  1. Stayed on a $46 priceline bid saturday after thanksgiving. Very quiet in hotel and around inner harbor. Hotel is small but clean and friendly. Self parking was $18 and valet $23 a night, but evidently Saturday nights are free, as they returned my cash when i exited the garage. One block walk to the inner harbor, a little lonely and dark but had no incidents of any kind. The swimming pool is truly small, but at ninety degrees was quite relaxing and there's a sauna in each gender's bathroom to dry off in. The exercise room was brightly lit and filled with up to date equipment. Only downside is lack of a place to eat breakfast besides McDonald's and the upscale Oriole Grill on the top floor of the hotel. Would definitely be happy to stay here again.
  2. Yes $46 was first bid for this zone and was accepted. I was surprised but happy. The Sheraton is listed as a 3 star on Priceline and also in my AAA book. I'm pretty easy to please at this room rate, so all should be fine.
  3. My bid for $46 for Sheraton Inner harbor Hotel was accepted for SAturday night, November 27. Looks like a nice location.
  4. Had my bid for $46 accepted for Marriott Hunt Valley for Monday night November 22nd. Have stayed there before. It's a great hotel with lovely personnel and great facilities near lots of restaurants and a supermarket. Couldn't be happier.
  5. Got the Wyndham Inn Harbor hotel for a priceline bid for $53 for 2 nights. After reading horrible reviews of this hotel on tripadvisor, was a little nervous. Ended up being pleasantly surprised. Checkin took less than 5 minutes and we were cheerfully given 2 double beds in nonsmoking. Never waited more than 30 seconds for an elevator. The room was in fine condition for a 3 star inner city that has 700 rooms and lots of turnover. The beds were comfortable and housekeeping was reasonably thorough. We were an easy 10 minute walk to the inner harbor. I had read about panhandlers, but only encountered one during the whole weekend. Tourism is obviously a big deal, and there was always a strong police presence, which probably cut down on the panhandling aspect. If you stay out late at night, just grab a cab back to the hotel. Daytime is absolutely no problem. It's also walking distance to the Lexington Market, filled with working people and lots of good and offbeat (one counter specializes in rabbit parts) food choices. The three of us had a huge breakfast for $7 total. The big negative is the parking fee - $27 a night, with in and out privileges. There are other lots nearby cheaper, but no in and out privileges. The other negative is the constant presence of sirens in the city - not a good way to make the tourists feel secure, at times it reminded me of my reading about postwar Berlin. Anyway for a Priceline hotel, we were happy as clams.
  6. can't speak about the hotels, but definitely stay in DuPont Circle. It's trendy, elegant, tons of restaurants and quite safe. It's also on the Metro line, which will get you anywhere in a flash. Georgetown is also pretty neat, but extremely touristy and full of college kids. You could visit there for a day. Or even get a fairly cheap cab ride from DuPont Circle. The big downside of GEorgetown is that it is NOT on the metro line and therefore hard to sightsee from. Good Luck!!
  7. Bid $53 for Wyndham Inner Harbor and was accepted on first try. This is for 10/8-10/10.
  8. Stayed at this 4 star hotel on a $80 bid through priceline 8/26-8/31. Nice roomy rooms with 2 overstuffed chairs, and a desk with its own chair. Fabulous bed, which they rightfully feature in their advertisements. Also made use of a rollaway (no charge) which was just as comfy. The hotel has a great location: connected by a skywalk to a huge mall, across the street from WAterPark (a gorgeous, safe 2 mile long oasis, complete with reflecting pool). WAlking distance to tons of restaurants. Also, 30 to 40 minute drive to many beaches and to Newport. Food was of course overpriced, so a 2 block walk brought us to Mark's Deli, great food, great prices, nice people running it. For tennis buffs, you're a 10 minute drive to Roger Williams Park, a HUGE park in WArwick, and has great clay courts for only $6 a person for an hour and a half. DEfinitely a fun location.
  9. Stayed here one night on a $45 reservation at hotwire. Nice budget version of REsidence Inn. Clean, safe, quiet, great bed. Includes a fridge, microwave, some plates and utensils, and coffeemaker. Smallish space, but divided up with a wall between the beds and the "sitting area". A 2 minute ride to Owings Mills Mall, about 6 chain restaurants, the metro stop to Inner Harbor, and a large multiplex movie theater. The breakfast was free and terrific. Even included eggs, sausage and yogurt for lo-carb people. The pool had very limited hours (4 to 9 on weekdays) and was a bit chilly. Free parking. A good deal if you get it at a discount.
