  1. Could be the Marquette hotel or the Raddison. ~JS
  2. I've gotten this before, although I forget what I bid in the past. They must have something going on this weekend. ~JS
  3. King rooms are usually more desirable, so getting a double, you have a good chance. Last time I stayed there I got a double but wanted a king. ~JS
  4. Their pretty good to their HOTWIRE/priceline customers. I've won once a long time ago, and they even gave me gold points!! ~JS
  5. Sorry, I just had to put this in as well. There are two La Quinta hotels in Bloomington. One that use to be a Baymount and the one that was a Clarion. That one is a La Quinta Inn and Suites. Although some on tripAdvisor call it La Dumpa. :) ~JS
  6. The Holiday Inn on I-35W is in the Central location as that zone covers that area. Holiday Inn Select would still be in the east zone as it is on the far eastern area of that area. ~JS Added: The Holiday Inn in the West zone comes over to the Central zone as well as probably the Hampton inn.
  7. I found this useful for loose change last time I flew. Have a bottle cap to put the change in. It is easy to scoop up afterwards too. ~JS
  8. thereuare is going to have fun reorganizing the hotels.:) ~JS
  9. I would say anything your not sure about, pack in your checked luggage. Also, anything that could leak or explode (like hairspray) pack it in a good ziploc bag. ~JS
  10. A cash tip may last them about a week or less. A written postitive comment card last a year or more. ~JS
  11. I've stayed there before and yes expensive parking is unavoidable, although I would call them and ask for your options. They are also pretty accomidating with request, I would put them ahead of time. Also unless you want to walk a mile out of your way to stay warm, I would suggest avoiding the skyways until you get to the more central core of the skyway system by Macy's or the Target store. By the sounds of it, you wanted to stay in Bloomington. To get down there better, take the lightrail to aviod the hassle of traffic and go from there. Maybe take a bus on Nicolett to the lightrail and transfer. Here is a map of downtown Minneapolis to help in some planning. ~JS
  12. "I have heard"... that with the desk agent, you flash the cash and then tip after getting a good room. Also that tipping the bellhop regular for the room you wanted, or under if they don't help you get you a better room after getting a subpar room. Flashing and tipping more if you get a subpar room, and they call down and get you a better room. Also that a positive comment card is better than tipping more sometimes. Also jquero, who would say is more flexable, the regular person (or kid at the desk) or one of the managers? One of my past experiences, is that I checked in with a manager and she told me my rate didn't include free breakfast, even though I brought a sheet that said it did (she said it was only M-F). So I go up and settle and figured I go back down and take another shot. Sure enough, there was a younger guy there and I asked with the same approach, and sure enough got the free $15 Sunday brunch. I wrote a positive comment card and dropped it off at the desk. Okay enough ranting.:) ~JS
  13. When I booked my cruise, I booked an inside cabin, and got upgraded to an outside view (I've heard this is very rare). I recommend outside view, because then you would be able to tell whether it is day or night and your body clock won't get as screwed up. Occasionally you can see another ship in the distance at night. Also mid ship is where you want to be so you don't get as motion sick. Trans-atlantic crossings I have heard can be very rough, especially if there is a storm system spinning in the Atlantic. So if you can afford it, I recommend getting an ouside view. Also go to cruisecritic.com to help you plan. ~JS
  14. For those of you in the biz, which one would you give better service to. Joe A find a special rate AB Hotel, and books it. Joe B use Priceline/Hotwire and just happens to get AB hotel. The question I have is, if AB hotel is moderately full to full, which one would you more likely give the better room to? Any insight would be great. (BTW I found the Radisson DTWN Minneapolis for $75 through the end of March.:)). ~JS
  15. Why would you want to avoid being upgraded? I would consider being upgraded a major plus seeing how you didn't pay extra for it. Bigger room, higher floor, better location, are usually the pluses of being upgraded. Especially since you would likely not be located two floors above the dumpster. ~JS
  16. Kind of sounds like the Holiday Inn Select, but it is more than usual. Maybe there is a convention in town? ~JS
  17. Anaheim and Las Vegas, I would think you could get a good 3 star for a pretty good price. Los Angeles, it would vary for a 3 star, especially if you have to pay for parking. Miami, will vary to be kind of high in price for a 3 star. New York City, Can be very high, and the location can be dangerous (dangerous, as in how far from the airport you would be, not nessicarily neighborhood). Just some ideas for you.:) ~JS
  18. Is he old enough to have a credit card? Oh wait, they give a credit card to anyone. Ask Bank Of America. ~JS
  19. I say be happy they didn't clean out a broom closet, plop a bed in it and call it a Hotwire/Priceline room. Also a roof over your head is better than sleeping in the parking lot. :) HotelMGR, I'm sure thereyouare, could make a whole thread for you. ~JS
  20. Just so you know, take to skyway to the lightrail to the Metrodome for TwinsFest this weekend ($10 at the door) and to the MOA for the Tulip fest. ~JS

  22. I got the same deal as the last person. Going rate, I think was $110 and got two doubles. :\ Oh well all was quite because of the last reviewer, I decided to stick to the eastern part of the building. ~JS Stayed on 12/2-12/4
