  1. That hotel is my guess too, both hotwire and the hotel itself claim there are "4 rooms left". I'm not sure if I am ready to commit to using HOTWIRE since the discount is only about ~$20 less than what I can get on kayak at that hotel with it being refundable up until 2 nights before. It looks like PRICELINE must be using other hotels in that area.
  2. I am wanting to bid in the Ramona, CA area of San Diego. It doesn't seem to be on any of the hotel lists, is this a new area? Hotwire has a 3-star choice available (I'm looking at 6/21/14, 1 night); 85% recommended Amenities Free Parking Free Internet Smoke Free Rooms Pool(s) Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Accessibility Accessible for the deaf Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Priceline seems to only have 1 and 2 star options for this area with guest score 8+
  3. I got this Hampton Inn for 3/8/13-3/9/13, $54 100% recommendation Amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access I had had an extra $20 discount from HOTWIRE so I used that to purchase the room
  4. 2 rooms, 2 nights Bid $66 on first bid, PL countered with free rebid if I increased bid by $11. I started a new bid and won with $71. Website list room for $159 ($143 w/ AAA) for those nights. We stayed at this hotel a couple months ago and liked it (not too close to the beach but its a new property and has decent breakfast) Not bad as everywhere seemed pretty booked for Mother's day weekend. My alternative was hotwire which was offering 3* for $83/night (probably same hotel or the Holiday Inn)
  5. Last minute trip, bid sameday around noon for $47 2.5* Psimo Beach (Thursday of President's weekend, 1-night), it countered with a free re-bid if I increased by $11. I started a new bid for $53 and won and it did give the option to add extra nights. I don't think this property is on the hotel list yet. This is a nice 6-month old property, spacious rooms (single King and double queens with 32" flat screens), pool, free wifi (but slow) and nice hotel breakfast (waffles, store bakery goods, juice, fresh fruit, oatmeal/cereal, eggs/sausage). They originally had me in a king but did switch me to a double queen that was available. No fridge in room but bedding/towels are defineyly 3+ star class. Property is in Arroyo Grande near 101 (a little freeway noise) but not too bad.
  6. FYI, typically you can re-bid for about half-way to their offer point and still win the bid
  7. This is as much of a scam as Orbitz price guarantee, the chances you can find the same deal for less at public rates with no coupons or discount codes are pretty small unless you really over-bid...
  8. Had been bidding on and off for a week up to $16/day ($12+$4 bonus) for a compact (about $95 with fees) but never got accepted. I already made a reservation with alamo using one of their last minute specials for $105 on a compact. I don't want to pay near a $100 on priceline even for a larger car as its nice to be able to cancel just in case. Its hard to believe the bonus bucks are real as that would make the priceline's real offer near what I could have rented direct with alamo for a standard using their site and available coupons (~$115)
  9. Just to follow up, there was plenty of free parking a block or two up Beryl Street. Hotel was very nice but rooms not as recently renovated as you'd expect with most 3.5* class hotels (still has a tube TV, no mini-bar, only small dorm fridge, no microwave, closet door was off track) but bedding was great and furniture acceptable. Parking is $20+ and wifi is another $10. The front desk did upgraded us to partial ocean view for no charge. I know there have been a lot of hit or miss reviews on this place, honestly for the rack rate I would have been disaapointed but at the priceline rate its a great value for a hotel right on the marina a couple blocks from sandy beaches and near a lot of the action. The rooms will probably be refurbished in the next 6-12 months so these good deals might be gone.
  10. Same day bidding. Tried at $48, got a counter to add $11. I added santa-monica (not a free re-bid but I know 3.5* go for a lot more there) and raised to $53. Accepted, with taxes about $68. I know they charge $22 for parking but I plan on finding an alternative garage or the street a couple blocks away. Used PRICELINE links. I also noticed this hotel was $69 on hotwire today (3 stars there) but had been more earlier in the week.
  11. started bidding 3* in East Allentown up to $34 and denied but gave counter at $49, added Bethlehem and it gave me this on first try. I think you need to update your hotel list as East Allentown and Bethlehem are separate bid areas (maybe not the case before)
  12. 11211 North Black Canyon Highway Ammenities: Suite, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access, Tennis Nearby
  13. oops, you are correct, the amenities were: suite and Laundry Facilities, I guess the washing machine looked like a safe at first glance. Oh well the reviews on the place are not so hot so we'll see what it turns out to be.
  14. amenities: suite, safe On the list ESA is listed as a 2.5* but I know there are a few in Vegas, this one is on 4240 Boulder Highway and lists less amenities
