mountain it appears to be in the shape of an Indian Moccasin. Lookout Mountain is where the civil war battle called "Battle Above the Clouds" took place and after the battles in Chattanooga and Chickamauga, Georgia General Sherman made his "March to the sea..." Regards, Keoni :)
  19. Pokerchick66, The La Quinta will be just off of I-75 near the Hamilton Place Mall. It is the only LaQuinta showing in the Chattanooga area on LaQuinta's website. Surrounding the Mall are dozens of restaurants offering any type of food you can think of whereas the foot of Lookout Mountain may have 1 or 2 restaurants and nothing to do in the evening or night. On the other side of the Mall from your motel is Gunbarrel Road. There is a Walmart on Gunbarrel in case you need to pick up something you forgot to bring with you. Heading towards Chattanooga from your motel you start out on I75. But within a few miles I75 turns left towards Atlanta and you will stay straight towards Chattanooga on what becomes I24. Up through the cut in Missionary Ridge and over the ridge you will see Lookout Mountain on your left and downtown towards your right. The exit for Lookout mountain is clearly marked. Also on top of the mountain in addition to Rock City (you can see 7 states from there) also make a stop at Point Park and the Ochs observatory. While you are in the Aquarium area, there is a scenic walk along the Tennessee river that leads up to the Walnut Street Bridge. Long since closed to auto's it is a great walk across to a park area on the North side of the river. Have a great stay. Regards, Keoni :)
  20. I always thought the primary purpose of Hotwire/Priceline was to off-load excess inventory. If we should expect to get a 1* room in a 3* hotel, then the opaque service provider should be ADVERTISED as a 1* property to acurately reflect the type of room you should expect to receive. Otherwise, that is false advertising or at a minimum, "Bait and Switch..." Keoni :)
  21. The airport is NEVER, EVER, NEVER a place to stay in Honolulu! If you could get a room there for $20.00 a night that is $20.00 per night too much. Only use this zone as a "free" rebid... Keoni :)
  22. Please check a post by Newbie2006 wanting to know info on this Hilton Financial District Hotel. Regards, Keoni :)
  23. Newbie2006, The hotel you are in, Hilton Financial District, is freshly remodled and is a great bargain for $80 per night. The hotel has a garage that charges $40 per day with no in/out. There is a city garage directly across the street from the hotel that is $25.00 per day and also no in/out. I stayed on the go most of my trip therefore I used on-street parking at meters that are free after 7pm until 7 am. I had to get up/out of the hotel and move the car by 7am but that was not a problem for me. Note, if you are playing the russian roulette with the parking meters note the paint on the curb and the fact that each side of the street will have different tow-away days. Now for the local tips of the day!!! Go out the front door of the Hilton, turn left and in the very next building is a great Mom and Pop place to get breakfast for little money. Continue on past the mom/pop place and about 1/2 a block, cross the street. You would never suspect that one of the best Chinese restaurants located on the fringe of China Town is called R&G Lounge. Moderately priced meals, I had to wait 45 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. Treat yourself to a great meal where the locals dine and check it out... R & G Lounge :) PS If you decide to fly up, check prices into San Jose or Oakland which may be cheaper than SFO. Regards, Keoni :)
  24. Feeling lucky tonight so I tried Priceline and the Ihilani price came up as $319.00 and then tried the "name your own price" again with no luck... August 13 - 15 Tried Ihilani Resort $200.00 Rejected added Airport zone $210.00 Rejected added Exec Center $225.00 Rejected Obviously these folks aren't interested in selling rooms on Priceline as any resort area in Waikiki can be had for less than this and will have much more to offer. Regards and giving up on Ihilani, Keoni :)
  25. Aksyoung, This isn't your dates but I figured I would at least "troll" the waters for you. I bid as follows with no luck: August 13-15 (Sunday & Monday) bid Ihilani $175.00 (Rejected) add Airport $185.00 (Rejected) add Exec Center $200.00 (Rejected) Of course I am looking at different dates but it looks like it will take a fairly high bid to get in. Aloha, Keoni :)
