  1. I am a pretty seasoned and always satisfied priceline/hotwire customer - I probably book 3-4 hotel rooms per year via those services and have always been pleased, sometimes even thrilled, with my purchases. I have also posted a few questions and reported my wins on the Better Bidding web site - it has helped me several times to narrow down the hotel I may end up bidding on. However, I am wondering what the benefit is to using the HOTWIRE or PRICELINE link from the better bidding site. In comparing the prices in two separate browser windows, I don't see a difference. Is there a better bidding promo code I should be using? The hotwire page does say "We've got some amazing deals for BetterBidding shhoppers!" but I'm not seeing the difference. Can someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong or missing? Thank you!
  2. It was the Warwick, we booked it and stayed there in early September - it was awesome!
  3. I've changed my search from Long Island City to Manhattan and found a 4.5* hotel in Midtown-Central with the following amenities for $216/night: Accessible: path of travel, parking, bathroom, hearing impaired, visually impaired, roll-in shower Business Center Internet Fitness Center Self Service Laundry Roll-in Shower Restaurant(s) There is not a resort fee. Any thoughts on what it could be? I'm traveling to Flushing Meadow for the U.S. Open, so having some idea of which hotel it might be would be helpful... Thanks for your help. Please let me know if you want me to start a new thread with a new title. Malou
  4. Thank you - great advice, but we will be in town for the U.S. Open so I think (hope!) that Long Island City is one of the closest options? But maybe Manhattan is worth another look... Though if the LIC hotel is Boro, we'd be staying at a new property - at least that's what I'm guessing based on the fact that it's not open yet...
  5. It doesn't look like Boro is open yet - I just checked their web site. I love the pictures though - very Scandinavian.
  6. Thanks, Yellowdog. I'm wondering why you guessed Boro? I don't use this board that much - is there another hotel list I should have looked at? Thanks again...
  7. And when I click on "book now" to try to see moe amenities, it asked for info/credit card which I'm not ready to give so I don't have much more info... When I checked again a few minutes ago, the price is now at $163/night. Thanks for any help you have on this...
  8. At first it had the 3 amenities, but when I went back again, amenities were blank... ?
  9. I'm looking at a 4.5* hotel in Hotwire "Long Island City" area for $166 on 8/31-9/2. In looking at the betterbidding hotel list, I don't see a 4.5* hotel in that area. Amenity list is short and looks like: fitness, business center and wifi. Any ideas? Thanks, Malou
  10. After a frustrating bidding/rebidding session on priceline and watching the rate on hotwire go up over the last few days, I sucked it up and booked a 4* in Coral Gables-Coconut Grove on Hotwire for $399/night. Amenities were: Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique hotel Smoke-free rooms Fitness centerPool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Internet access Tennis nearby Spa services Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower Thanks, Malou
  11. I've been asked by the moderator to post an update to this post from April 2014, before I can get help on a new post. As I stated in the post from 2014, I will post if we end up bidding... and winning... We did NOT end up getting an accepted bid. Hope that closes the thread. Thanks.
  12. I'm bouncing back and forth between priceline and hotwire, trying to find a good deal on a 4* or better in the Miami area, preferably Coconut Grove/Coral Gables. Hotwire has hotel for $356/night with these amenities. It says it is "still gathering reviews", so I am wondering if it is a new hotel to Hotwire? Here are the amenities: Free parking Suite Pool(s) Business Center Free internet Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Internet access Tennis nearby Spa services Accessible for hearing impaired, visually impaired, Accessible path of travel, parking, bathroom In-room accessibility Roll-in shower I think that's it... Any thoughts on what hotel this could be? Thanks!
  13. I've (so far) been unsuccessful in booking booking a 4* hotel on priceline for the Miami area in late March. I'm seeing a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal for a 4* in Coconut Grove for $348/night and one of the amenities is Pets Allowed. Does this help anyone identify the hotel for me? Amenities are: Free Internet Pets Allowed Restaurant Fitness Center Business Center Indoor or Outdoor Pool Thanks for your help...
  14. On 5/10-5/11, there are two PRICELINE EXPRESS deals in Orlando for 5 star hotels: $187 in Lake Buena Vista and $237 in International Drive South - Sea World. That is what got me thinking that $150 for a name your own price deal *might* be reasonable... I will post if we end up bidding... and winning...
  15. We live 2 hours from Orlando and can pretty much go any weekend on short notice. I was tentatively looking at 5/3-5/4 or 5/10-5/11. Our budget was going to be less than $150. We have been lucky booking hotwire and priceline hotels in Orlando for well under $150 (Omni, Gaylord Palms, Hilton, Hyatt, Renaissance, etc.), but they were 4, or maybe 4.5 star hotels. I didn't recall seeing 5* hotels there before. So, I am naturally curious!
  16. In looking at Priceline's name your own price hotels in Orlando, there appear to be two 5 star hotels (one in Disney Downtown - Lake Buena Vista and one in Int'l Drive - Sea World). I didn't see any 5 star hotels on the betterbidding list of hotels, but I did see Waldorf Astoria and Ritz Carlton on the Priceline web site's "list view". They seem to match up with the areas. Is it safe to assume that these are the same hotels under name your own price? Thanks...
  17. We enjoyed our stay at the Dream South Beach hotel. Please note that the rooms are small (1 bed and no more than 2 people in standard room); we were fortunate to get a free upgrade to accommodate 4 people. Also, valet parking was an additional $30 or so/night.
