  1. Is there a away to post an image? I can't post a link.
  2. Needed a last minute room. No luck bidding on a 3* using PRICELINE, so when I saw this HOTWIRE price, I jumped on it. Expected the best western or holiday inn. Was surprised to see Hotwire has changed the la Quinta rating from 2.5* to 3*. All in price was $95, about ten dollars cheaper than the LQ website with AAA discount. Still, good price and the hotel is clean and comfortable. Went through The better bidding HOTWIRE link. Amenities: free parking, ffree breakfast, free internet, pet friendly, pool, indoor pool, self service laundry, Internet access.
  3. Amenities were Parking, Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Bus Center, Internet, Accessible Blind, Accessible Deaf. Was hoping for the Hyatt Regency but the Westin is fine for this last minute stay. Including taxes came to $86. Interestingly there was a 4* Priceline Express for $63, but it had "pets allowed" which made me think it was the embassy suites, which I'd rather avoid. Used the BB HOTWIRE link.
  4. Started bidding 3.5 stars at $50, added 3.0 stars at $55, then added glen burnie and bid $60 and got the Four Points. Was hoping for the Aloft, but at least the Four Points is right at the airport. Total cost with taxes and fees was $76.45. As an aside, I was bidding for a rental car for the same dates and bid up to $9 for a mid-size ($25 with fees) and it wasn't accepted.. Budget had a retail rate of $26 for a midsize, incl fees and unlimited miles.
  5. Just in case anyone has a similar concern- there's plenty of street parking in the area, and street parking is free from 6 PM to 8 AM. I bet it would be harder on a Friday night though. The Intercontinental is a hotel obviously past it's prime. Stained carpets, Tube TVs, old shower heads. This is a hotel in desperate need of a facelift. To be fair, it's got large rooms, comfortable beds, and it's in a great location.
  6. Stayed at this hotel about ten years ago. Great location. Rooms were nice, but small. You might have trouble finding parking in the area.
  7. They're working on the house and it looks like we need to vacate for a night. There was a 4* on Hotwire for $65, so I felt comfortable bidding $55 for a 4* downtown. Accepted on the first try. Taxes and fees were $16 and change, for a total price of $71. Kinda wish I had started at $45 and worked my way up! Ah well. Never stayed at the IC before. Now, do I try and find overnight parking downtown, or just take the streetcar? Went through the PRICELINE link.
  8. I had $5/night in bonus cash in my account. Had been trying New Orleans Downtown zones, tried 4* and 3.5* for FQ/CBD/Convention Center/Garden District, bid from $50 to $70 with no luck. Must be something going on in town. I bid 3.5* in metairie at $45 + $5 bonus, no luck, added FQ and bid $50 + $5 bonus and got the Marriott. It'll do for one night. Total $65.88 with taxes and fees. Went through the PRICELINE link.
  9. I had $5 in bonus cash per night in my priceline account. Started with $40+$5 bonus, got a $53+5 counteroffer. Added St Charles-St Peters and bid $45+$5, accepted. 10/29/11-10/31/11. Total $113 with taxes and fees. Went through the PRICELINE link.
  10. Interesting note- National in Raleigh doesn't have any economy cars- the smallest they rent is compact. The person in front of me when I went to pick up my car had a PRICELINE bid for economy, but got a compact sedan.
  11. Back from raleigh. I was a little worried about the quality of the hotel, but it was fine. Very technically 3* due to amenities but I think it would be a little more honest to sell it as 2.5*. (A lot of internal signage still refers to the hotel as a wyndham garden inn). Reminds me of a lot of highway holiday inns and four points sheratons I've stayed in. Rooms on the small side, and could use a refresh but were clean and comfortable. Beds very soft and lots of pillows. Call in to confirm a non-smoking room- I did and think it was a smart move. Breakfast buffet was something like $15 per person- not worth it with so many decent fast food options in the area. A decent room very close to RDU airport, but not much of a discount off their regular internet discount rate ($80 inclusive).
  12. Bid for a compact at $14, no dice, added economy and upped to $16, no dice. Waited 24 hours, bid compact at $16, accepted. 7 days plus fees and taxes = $165. HOTWIRE price was $20.95, but lower fees (somehow), would have been $185. Saved a few bucks. Wish I had started at economy. Bid through the PRICELINE link (as always!)
  13. Initially bid $35, no bites, added RDU airport for free rebid at $41. No dice. Waited 24 hours, bid at $45, accepted. Mixed reviews on tripadvisor- I guess we'll see how it is when we get there. Was hoping for the doubletree or radisson, but you take what you get. $45 + $13 in fees = $58 total. Cheapest online rate is $80- didn't really save all that much. Ah well, win some, lose some. Went through the PRICELINE link.
  14. The shuttle is usually very convenient and the drivers often give impromptu tours as they drop guests off. It won't be fast, though- budget up to an hour for the transfer.
  15. First bid at $27 rejected, bid again at $32, rejected, bid again at $36, accepted for one night. Still a great deal. Your Offer Price: $36.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.36 Total Charges: $48.36
