  1. Got a great deal for The Liaison Capitol Hill via hotels.com a few days back. Thanks again
  2. Ended up getting a very good deal for the Wyndham New Yorker via hotels.com a few days ago. Thanks for your help everyone
  3. Great deal. Saved myself a few hundred for the week compared to the normal PRICELINE offers, and about $70 compared PRICELINE EXPRESS. Couldn't have asked for more. Thanks to thereuare for helping me out
  4. Thanks again thereuare, I bid and won Sheraton's Fisherman's Wharf through your link for PRICELINE. I had to adjust my bidding strategy because as soon as I signed up and gave my Australia address it converted my bid from USD to AUD. If my conversion is correct I won the hotel at $175 USD a night (excluding taxes), and it was about $60 or $70 dollars cheaper that the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for the week. Can't complain about that :) Thanks to everyone's for their help
  5. $170 per night Complimentary: Free Internet Amenities: Boutique Hotel, Business Center, Fitness Center, Self-Service Laundry
  6. Nothing specific about the roger, it was one of the cheapest, and it had a higher recommendation percentage. I just want to stay in a decent place, so I am looking at a number of options. Free WIFI is probably a must though. I also found a very good price for The Rosevelt Hotel, but the rooms are very small compared to the other hotels I was looking at.
  7. Hey everyone, as I just stated in my San Fran post I need to lock in my accommodation now. Sorry to those who offered help previously, I never got around to actually bidding or locking in a deal, but now I need to figure something out today. I have spent a few hours this morning looking up NYC hotels. I would still prefer 4*, but not too picky on what areas I want to stay in. Midtown area seems like the best all-rounder, but in all honestly I am willing to stay anywhere south of central park. I found a deal on hotwire for a 4* hotel in Union Square for a decent price, which I think is The Roger, but I am looking at any option on offered. Still hoping for $200 - $250, anything under would be awesome Thanks again
  8. OK, my apologies. I was going to get my accommodation a few weeks ago, but ended up holding off. I have no choice now, need to get my bookings done. So I plan to lock in my accommodation today. Again, would prefer to stay in Fisherman's Wharf. Was keen on either the Sheraton or similar, depending on what is available and the price range. Would prefer to keep it under $200 still, and would like a 4* still. Thanks for your help
  9. OK, will do. I was planning on bidding or outright purchasing all my accommodation tomorrow, so I will post just prior to doing so in all topics I have started. Hopefully I haven't wasted anyones time in the meantime
  10. I haven't yet. As I said in my initial post I am trying to sort everything out, then book all at once. I can book those accommodations first if need be. My apologies if that is whats required
  11. Hi again, I am just about to bid or grab the best deal I can for my US trip, but I have one more stop and one more query. I am looking at staying in DC from 20/04 - 24/04, don't really mind what area I stay in, as long as I can get into the mall / central DC pretty easily. Again I would prefer 4*, can drop to 3* if there are some good deals. I know its peak time there when I want to go, so I don't expect a great deal, but chasing the best i can find. Any help or strategies, as always, is very appreciated
  12. thereuare, the first link for the 3.5*, I can get to that deal via your link, but if I search for it or change currency on that page, it disappears and reloads on the express page and says 'Pricing and inventory changes often and the deal you selected is no longer available. However, we still have the following deals below' If the deal is still available via your link, does that mean its still available? Not sure if this is the case. Again, thanks heaps for your time, I really do appreciate it
  13. Thanks thereuare, some great options there. I'll let you know what I go with
  14. Don't really have any specific needs here, just chasing a good hotel for the least amount of money really. Any zone is OK south of Central Park I think. Can anyone make any suggestions about what zone would be better for a first time visitor? I'll mainly be out doing the tourist thing during the days, and not too concerned with the nightlife anymore.
