  1. Inventory must be really tight this weekend, have been trying for a week or two to get the northern baltimore suburbs. Even bid up to $92 for 2 1/2 stars and was rejected. Made $94 the top bid since Hotwire was offering inner harbor 3* (guessing the Holiday Inn Iner Harbor or Courtyard) for that amount. After being rejected in Towson, Cross Keys, Whitemarsh, and Hunt Valley, started bidding Inner Harbor. Accepted at 4* $82 first try. Since it's a same-day bid, offered my best bid and was accepted. Certainly beats Expedia's best offer of a Red Roof Inn in Timonium for $94!! With taxes and Service fees total comes to $193.87
  2. yes is still 2.5 star. Good, basic middle-level property in an unexciting but safe location.
  3. Accepted on first bid for one night: Holiday Inn, Cromwell Bridge Road, 10/21, $46.
  4. Stayed here for 3 nights and just loved it. Got it on a $49 bid after bombing out in several other areas. Huge studio room (nondescript decor, but that's not an issue with me). Included huge, free buffet breakfast of usual pastries that also included several fruit juices, milk, yogurt, eggs, bacon, cereals and variuos english muffins and toast. For our family of three it definitely offset the $20 a night valet parking fee. Great location 2 blocks from McPherson Square Metro Station. You can go anywhere, and we bought a $6.00 all day pass, which is good from 9:30 in the morning until midnight same day. Just kept getting on and off. We were on the third floor and barely noticed the street noise from Vermont AVenue, probably due to exhaustion from sightseeing. Neighborhood is mostly businesses, but area well populated with multiple hotels in 3 block area (wyndham, hilton, st. regis, holiday inn, marriott and probably more i didn't notice). There's a CVS in the building itself open 24 hours. Room includes a full kitchen, including utensils and huge refrigerator. Serviceable exercise room with treadmills, steppers, bikes and weights. NO pool. Staff is the warmest and friendliest i've ever encountered. If you can get past the drab decor, it's a great deal. You can also bring your pet for an extra fee.
  5. Won this in a radio contest and not through priceline. But noticed it was won in some bids last year, so thought i'd post a review. The positives were really positive: crawling distance to the beach, hardly anyone there so was really private, gorgeous double sized pool that was really warm, warm and friendly staff, exquisite lobby, across street from La Isla Mall (upsscale mall, but several reasonable eating alternatives), bus that comes every 5 minutes runs right out front, cute little iguanas that populate the forest area around hotel The negatives: I stayed in the Towers section (they're closing Resort area next week for renovations): rooms slowly going downhill, very noisy hallways since they're marble, small double beds that are a tight fit for families, bathroom a bit undesirable However at priceline rates and for free! it's PERFECT!!
  6. Definitely needed to stay in towson so that limited my bidding. Starting at $62 for a 3 star and was rejected, and since i only had one free bid (Whitemarsh) left that i was willing to gamble on, upped it to $74 and was accepted. A little pricey, but tempered by being able to cook in full kitchen and free parking. Also, all rooms are at least one bedroom suites.
  7. woops, realize i should have listed this under Washington DC instead of Maryland. Hope somebody can move it for me. sorry.
  8. Had been bidding a few times on vienna/ northern virginia/dupont circle areas and wanted to go no higher than $55. Tried 4 stars all the way down to 2 stars. Kept getting rejected, except for a 2 star in Arlington which wanted $67 in a counteroffer.. Decided to add White House/Downtown and offered $49. Was accepted on first try. I figure free breakfast and afternoon receptions for a family of three will offset cost of parking. Dates are: 8/31 to 9/3
  9. Stayed here for one night on a $53 bid. It's gorgeous, almost like a private college campus. The rooms have high airy roofs with windows at the top that gives a skylight effect. The beds are wonderful, as is the view from the window - all trees and greenery. There are several nature trails on the property and we took the 3 mile hike next to the river - got to see a crane taking its morning bath. It's a 5 minute car ride into the city of Princeton, which is chock full of stores and restaurants. There is an outdoor pool and a decent exercise room also. The only downside is that the breakfast buffet is quite pricey at $12 per person, but it is a huge buffet with eggs and bacon, etc. You can even have a custom made omelet included. Would definitely love to stay here again.
