  1. Here is the situation. I booked a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal that was promised to be located in Mid-Miami Beach. Once the booking was confirmed and the hotel was revealed, it turned out that it is located in Midtown Miami, so a completely different area, across Biscayne Bay. I contacted the Help Center; they even emailed me a pdf with a screenshot of what I saw while making the reservation, which clearly says Mid-Miami Beach. However, the agent insists that the hotel I got is located in the same area. I keep asking him to verify the non-opaque hotel list to see that it's in fact Midtown Miami. He replies that he did check it and this is the same area. After I talked to the agent for several minutes repeating the same information (he said that the reservation was non-refundable, cannot be changed, etc), I decided to stop the chat. I wonder if anyone of you has experienced anything similar. I am not sure how to ask them to compare maps and use some basic knowledge of geography - or even reading skills, to distinguish "Mid-Miami Beach" from "Midtown Miami". I was polite during the chat, but in the end I decided to stop. I suppose that if the website says "Your hotel will be located in Mid-Miami Beach Area," it is part of the contract. I asked the agent about what I should do in case I book a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal in Miami which in the end turns out to be located in New York.

I can provide more details about the hotel, but I don't want to mislead anyone in case Priceline bothers to correct the error.

  2. Amenities

    Business center

    Fitness center

    Internet access

    Pet friendly

    Restaurant(s)

    Smoke-free rooms

I guessed it could be the Westin before making the reservation, but it was a bit hard because Hotwire didn't show the exact number of hotel reviews (just "2,000+ reviews") and on the standard rate hotel list, Hotwire doesn't provide the accurate number of reviews (5,003, which changes into 2,617 on clicking the hotel name). The resort fee of USD29 was helpful for the guessing purposes, as there is only one hotel with that rate in Midtown East.

By the way, this hotel is also available on Priceline as a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal for USD95 for the same date, but the additional fees and taxes charged by Priceline are higher (USD51.98 on Priceline versus 30.97 on Hotwire). On Pricline this is a 4.5 star hotel in the Grand Central Terminal - UN Area, with the following amenities:

    Pets Allowed

    No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

    Fitness Center

    Handicapped Rooms/Facilities

    Business Center

    Restaurant

    The rates are as follows:

    $95/night1 King Bed

$297/night1 King Bed + Sofabed - Deluxe Room

    $313/night2 Double Beds

$313/night2 Double Beds - Deluxe Room

$336/night1 King Bed + Sofabed - Premium Room

And the following statement appears "Book soon! Someone recently got the Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza."

The guest rating and the number of reviews indicate it must be the Westin though.

  3. Amenities:

    Free Internet Available

    No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

    Fitness Center

    Handicapped Rooms/Facilities

    Business Center

    Free Internet Access

    Rooms:

    $93/night - 2 Double Beds

    $93/night - 1 King Bed

There was also another express deal in the same area for the same date for USD98, with the following amenities:

    Free Internet Available

    No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

    Pets Allowed

    Fitness Center

    Restaurant

Judging by the ranking and the number of reviews, it was Double Tree by Hilton at Wall Street, but the AC Marriott had much better reviews (and in my view, also a better location).

All the NYC properties are considerably more expensive during the week, especially around Thursday and Friday (14-15 Nov), unfortunately.

  4. I chose to pay in EUR and it was EUR 80 plus taxes/fees, EUR 120 in total.

    Amenities:

    Bed Choice Available

    Free Internet In Room

    Free Internet In Public Areas

    Free Breakfast

    Free Internet Access

    Additional amenities:

    Pets Allowed

    Indoor Swimming Pool

    No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

    Fitness Center

    Handicapped Rooms/Facilities

    Swimming Pool

    Business Center

In a separate express deal, I booked this hotel also for two additional nights (8-10 Nov), and the rate was almost the same. A very good deal, I suppose.

  5. Here are all the amenities listed in my reservation confirmation:

Amenities: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Airport shuttle, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Internet access

    Accessibility: In-room accessibility, Accessible parking

I have added a short note to my previous NYC Hotwire hotel thread - I chose a different hotel in the end (Iberostar) and I reported my win in a separate thread.

  6. 3-star Hotel in IAH Airport West area

Amenities: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Airport shuttle, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s)

    80% recommended Good (6 reviews) Tripadvisor (1000 - 501 reviews)

The name of the hotel was hinted at - I got the note "Book soon! The last person got the Hyatt Place Bush Intercontinental Airport," but I am aware that this announcement doesn't necessarily reveal the actual hotel. In this case it did, but I also guessed the hotel earlier. I think it is a very nice win.