  10. this is downtown providence. WE were lucky to get a 5 day bid, and we're very happy about it. Looks like a great central location with lots of perks. Should be fun.
  11. Bid $74 a night (they're running a special on their website for $169). Priceline counteroffered with $22 more. I added Warwick (which is a free rebid for a 4*) and upped bid to $80. Got it. Looking forward to it, it looks quite nice in pictures.
  12. This is a new hotel and part of the marriott chain. We stayed 4 nights on a priceline bid of $40. They gave our family a king size bed and a sleeper sofa, which worked just great. First night in room discovered a trail of ants. The management was horrified and gave us a new room immediately and then gave us free breakfast (which goes for $9.00 for a great buffet) for our stay. Wonderful pool and hot tub, which seems underused. However, has only evening hours during the week. Free shuttle to the new air and space museum at Dulles (free admission but $12 for parking). Loved it. Walking or easy driving distance to a huge number of restaurants and shops. Would recommend it.
  13. Stayed here june of 2004 for one night for a priceline bid of $37. Gorgeous hotel with atrium, charming staff, great heated pool, and easy 10 minute drive to lovely town of Princeton (which was full of great restaurants and stores). Only downside is that it is located in a very upscale office park (the Carnegie Center) and walking distance to nothing. But for $37, who cares?
  14. Stayed here on a $58 bid from Priceline for 2 nights during first weekend in may 2004. Gorgeous hotel with an atrium, wonderful rooms, and unbelievable location crawling distance to a Metro station. The town of Bethesday (right outside of DC) is brimming with restaurants and shops. Does have a parking fee for the garage, but everything else perfect.
  15. During father's day 2004, got Prince Grand hyatt Regency for $37 on first bid.
  16. This is a 2 star priceline hotel i got in 2003 for $32. There are good and bad points. The good points: clean, felt safe as a single woman, quiet rooms, HUGE free buffet breakfast, safe area about 10 miles north of Baltimore. The bad points: weird location surrounded by a bank, storage shed area, 6 lane highway, and I-95, dim lighting in rooms For a $32 stay it was a steal, but definitely not worth the $100 or so they charge on their website
  17. this is a slightly older property, but quite clean and spacious. Located in a self-contained upscale shopping area. Has a jogging trail and woods right outside and walking distance is a tennis facility where you can rent court time as a guest of the hotel (without having to join or buy a membership). A five minute car ride away is a funky neighborhood with thrift shops, coffe shops, ethnic restaurants and the popular Cafe Hon. Got it from Priceline for $46 and really enjoyed it. Free parking. About 8 miles north of Baltimore.
  18. This is a gorgeous property in the Hunt Valley area about 10 miles north of Baltimore. WAlking distance to a high speed rail line into the city. Looks like a resort and has beautifully appointed rooms. Great indoor heated pool with well-equipped fitness room and fabulous jacuzzi. Even has a low-price snack bar area where you can buy cereal with plastic dishes and small containers of milk and juice. Got it twice with priceline for $46. Walking distance to a Carrabba's restaurant.
  19. Stayed here on priceline and hotwire bids ranging from $37 to $40. Very clean and safe hotel in a boring location. Nice size rooms. Pool is almost unusable, since it's in the shade and outdoors. Around corner from a great diner (Bel-Loc), where you get a lot of food for a little money. Definitely would recommend it for priceline and hotwire prices.
  20. stayed here several times on priceline bids for $46. Fabulous location next to a mall and further on (by foot) a lovely little college town with bookstores and coffe shops. Directly across street from a supermarket. Wonderful beds and clean and safe lobby area, usually filled with various conventions and meetings. Charming staff. Only downside are rather thin walls, which can be a problem if there's a baby next door!! But in general for priceline rates, it's a great deal. Also, free parking.
  21. sorry, i was operating from memory. Amenities for Amerisuites in Owings Mills include icons for: suite, pool, fitness, breakfast and laundry.
  22. amenities for Amerisuites in owings mills is the Suites sign, coffee cup, pool. As far as i can tell it's the only suites in pikesville-owings mills for hotwire.
  23. all the zones you listed are exactly correct.
  24. yes it is a 2 1/2* and doesn't seem to show up on any priceline lists anywhere. Was trying for Amerisuites, but am happy with this.
  25. Got an Amerisuites in Owings Mills for 8/23 for $45. Price on hotwire kept fluctuating between $48 and $58 and finally dipped to $45. Includes breakfast.