  10. Stayed one night at this hotel. Usual Marriott graciousness and efficiency. Almost all is positive. They have a free shuttle which runs with great frequency. The checkin process is fast and we easily got 2 doubles in nonsmoking. The property is clean and airy and quiet. The exercise room is phenomenal, probably just one level below a professional health club. Two restaurants on premises. The Champs Sports bar has good food and is extremely reasonable. Free parking. Only downside is a frigidly cold indoor pool, which I found unusable even for power walking. But a great priceline deal at $53.
  11. just discovered on Expedia that chauncey conference center includes free buffet breakfast! now i'm really happy.
  12. Just arbitrarily bid $44 for a 3 star in princeton and got it on first try. One night: 6/21
  13. Got accepted on first bid of $53 for one night at Marriott BWI. Usually love all the Marriott's I get, so am looking forward to this. Includes a free shuttle to and from airport.
  14. WAnted Towson, but appears to be completely sold out. So then bid $46 for Hunt Valley and was rejected. Added Carlyle-Cross Keys and upped bid to $53 and was accepted by Marriott Hunt VAlley. Very spacious pleasant property.
  15. Bid $53 and was rejected. Added Whitemarsh, and bid $60 and was rejected. Added Mount Vernon, Bid $74 and was accepted. One night on 5/12. A friend who works at Marriott says this price is just $10 above the discount they offer Marriott employees. Love this property, huge apartment-like rooms and full kitchen with fridge and microwave and stove.
  16. Bid several priceline zones for a 3 star starting at $46 and going up by a dollar. Finally hit at $53 for the marriott hunt valley for one night. Am satisfied with results.
  17. This is a phenomenal property. Got this for a $77 bid for a one night stay. We were given a one bedroom suite with a queen size bed and with a pullout sofa in the living room. This suite was bigger than the first apartment i rented out of college. It included a full kitchen (included silverware, pots, pans, dishes, etc.), closet-size washer and dryer, 2 tv's, a nice dinette set and a small balcony. The bathroom is large. The property is across the street from Towson University, which is nice for those of us who love walking away from traffic. In the other direction about 2 or 3 blocks is the business area of Towson, which has endless restaurants, shops, movie theaters and bookstores. Starbucks is crawling distance from the front door. The only possible downside is that for fitness room and pool you have to get free passes to the univerisity fitness facility. Free covered parking underneath the hotel. Staff (especially housekeeping) is unbelievably friendly and accommodating. Hope i get this one again!!
  18. sorry, i always forget the important details. I'm staying one night, friday 3/11.
  19. this was a last minute bid and i had to be in towson and preferred to be in a 3 star. Bid $60 and was counteroffered $77 and took it. Have never stayed at this hotel.
  20. this was not my first bid. I had bid about 4 times for a 3 star in towson/crosskeys/huntvalley/whitemarsh area: doggedly going $46-49. I figured eventually somebody would take me, and they did.
  21. Got this for my target price of under $50. Nice little property with covered free parking, civilized atmosphere, shopping and tennis courts (indoor/outdoor) nearby. Am happy with result.
  22. Recently won an overnight stay here on a radio contest!! Beautiful atrium type hotel directly across the parking lot from the Four Points Sheraton. Strictly an airport hotel, not walking distance to anything. These are truly suites. There are 2 separate rooms - the bedroom had a king size bed that was incredibly comfortable, middle area with refrigerator/microwave and an elegant bathroom and a very large sittingroom/office with sofa, coffee table, desk and desk chair. has a nice pool, jacuzzi, and fitness room area. Also one or two choices of very pleasant restaurants. Location is easy driving distance to center city via schuylkill espressway, and also close to walt whitman bridge into new jersey. Didn't pay for it, but had a great time.
  23. Since I was starting so far ahead I was lowballing everything. Went through all my 3 and 2 1/2 star bids. When I bid $26 for a 2 star in Whitemarsh (which as far as i can tell is the only 2 star in Baltimore area so far) they counteroffered with $33. So i kept adding zones I could live with and kept upping the bids by $1. Finally at $30 was accepted. It's the Marriott economy hotel, and is quite safe and comfortable. And it includes a free breakfast buffet!! Also is a 5 minute drive from the White Marsh Mall. Am happy with results.
  24. First bid of $46 accepted for Radisson Cross Keys hotel. Have stayed there before, very genteel with jogging paths and a small upscale shopping center attached. Happy with result. Just
