  1. Paid 45.00 on Priceline. No mention of priceline on checkin. Checked in @ Midnight, given 2 double beds non-smoking as requested. Room was huge and clean. Separate bedroom and then living room/kitchen area. Checked out early AM, after enjoying the included hot buffet breakfast. A fantastic experience for $45.00!!
  2. No car!! I now have to figure out how to get from JFK to this hotel. I was hoping you'd come up with a great place. You didnt steer me wrong with the Georgia Ruben!!
  3. Ok, I can finally put this bidding nightmare to bed. I tried again today 100.00 for a 2.5 star in Jersey City. Denied. Added Secaucas and raised to 110.00. WIN!! Upgraded to a 3* Crowne Plaza Meadowlands. Our last night is @ a B and B in Jersey City. Now, I have to go cancel all my backup reservations. Thanks for all your help. Is there any great pizza or bagels in this area? Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $110.00 Subtotal: $220.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $44.57 Total Charges*: $264.57
  4. I bid 140.00 again for Jersey City( denied). I noticed that they have a new 3.5* listing. Maybe the Hyatt is now upgraded to a 3.5*
  5. IF it was the Residence Inn, how would that be in regards to transportation. I found the Howard Johnston in N. Bergen for 84.99. They offer a shuttle into NYC for 6.00 each way. That sounds cheap, but if its per person, it comes to 24.00 each day for both my spouse and I. So, we'd be paying 109.00 and I'm not sure how often the shuttle runs, etc( I have an email into the manager). Ideally I'd like a hotel where I could have the posibility of going back to the room mid-day if required. I bid again for NYC going up to 140.00 for 2.5* and was denied.
  6. I thought I'd try priceline for this area. Bid 90, 100 and 110, unsuccesful. Gahhhhh!!! I just checked Expedia. They have the Embassy suites for 249.00. I believe its the 3* on Hotwire( it has a S icon) for 125.00. Expedia has the Crowne Plaza for 139.00 so its quite possibly the same 3.5* that Hotwire is showing for 123.00( up from the original 119.00). The reviews on Expedia for the Crowne are not that great. What do you know of the Embassy suites?
  7. Would the Crowne Plaza be a better choice than the Best Western Robert Treat hotel I have booked( as backup). I believe that is in Newark.
  8. Oh gosh, this is so confusing. How would a JFK hotel be in comparison. HOTWIRE has a 3* for 109.00. No smoking, shuttle, fitness, restaurant, laundry and hi speed. The free shuttle from the airport sounds nice. How hard is it to get from the hotel into NYC? eta: From the Hotwire List this looks to be the Doubletree. Would you concur?
  9. 125.00 rejected. Are there any other zones in this area that are acceptable( ie: Easy transporation into NYC?) I already have my last night booked at a B and B in Jersey City. The reason I did this is because its very high rated( it was only 100.58 tax included) and they'll allow us to leave our luggage there all day( our plane leaves JFK at 9pm)
  10. Bid on this for my Mother-in-law. Denied at 38.00, rebid next day at 45.00. I did use the PRICELINE link.
  11. I tried 3* for 150.00 too. I was denied as well. Can you please give me a bidding strategy?
  12. Here is the latest.... I was rejected for 130, 140 and 150 for NYC( MTE, MTW, Times square). I only bid 4* I stopped at 150.00. Things dont seem to be looking very good for this week.
  13. Yes, I know about the Doubletree. After I posted, I checked the rates on Hotwire, Expedia, etc and the Hyatt isnt even showing availble( on Expedia). Anyway, I'm not stuck with bidding on this zone. Maybe I should try 145 for MTE as I've seen some wins for that area( 4*). I might be willing to up my budget if I can stay in Manhatten. So, can you give me a bidding strategy? PS: I did use the links.
