  1. Thanks for your help. I want to avoid that location, so I will keep on looking and see if something else comes up.
  2. FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Tennis Nearby, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower
  3. pet friendly, indoor pool, smoke free, fitness center, pools, restaurant, business center, self service laundry, internet access Can't find a listed one with both pet friendly and smoke free or anything currently listing indoor pool. Any ideas? Yes, I used your search link ;)
  4. It looks like I am the first one on this board to get this hotel. Amenities: Airport Shuttle Smoke Free Rooms Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) Used my Entertainment membership, so I will get a $20 rebate, making it $74 plus tax. Great deal for a Saturday night in peak season when the Motel 6 is even charging $108.
  5. Well I suppose my max bid would be $89, less taxes and fees, since that is the price of the same hotel class and area on HW. I really want to get the best deal as possible, though.
  6. Only the Niagara Falls zone 1, which is currently the only one with 4 star anyway.
  7. I'm not getting a feel of what a good bid would be considering that the trip is a Tues and Wed night slightly after the peak season. I'm set on a 4* right at the falls. The lowest prices I see for this is $97 at the Doubletree resort or $89 on HOTWIRE. Where do we think I should be for PRICELINE? I have $5 a night bonus cash too.
  8. I got this email too, and will try the above when I decide to use it. In your experience does it seem like they penalize your bids on the opaque product. In other words, is the accepted bid more than it would have been just to have them deduct the $5 a night at the end? I guess there is no way to know for sure, but these kinds of things always make me suspicious.
  9. I have stayed in that hotel and I LOVED it. They are so friendly and welcoming there. I'm jealous! If you like Asian fusion, eat at the Ponzu restaurant there. The pineapple fried rice makes me weak in the knees!
  10. I wanted the 4* Hyatt Lodge McDonald's that everyone else seems to be getting in the $40-$50 range on here, but they must not have had availability or maybe not for 2 rooms. First I bid the 4* at $41, $46, $48, $51 with no luck. Added 3 star and bid $41. They offered to give it to me for $12 more. (NO) Bid $44 and was accepted. I hate Holiday Inns, but its still a good deal.
  11. This was not quite what I was asking. Pretty much all of the hotels in Paso Robles are already listed on Priceline regular. I realize that the set of hotels they use can at times not necessarily correspond. But when they are talking about the same exact hotel, will they ever rate it differently between opaque and regular? In other words, if there are two particular hotels that I do NOT want, and they are both rated 2* on the regular service, can I be fairly safe bidding only 2.5* on opaque? Thanks.
  12. Do the star ratings for opaque and regular Priceline always correspond? In other words, if the only hotel in Paso that they have rated as 2.5 star is the Courtyard Marriott, can I assume that it is probably this one?
  13. I'm looking for something in Paso Robles from 3/21-3/23 or 24. There is a 2 star on Hotwire for $49 showing breakfast, pool and laundry. Priceline also shows 2 1/2, 2, and 1 star. Does that mean that they definitely have availability in all 3 categories? I would probably only be interested in the 2.5 star. Any idea on what hotels these might be, and what is a good price? I didn't see anything on here at all.
  14. First bid $15 for Standard and got rejected Added Midsize for $16, accepted
  15. Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Laundry, Hi-Speed Booked this because our friends live in this area and I had a $10 HW coupon, knowing that I was in uncharted waters because people haven't posted for this area. There are several hotels in this area such as Courtyard Marriott, Residence Inn, Hampton Inn, and a pretty nice Holiday Inn. I figured that I would probably be getting one of these 4. Did NOT expect La Quinta. Since when is La Quinta a 3 star hotel?? It is specifically listed as an example of a 2* (not even 2.5) on Hotwire's site. So I guess that I am stuck, but not too happy. We will see what this place is like. Has anyone ever sucessfully complained about a star level and gotten any kind of redress?
