  1. Melanie
  2. The perils of bidding....I got Priceline screwed... So I bid $115 (to start) for a 4 star Gaslamp, and it rejected the bid, but offered me a 4 star for $131. I deicded that this was better than the Express Deal of $125 (minus 5% plus the $15 resort fee). Instead, I get the Westgate (which was the hotel I figured I would get with the Express Deal) and now I am stuck with the resort fee again. Nice hotel, but its hard to feel happy knowing that I just spent $30 more than I should have. I didn't plan to spend close to $150 a night. I really love Priceline so much, but this makes me feel really ripped off.
  3. I would rather pay more than have to relocate hotels (which is what I assume you mean by splitting). What do you think is like the "formula" if there is one on the express deals vs. bidding? Are express deals the best representation of how low a hotel is willing to go (i.e. is bidding on its way out?). I have been bidding on San Diego hotels for about 7 years and always scored great deals, but I feel like more recently bidding has been harder. HOTWIRE had a decent deal on a 4-star at $129, but that hotel has a resort fee of about $20/nite. Looks like PRICELINE also added a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal for the same 4 star in gaslamp that HOTWIRE had. Its $125 on Priceline (with the additional $15/day resort fee). Not a bad deal with the 5% off Express Deal coupon, but dang that resort fee!
  4. sorry! Typo...06/27-06/29, seems that adding the Saturday night raises the prices considerably. thanks!
  5. Need a room in San Diego willing to bid up to $115 for a minmum 3.5 star dates are 06/27-06/29/14 Areas: Gaslamp Gaslamp Quarter South - Convention Center Downtown - Little Italy Downtown - Marina Thanks for advice!
  6. After exhaustive bidding I did go with the Express Deal! I was able to use a 5% off coupon code so it was actually less than $123 per night, and since it included free wifi I figured that it was a good deal over bidding for slightly less but possibly getting stuck paying for internet. Thanks for all the help! Marriott Chateau Champlain 4 stars 5/24-5/31 $123/night
  7. Wow. That's an amazing detailed plan. Thanks! I will consider the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal but I would like to avoid the Hotel 10 which is a 4 star I believe downtown. It has poor reviews on Price.line from people who don't believe it's 4 star quality. I will contemplate raising my budget. I'm hoping that the fact I want two rooms will help me...I will let you know my results later. Thanks so much!
  8. Awesome! Here are my Price.line areas: 1st choice: Downtown - City Center 2nd: Convention Center - Old Montreal - Latin Quarter 3rd: Midtown
  9. Ok! My mom's passport has arrived :) so I am ready to proceed with bidding! Any other advice to offer? Here are my details: I would like to stay at about a $150 a night after taxes and fees which looks to be a bid of about $125 per night. (If I can get a 5 star or 4.5 star I would be willing to increase my bid about $15-$20 per night). My stay is May 24-May 31, two rooms. I would like to be either Downtown or Old Montreal/Convention Center/Latin Quarter . I would like the best star rating possible and I would not go lower than 3.5 stars. Is there hope for me?
  10. Thanks! If it is the Sofitel the Hot.wire rate is about $30 less per night than the lowest rate on the Sofitel website for that week. I like the excitement of bidding more so I think I am going to wait and try Price.line. I will be sure to post updates once I start bidding. Thanks a bunch!
