Also, may I add,  had I booked directly at full rate, Hyatt was asking $161 per night. Average nightly rate for this property is $200.

Just booked a Hotwire deal and got Hyatt Regency-Cambridge for two nights, July 5-7th

I just took a currently listed Hotwire deal and got The Diplomat for the above dates.  Please note there is an additional $26 per night Resort fee charged at check-inn and not included in the price. 

The deal is showing as a 4 Star listed as 'New to Hotwire Hollywood Beach Area' $158 per night. 46% off average $294.

Listed amenities.  Free internet, Fitness Center,Pools, Resort, Resturant, smoke free, Spa service. 

Howtire Guest rating 8.5 out of 10 of 51 reviews. 

Full Amenities, although I can only see them once the hotel has been revealed.

Occasionally I use HOTWIRE Express deals when I travel. Doing my research and using this site,  I've gotten pretty good at predicting which hotels I might get. 

However, I've got a few questions.  

When i search 'Hotwire Express Deals' within a select city, the search results will come back.  

While scrolling down the listings, most show the price followed by the percent off the average nightly rate. However, usually there are a few offerings that show only the price. (The crossed out average nightly rate and the percent off is missing)

 The last two times I've booked these deals, after the hotel is revealed, I've gone to the hotel's website to compare  my HOTWIRE Deal per night rate, with what the property is asking if I had booked directly with them.  I've then found my 'Express Deal' rate per night was actually the same price the hotels were asking themselves.  

In in the end, I saved no money and didn't get any deal at all. 

What are these? Are they just mixed in with the offerings that truly are discounted? If I see an EXPRESS Deal that's missing the crossed out average rate per night and the percent off, can I assume this isn't a deal at all, and it's just a standard rate hotel thrown in the mix to make you book and think you're saving money?

Also, just recently, I've noticed when looking at these deals, there will be a banner at the bottom of the page saying "Last Person to take this deal got ---------" (on two of these banners I've seen, I know for a fact which hotel the deal applies to. And it's the same one the banner is saying the last guests booked who took the deal). Why would they identify the property for you?

I just took a listed HOTWIRE and got InterContinental at Miami Airport-West Doral on Friday May 13th-14. $97 per night, $119 after taxes.

I ended up taking the 4-Star Boca Raton Marriott on this night for $82. (Reported in separate thread)

Just needed a hotel for one night after a late evening flight arrival.  I think I got a better deal in Boca Raton than I would have taking this deal.  70% approval rating for this deal vs. 95% for the Boca Marriot. A short 20 minute drive north of FLL airport.

Just took a Hotwire Express deal for a 4-Star in Boca Raton. One night, Saturday April 30th-May 1st for $82 ($101 after taxes) showing discount of 51%. Regular rate shown $167

Further question involving Hot Deals. 

For example, let's says there's a 3.5 star listing for $74 per night in a select area   And it shows 58% off of the regular rate of $176.  

Is the full rate of $176 the true rate of the hidden hotel? If I looked at the regular rate hotel list, can I identify the probable hotel by searching for the one in the said area with same star rating and same listed amenities, and showing as $176?

Or, is the full rate that's crossed out and shows the percent discount unreliable for figuring out the hidden deal? Is the $176 rate shown truly the real rate? Or is it just a gimmick to pull you in?  Perhaps just an average rate instead of the true full rate for a given night?

it seems like it would be too easy to figure out the hotel this way?

I'm looking at a 3.5 star hotel in The FLL Airport/ South area, listing for $74 per night on April 30th. Showing 58% off at regular rate of $176

70% guest rating with the listed amenities.

Looking at the hotel list, I see no hotels in this area that match these amenities. Primarily, there are no 3.5 stars in the listed area that show them pet friendly and condo.

Same listing, two hours later, now going for $113 per night.

Thanks so much for the help. I ended up taking a Hotwire Express deal for $101 per night in Jersey City, and got the Westin. Was willing to sacrafice downtown location for a bargain across the river.

Planning to go to New York City 6/28-7/1 and looking for bidding advice for a modest budget.

Was looking at staying across the river in NJ where I've found 3.5-4 star express deals for $100-120. However, considering the cost to drive or take train into the city each day multiplied by two people, I'm now considering just staying in the city and paying more.

I'm seeing PRICELINE EXPRESS deals and Priceline bids won in Manhattan in the $120-170 range for my dates, for 3-4 star hotels. There is one four star listing in the financial district for $133.

I don't really care where I stay in Manhattan, but would like bidding advice for 3.5-4 stars in the city. Preferably, no more than $150 per night. Would also be willing to stay in Brooklyn/Williamsburg or other locations easily accessible to city on the subway system. Would also consider solid three stars.

Any advice on where to start? I've always taken express deals and have never bid.

Offer disappeared after I took the deal. There was still a remaining 4- Star downtown listing at $155 for this night. Maybe Omni?

Arizona isn't an option as we're booked to fly to SFO, and then taking the train to LA and picking up a rental car there. We also have a week booked in Palm Springs. We did a shorter trip this past December. Flying to SAN and then driving to LA-Palm Springs-SAN. So we have a general idea of the area and the coastal communities in between. Just don't know the best areas for the best deals.

We've been suffering through New England winter. We really just want to relax in the sun for a few days.

My girlfriend and I will be on vacation in Southern California for two weeks in April. We have five days between April 10-15 that we have yet to book a hotel for. We'd like to stay in a 4-Star or above. Be close to either LA area or San Diego (or somewhere in between) but preferably not in the downtown itself or In a commercial/industrial area or airport hotel. Somewhere more relaxed and vacation like.

We'd prefer to avoid hidden resort fees and parking fees, but accept these might be the norm for a lot of hotels in these areas? Total budget would be up to $250 per night (including resort and parking charges) Would prefer something in the $170-200 range.

We have no idea where to go to find the best value for our money? We're also unsure if we're better off bidding or taking Express Deals vs. paying standard rate for a 3.5 Star?

Does anybody have any suggestions on where we could go, or where we'd get more for our money? Either LAX or SAN areas.

I won this hotel a week before posting. After I took the deal, the offer disappeared from the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals for my dates and I was unable to go back and find the amenities to list on this thread. For the listed amenities, I posted the ones listed for the Serrano Hotel on Priceline.

Sounds like The Dana on Mission Bay. Same offer I won back in December. It's across street from Hyatt . There's is an unspecified $14 per day resort fee, as well as $30 per day to park here. Most Priceline and Hotwire wins get put in the smaller motel style rooms out back with no view. Fortunately we talked our way into a free upgrade to the Bayview complet with the nicer rooms.

Hotel was good if you could get in the newer addition with the luxury rooms. We did. Most Hotwire guests get put in the smaller motel like rooms without view.

Hotel also comes with a mandatory $14 per day resort fee, and $30 per day for parking that is not made clear before making the booking for express deals on Hotwire.
