  1. Thanks for your info. I needed one more night in OC ( March 22nd)so I started my bid for a 3.5 @ 36.00 and was successful. I used the PRICELINE link too.
  2. Last Tuesday, I bid on PRICELINE for a car @ LAX for 12 days. I bid the night before I needed it and I was succesful. I did have a backup reservation that I made last September. I looked at the rates for the 12 days I needed the car and they were ridiculous, over 350 a week for a midsize. Take Thereuares advice and make a backup reservation and then bid closer to the date you need the car. I've always found that Enterprise is the cheapest. In my case, Hertz was cheaper than any other company. I used a code( car and driver magazine) that I found on this website.
  3. I bid 12$ and was declined. I did use the PRICELINE link. I got an email telling me I can rebid so I upped it to 20 and was succesful( If I use the link in the email to rebid, does BB still get credit?) Total was 336. and change I had a reservation for 410.27 ( made last September). Rates were RIDICULOUS if you didnt have a reservation. I supposedly saved ( according to Priceline) something like 750.00. In reality, I saved about 75.00.
  4. Used the PRICELINE link. First bid of 42.00 accepted. I need this for a late arriving flight before driving back to Ontario.
  5. Sounds to me like it could be the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa. But, the Diplomat is on the Beach, so I'm not sure. There is also The Diplomat Golf Resort and Spa which is near the beach. Thats located in Hallandale Beach.
  6. Just an FYI, I paid 47.00 not 45.00 as the title reflects.
  7. I got 2 more nights for the same price. March 17th- 19th. Started bidding at 45, given counter offer of 13.00. Added long Beach downtown zone and raised by 2.00. Used the PRICELINE link.
  8. Started with 50 for a 3* in Dana Point/San Clemente. Increased to 55 for Laguna Beach, denied. Increased to 61 and added Laguna/Mission Viejo. I'm ok with this as its still only 12 miles from where I need to be. Used the PRICELINE link.
  9. Paid 42.00 for Valentine Weekend 2009. Overall a nice stay. Room is fairly spacious and includes the Keurig Coffee system. I asked for a fridge for insulin and that request was granted no problem. The entire hotel is non-smoking which is nice. The King Size bed was comfy with a down comforter and premium bedding( their words, not mine). The bathroom was small, but the shower head was nice with a lot of water pressure. There is a computer in the lobby for guest use. I think the best thing about the hotel is location. Its on Niagara Falls Blvd very close to great shopping and the Falls of course. I gave my Priority club membership card but was told I couldnt receive points( which I already knew). That was the only mention of Priceline.
  10. Gleaned info from a previous poster's Priceline Win. Bid 42$ accepted first bid. Used the PRICELINE link.
  11. Thanks for the info. I just "won" the same hotel for 42.00. Fri Feb 13th- Mon, Feb 16th. If you need any restaurant recs, let me know!! I did use the PRICELINE link.
  12. I was sucessful w/ a 3*( I bid on 2) and was upgraded. Try the LBairport zone first. I got the residence inn for 47.00.
  13. Finally, sucess!! Persistance paid off. Declined again at $45. I went up to $47 and was upgraded to a 3*( better than ESA) Residence Inn By Marriott Long Beach Long Beach Airport Area (LGB) 4111 East Willow Street Long Beach, California 90815 562-595-0909 $47.00 Subtotal: $47.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.11 Total Charges*: $61.11 Thereuare, can you please edit the title!! Btw, I did use the PRICELINE link.
  14. 40 declined. Got a counter offer of 12$. I declined that and raised by 3$. Rejected again!! I cant believe I can't get the ESA for $40.00.
  15. I walked my sister thru this, so no use of the PRICELINE link( sorry). She was looking for a 2.5 or better in Hollywood (she's going to be in the audience of Dr. Phil) First bid of 50.00 rejected. I told her to add BevHills/West Hollywood as there were no 2.5* there. She ( and I) didnt realize she'd be upgraded to a 3*. She's still only 7 miles away from the studio so no biggie. Total with tax 87 and change.
  16. Too bad you couldnt have won the Hampton. Its a great hotel( the hotel review is mine) and when I "won" it last June, I was jumping for joy.
  17. I saw a 2* for 49.00 on Hotwire. I bid the airport area knowing it was probably the Extended Stay America. I only need it for one night( arriving at 10pm) so this didnt really bother me, although I'm not a fan of ESA. I bid 30$ and then 35$( after adding the downtown area). I'm actually surprised I was declined.
  18. This is exactly why I thought this hotel would work. The shuttle does run 24/7 so dumping the car the night before makes a lot of sense. You can take the shuttle back to the hotel at night and to the airport in the morning. Much easier than dealing with returning a rental car that early in the morning. The renovation shouldnt affect you that much because you have such an early flight.
  19. I'd appreciate it too. Btw, I started at 40$ based on a 59$ 2.5 star I saw on Hotwire. After I "won" at 40.00, I wondered if I could have maybe gotten it for 38.00. I'm glad to see I was pretty spot on!!
  20. I needed 1 night as I have a 6am flight back to Detroit. I also needed a shuttle as I'm dropping my rental car off the night before. Got this on the first try, used the PRICELINE link. Holiday Inn Los Angeles Airport Los Angeles Airport (LAX) 9901 La Cienega Blvd Los Angeles, California 90045 310-649-5151 $40.00 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.97 Total Charges*: $52.97
  21. Stayed 2 nights( Oct 27-29th). Paid 110.00 on Priceline. Personally, I thought the room was more of a 2.5 than a 3*. We were given the handicapped room( non-smoking king). The shower was disgusting and old. The toilet seat was high and uncomfortable. The bed was supposed to be new, but it didnt feel that way. There was a little gift pouch on the bed that contained earplugs and a mask. When I opened it, the mask was missing and the ear plug pouch was open. I asked for a fridge for medication and was told there would be a charge. I told them about the ADA and the charge was waived. The 129 bus was close and easy to get to NYC. It took about 45 minutes due to morning traffic. The last day, we took the 2 bus to Jersey City to check into a B and B. The PATH station is at the Journal square stop( last stop) and that takes 15 min to get into NYC.
  22. We're back. I'll review this hotel, but I thought I'd post a bit of an update here too. The hotel was fine, nothing spectacular. The bus took almost 1hr each morning and cost 5.10 for 2ppl each way. The first morning, we got the last 2 seats. The second morning, we checked out and checked into a B and B in Jersey City. Its closest to the Journal Square Path station. The owner picked us up and dropped us back off at the station. We walked back to the B and B from the station at night and the area was safe. The PATH train was really fast, it took about 15 min to get from that station to WTC station. On our last day, we took our luggage with us and took the PATH to Penn Station. We bought a ticket on the LIRR for the Jamaica station and we were able to check our luggage for the day at the Amtrack baggage check. It cost 4.50 a bag. You must have a train ticket( either amtrack or LIRR). That saved us a trip back to the B and B to pick up our bags as our plane was departing JFK at 9pm. We took the LIRR and then the airtrain( 24.00 for both) and the total travel time was 1hr. To contrast, it cost 39.00 for the supershuttle to a hotel in Times Square where we met my friend on our first day. Thanks for all your help. The next time I go, I'll try to get the Hyatt on the Hudson before making a plane reservation.
  23. Just an FYI, this is the NY Marathon weekend. I had terrible luck bidding from 10/27-10/30. Granted, I only went up to 160.00, but I think you might have better luck in NJ.