  16. Housekeeping is not always bad. I'd like to post a nice story to counteract all of the negative ones. Last summer I went on vacation in North Carolina with my mom, without my husband. We stayed at the Homewood Suites in Cary, NC for several nights through a $38 Priceline deal (with the help of this board, of course). While I was there, I lost my wedding set, both the $1500 diamond engagement ring and $350 band. I was pretty sure it was lost in the room, so we turned it upside down (or so we thought) before leaving. We were unable to locate them, so I assumed that they were gone forever and I was going to have to face the wrath of my husband. I left my cell # at the front desk just in case. Well the maid found them when she was turning the room over. Somehow they slipped into the crack of the bed and got caught in the elastic pouch at the bottom of the mattress pad. No one would ever have known, but she turned them into her manager and they called me! They had the rings enroute by FedEx before my plane even took off and I had to face my husband. How's that for great service, especially for a customer who only paid $38?
  17. Tried again today. First bid, $90 rejected. They offered that if I would up my bid $22, to $112, I could have it then and there. Of COURSE not. . . Added N. Phoenix and increased bid to $95. Bid accepted. Then they offered to extend my stay for the same price (they must really want to sell these rooms). Sounds like a good deal, so I added Saturday night as well for $95--we were going to stay somewhere cheaper in the burbs that night, but its worth it to save the hassle. I'm a happy camper. OF COURSE, I used the link at Savingsbarn.com :)
  18. How high for a 3* downtown Phoenix? I bid $75 and added north Phoenix at $85 and got rejected. I would not prefer one of the N. Phoenix resorts (someone got one recently at $95) so I don't think I want to do that again. What is a reasonable price for this time of year? 2.5* at $89 and 3* at $133 are available on Hotwire. Thanks.
  19. Looking for a hotel in Phoenix city for 3 nights at the end of Feb. The options I am considering don't seem to match up with the listings. 2.5* Downtown $89, Boutique, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Hi-speed 3* Central $144, Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Business, Laundry, Hi-speed 2.5* Central $155, Suite, Laundry, Hi-speed 3.5* Central $166, Boutique, Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Hi-speed (I'm thinking that this could be Clarendon? but its a little steep for us) Thanks for the help!
  20. I'm looking to get a hotel in the Napa area Dec. 29-Jan 1. The choices in Santa Rosa - Rohnert Park - Petaluma aren't matching up to existing postings?? 4-star $79 Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed internet, Golf 3.5 star $59 Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed internet 3 star, $79 Resort, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, TEnnis, Spa What do we think?
  21. Bid $50 for a 2 star, bid rejected Can't re-bid because the only other choice is 1 star! (yuck) Booked a $67 room on Hotwire instead. Suite , Laundry Facilities Hotel:$67.00 Taxes recovery charges and fees:$11.99 Total:$78.99
  22. Your Offer Price: $38.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $152.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $29.27 Total Charges: $181.27 Was accepted on the first try. Guess I should have bid less!
  23. Decided to re-try my trip (see earlier failure in below post). Hotwire was currently offering compacts for these dates at 21.95 and midsize at 23.95, so I based my bids off trying to save 15-20% more than Hotwire. First bid: Midsize at $18 (rejected) Second bid (free re-bid from Priceline): Midsize at $20 (rejected) Third bid: Compact at $19 (accepted) Details: Your Offer Price: $19.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 8 days (7 days and 4 1/2 hours) Subtotal: $152.00 Taxes and Fees: $54.24 Total Charges: $206.24 Not an exceptional deal compared to other prices I have received on Priceline, but pretty good considering I saved about $100 over the lowest price on Sidestep.
  24. Bid $15,$16,$17 standard through compact, all rejected. These prices appear to be in line with what others have received. Any suggestions on how high I will need to go to receive an acceptance?
  25. Airport Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet, Business Center $12.45 taxes and fees added for a total of $63.45 This was a pretty good deal, since I wanted this exact hotel and the lowest online booking price through Doubletree's website for this night was $199. Thanks to your excellent board, I was able to identify the hotel I wanted on Hotwire. I did stay at the property first through Priceline (I believe it was on Thursday 12/29/05) for only $40. However, this time the potential to save $11 wasn't worth the risk of getting another property on Priceline since I liked this one so much. Thanks for an outstanding public service!