  14. I started at 80.00, rejected. Added Elizabeth and upped to 90.00 Rejected again. I looked on Hotwire and didnt see this hotel listed as an option. Can you give me a bidding strategy. My flight is booked and I'm looking for the hotel stay( I'd like to stay under 125.00 each night). Thanks Randi
  15. Stayed 4 nights( Aug 8-11th) for 75.00. I agree with Amy one post up, the A/C was not working well. I had the thermostat set at 65.9 and it felt more like 73F. I called to have someone look at it, and he said it wasnt at the temperature stated. It wasnt annoying enough to move rooms though. I thought the room was nice, but the service in the hotel was not up to 4* level. They lost 2 of my ice packs and gave me major attitude about it. Also, they nickel and dime you TO DEATH. Internet is 14 plus change a night. Seems rather steep to me. If you want to use the business center, its 7.00 for 15 minutes. Parking is 50 a day( outrageous), thankfully we took the train into chicago( 8 hrs from Port Huron) I got a fridge for free because I'm diabetic, but otherwise its 25.00 per stay. Toll free calls and 800 number calls are charged at 1.15 plus tax. I disputed the charges on the toll free calls and got a refund. The Hyatt has removed all pay phones from the lobby, so its not like you have a choice. The hotel also has no pool, but if you want to swim, they'll give you a guest pass for the Sheraton.
  16. We paid 55.00 for Sunday July 13th-08 and 107 for Monday and Tuesday. We did have a rental car but parked at a relatives house for 2 of the nights. We had a minor altercation( like the above poster) with the parking attendent on the last night we did park( we had an early flight out so we decided to park our last night at the hotel). The room was very spacious with wonderful ammenities. The room at hi speed internet, a large flat panel LG tv, upgrading bedding and bath and body toilietries. The hotel puts out large bowls of fruit every day( often 2 or 3 kinds). We had the breakfast buffet and while it was good, it wasnt worth the 16.95 price. The hotel was in a great location within walking distance to almost everything. The staff was helpful and knowledgable. Totally worth the price paid.
  17. Stay was July 16-08 for two nights. Paid 79.00 on Hotwire for 3ppl in room. If I said we were 2 guests, it was 69.00. We had our neice with us who was going to use the children's pool so I paid the xtra 10.00 for her. We actually had 4 ppl in the room. The room was tiny!! As the above poster noted, the beds took up the majority of the room. We supposedly got an upgraded room. When I asked what was "premier" about it, I was told that it was newly renovated. That might be true, but the renovation skipped the bathroom because that was in bad shape. Parking was 25.00CAD a day( self park) 29.00 (valet). This hotel nickel and dimed us to death. there was a 1.50 charge each time I made a 1-800 phone call. Internet was 12.00 a day in your room. It was 6.00 for 15 minutes if you wanted to use the business center. We got our parking comped( and 2 free meals) because there were numerous fresh blood droplets on a pillowcase when we checked in and unpacked. Turns out the maid had an open sore on her finger and dripped blood everywhere( I later found it on the wall by the light switch). Our room was on the 19th floor. This room had a door that opened onto a filthy balcony. There is a pool( indoor) on the 27th floor. Children are not allowed to use this pool. The children's pool is also indoors on the second floor. I would not willingly stay at this hotel again.
  18. Here are the icon's. Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access, Children's Activity Program I pretty much knew it was the Delta Chelsea( I've stayed there before) because of the Children's Activity Program. I also double checked by looking at the hotels included w/ the packages. I dont see my original post of 65.00 that was denied. Did you delete it? If so, just curious as to why? I for one would like to see unsuccesful bids so I know where to start my bidding. Because its not included in this post, my first post of this thread doesnt make sense.
  19. I used the HOTWIRE link and got the Delsea Chelsea for 79.00( it was 69.00 for just 2 adults and when I added the child, it jumped to 79.00). Total for 2 days with fee's was 182.00
  20. I'm just bidding for downtown as we're going to see Dirty Dancing. I was going to try again today for 75.00. I think 85.00 is max for a 4 star. There is a 3.5 star on Hotwire for downtown east. Its 69.00 with a children's activity program. Do you know if thats the Delta Chelsea? My neice loves that hotel and that would be great to get that.
  21. Rejected 4* Downtown Toronto at $65 Boo Hooo!!