  15. Hi all, I am trying to sort out my accommodation and have previously posted in the San Francisco forum, and now I need to get an idea of where I am staying in the big apple. I am arriving in NYC on April 14 and I think I will head down to DC on the 20th. I will probably head back to NYC before I head home, but for now I am chasing some advice for the 14th - 20th. I would prefer a 4* hotel depending on the price, and I am looking at staying around Midtown (although I am open to other regions if the deals are better). I am hoping to get under $250, less would be better but I don't know how I'll go with that. Any help or suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks
  16. Oh really? I have been looking on priceline (not bidding) and I have selected San Francisco City, not SFO as it will be too far away, too much back and forth, and there are many options to pick up at San Francisco (city regions) and drop off at LAS
  17. Hey Everyone, I have recently looked into hiring a car from April 6 - 12, San Francisco to Las Vegas. I have found some pretty good deals via priceline, but thought I would post here and ask for additional advice. I need unlimited miles because I will be driving here and there on the way, and I also want something comfortable if I am on the road that whole time. I initially wanted a muscle car, but I have moved away from that idea as it is somewhat impractical (need the luggage space) and its also super expensive for what cars they provide. So I now think I want a bigger more relaxing ride, and have looked at full size SUV's like Chevy Tahoe's, or standard SUV's like Jeep Grand Cherokee's. So, does anyone have any recommendations as to where to look, possible bidding options, or even suggestions on what companies to go with or avoid. Thanks guys
  18. thereuare, thanks for the method above. I have read over the priceline re-bidding explained, but I am a little cautious to go ahead and start bidding before I know exactly what I am doing, as I am worried I will get a hotel in a location I don't want. Am i right in presuming that I have to find zones that don't have 4* hotels in them in order to re-bid in the Fisherman's Wharf zone that I do want?
  19. Yes that correct, it was $177 through priceline express. Well I could only find 2 hotels in Fisherman's Wharf at 4*, and I would stay at either one, so not too picky there. In all honesty I would pay the asking price of $177 on priceline express, just wanted to see if I could get it a bit cheaper. So lets say $170 would be my max
  20. So after some discussion with the missus, seems like 'we' would prefer to stay in the Fisherman's Wharf area. I have looked around and can find what I believe to be Sheraton Fishermans Wharf for $177 a night on PRICELINE. How do you think I would go if I did some bidding?
  21. OK, that's good to know. I'd rather book and have it sorted earlier, but it'll be a judgement call in the end. I am definitely getting a better deal regardless going through your suggestions, so thanks for that
  22. Hey guys, Thanks for the replies. I have looked extensively into these options. I would have thought that the dates I am visiting would have been off peak. With this in mind I am highly considering risking the wait then booking a week or less out from the day I arrive. It seems that prices drastically decrease closer to the date of booking (depending on the dates), and as I am going during off peak I thought it wouldn't be too hard getting a place to stay and potentially a better deal. Also, I am not entirely sure as to what district to stay in. I have to take in account public transport costs if I stay near union station and want to get down to the bay all the time. Plus if I am staying a week I wouldn't mind a place with half a view. When I bid I will definitely go through the link on this site. Thanks again for you opinions and options
  23. Hey everyone, First and foremost I'd appreciate any help that I could get in trying to bid on Priceline, and thanks in advance for any help. I am from Brisbane, Australia and I am finally taking my long desired holiday to the states. I will be needing accommodation everywhere I go, and after researching a bit I am pretty happy with what I can find, excluding San Francisco (and maybe New York - might post separately in that forum). Anyhow, San Francisco is a touch more expensive than I expected, and with the falling aussie dollar I need to try and save as much as I can. I will be arriving in San Francisco on the 30th of March, and leaving on a road trip on the 6th of April (after catching warriors game on the 5th). I would prefer to stay around Fishermans Wharf, with the Marina - Lombard Street, and Financial District - Embarcadero as my secondary choices, and Union Square East and West as my third preferences. I would prefer my hotels to be a minimum of 3.5 stars (as from what I have read some of the 3.5 star hotels match the 4 stars in the area). The cheapest hotel I have been able to find in Fisherman's Wharf is the Sheraton (well at least I am pretty sure its the Sheraton) under the express deals tab, which is at $214USD a night. Considering I am staying for a week I would prefer to get somewhere under the $200 mark, possibkly $150? I am not even sure what to expect in terms of pricing per night, but most I have looked at are a lot more expensive. Also, would it be better to wait closer to the date, or should I get it booked now? I really don't know what the better approach would be. Thanks Prince Vegeta