It could be a good idea to add this property to the Hotwire hotel list; I think it's not there yet.

  7. The hotel is now a PRICELINE EXPRESS offer (also available on Hotwire), with the rate of USD 77. I have decided to bid in order to see what happens and whether the rate (which was already excellent) can be a little bit lowered. I bid EUR 62 (USD 69) and won it, and I was a bit surprised by that because I thought I would be rejected.  Here are the hotel amenities:

    Pets Allowed

    Free Internet

    Indoor or Outdoor Pool

    Fitness Center

The room will be assigned at check-in.

This property is on the Hotwire hotel list, but as far as I could determine, it hasn't been added to the Priceline hotel list yet. I think it is an excellent deal for Boston (the standard Priceline rate for this hotel on this date is USD 206, which includes a 10% discount member deal).

  8. Room type: 1 Double - Non-Smoking - Standard - City View (there are some other room types: 1 queen, 1 king deluxe, which are more expensive). I switched the currency and paid EUR 111.

    Hotel Amenities:

     Pets Allowed

     Business Center

     Free Internet

     Fitness Center

     No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

I used the exclusive 5% BB discount to lower this rate.

Initially I wanted to NYOP for this hotel, but Priceline added a hefty resort fee to my bidding amount, so I gave up.

I was also hesitating about the following property for the same dates:

    $118 4-Star Express Deal Hotel

    Brooklyn Downtown Area

    Hotel Amenities:

     Business Center

     Restaurant

     Free Internet

     Fitness Center

     No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

Judging by the rating and the number of reviews, I am pretty sure it is the Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, which looks like an excellent hotel, but the Iberostar is in a considerably better location for my purposes.

I tried bidding a few times for this hotel, with $108 as the highest amount, but all my bids were rejected. Then I thought it's not worth bidding and taking the risk given the availability of the 5% BB discount. In the end I found the offer for the Iberostar and concluded it was a more favorable option.

  9. Please help me identify this hotel, 4-star Boutique Hotel in Rockefeller Center area, rates vary between usd 101-112, the lower rate is available especially on weekends in July/August. At first I thought this could be W hotel, but the number of reviews doesn't match, and also W doesn't list "Children's activities" among its amenities.

The list of amenities is quite detailed:

Boutique hotel, Business center Children's activities Fitness center Golf nearby Internet access Pet friendly Restaurant(s) Spa services

323 total reviews on Hotwire (80% recommended)

Tripadvisor ranking: 3.5 out of 5 (2001+ reviews)

    Thank you!

  10. I managed to lower the rate by $15 bu using the HOTWIRE coupon announced on BB.

    Free breakfast

    Amenities:

    Business center

    Fitness center

    Golf nearby

    Internet access

    Kitchenette

    Restaurant(s)

    Self-service laundry

    Smoke-free rooms

Internet is free for Hilton Honors members. I've joined the program for this reason, but it seems WiFi is free only if a hotel has been booked via the hotel website.

I wanted to book the hotel yesterday to be able to make use of the coupon. However, the rate suddenly went up and I found it a bit strange: for single occupancy the rate was still $106, and it was even possible to book more than one room at this rate. Yet, when I changed it into double occupancy, it would go up significantly (about $150-160). Fortunately, the rate went down again today in the morning (European time), and I was still able to apply the BB coupon because it was still May 5th in some parts of the USA.

I guessed the hotel name easily before making the reservation, so I was pretty sure which property I was about to book. I am very happy with the result; I think it is a very good deal.

  11. I obtained it via a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal and it was my first booking on Priceline ever.

Perhaps someone more experienced is willing to enlighten me: I am surprised I got this hotel because I couldn't find a match for this Express Deal on the regular hotel lists. After the hotel name was revealed to me, I searched for it by name and it turns out PRICELINE has no availability for this date. Then I searched for it on kayak and it turns out to be available only on Anoma, for 235 usd plus tax. What does it indicate: could it be that the hotel is nearly completely booked because of a convention and they are selling out the remaining rooms? Another interesting observation: I got this deal by clicking the PRICELINE add at the top of BB. I couldn't find it otherwise. It pays to enter PRICELINE via this website.

It will be my first Priceline stay ever. I am planning to arrive early and leave in the late afternoon. I hope the hotel will be able to store my bag before/after check-in/out.
