  1. Wow...El Cortez .. thats certainly one of my least favorite hotel on the strip. You should certainly claim the difference!! wish u luck
  2. I agreed. I first won 2 nights on PL for this hotel and then later on I add another on via HOTWIRE to get Paris Hilton, its so nice that I didn't want to leave the hotel! I am sure by the time you arrive to the hotel it will be renovated completely, but again, good luck!
  3. has any other 5* hotels in this area have been reported recently? I saw the review on tripadvisor and it doesn't seems just OK.
  4. According to my past stay(3/24-26), the hotel was completely renovated. However, I DID have some housekeeping issues. I like the fact that the bed are new, lcd tv in the room but b/c of the numerious housekeeping issues, i had to write to the company and complain too. I don't think priceline will do too much for this unless all of us start to call and complain about the quality issues of this hotel and this should be moved from the effiel tower region.
  5. Just returned from this hotel. Great location, walking distance from tubes and not far from paddington (less than 5 mins walk). If u have hilton gold or diamond, try to get the room in East wing for lounge access. IF not, try to get west wing (renovated), avoid central tower as many negative reviews on site.
  6. Thanks for the feedback! I always curious how the tax and priceline works in terms of service charge n stuff :) This is definitely new to me. I might need another night of stay in London when I return from paris on 3/26-3/27 (one night). I want to stay at a hilton property again which zone is good? (I have HHonor Gold so I HOPE i can get some perks), is Hilton Metropole any good? better than Hilton Islington?
  7. I just came back from the Omni this past weekend stay (3/2-4) and just for the tip. You should ask for an even number room if u want a room facing the street (but its noiser) and its always a good idea to join select guest before your arrival and ask for the certain bed types that u want. Certain rooms (x23) are their "Premier" rooms and some of them do not have a bathtub (its handicap access room) so just be specific on the types of room that you wanted :) Feel free to PM me if any questions.
  8. One more add-on. I did not get charged for the resort fee! lucky me for getting rates at 25/night!
  9. I hope this can help those who are going to the resort til end of the may. One of my suggestions for priceline customers who wants to get a double bed is to call ahead (they are RUDE over the phone, they even told me WITH THE ROOM PRICE THAT UR PAYING, YOU can't expect that much)... I was like..geez what if i am the employee there and staying for fre? would they give me the same attitude? But the front desk girls are very nice (just make sure to find the one that looks charming, they seriously made the difference. The guy nexted to me during check in appearently won the offer from PL too but the other girl just wouldn't take his request - how SAD. See my Palm Springs La Quinta Review
  10. which hotel did they mentioned for the 125$ usd in newport? is it the Hyatt or the Marriott?
  11. I booked this hotels for 2 separate weekends in Feb (one for my own weekend getaway and another one is a family reunion, 3 rooms). I got a mixed feeling about this hotels since I got to see couple different types of the room. It was a very nice weekend when we were there and I did have an enjoyable time here. The first weekend I stayed at the room 3xxish, then during the following long weekend we got 2 (non-adjacent room) in 216 & 218 ,and one room in 1000s. However, here are my opinions. PROS: 1. The Entrance area is as beautiful as it seems from the website. I can walk there and smell the fragrance of the flowers in the air. At the night it is very pretty too, I can see the hotel spent lots money to make the entrance area beautiful. 2. The check-in was very smooth. I had this trainee girl helped me with the check-in. I called ahead to request for a double beds so it was granted (no need to share beds with my friends/family) and they are very polite except those ones who worked there for YEARS (you can just tell how different their face expressions are, avoid them if you can). 3. The rooms that I had (3xx) was next to the ranker pool, had wireless internet, the pool is one of the largest in the area as I was told by the frontdesk, lots towels in the room and the carpets just got replaced by their new "hilton signature" carpets (so no complains for the stains) 4. The beds are also one of the "hilton signature" beds, very, very comfortable (I prefer to stay at hilton over marriott/hyatt property for this reason their bed just makes me want to sleep for that extra hour). 5. Beautiful lawns, lots fruit trees around the hotels and kids can pick the fruits off the tree (There are Grapefruits, Lemons, and tangerines - they are ALL tasty, you must try their tangerines! so good!) I would suggest for those of you who likes to get those free fruits, bring your own bag and latter to the hotel since some of the fruits are higher up on the tree - even hard for a person like me to reach (I am 6'2"). 6. Parking is all over the resort areas. Hotel itself is big, but still walk-able to all different areas. 7. Separated Deep soaking tub and shower with 2 sinks, walkin closet (in my room). 8. They are working on the whole hotel renovation so the carpets are being changed and the TV are upgraded to 32" Phillips LCD (its there in one of our room - 226). 9. Clean air, beautiful views esp in the day time (you don't get much of the clean air if you live in LA like me). 10. Most pools are heated, the jacuzzi are pleasant esp during a cold night. Even tho they said it opens til 11pm but as long as you can keep your voice down, you can basically stay there as long as you want. Few pools provided towels, most aren't. 11. Nice golf course and tennis court - attend their tennis clinic to play for free! CONS: 1. Doorman was not polite enough, during twice of my stay, no welcome , they were just chatting with each other and ignored the customers coming into the hotel. 2. The problems with the curtain - its made of wood, and they are ancient, so you have to manually tilt each one of them to close them at night. 3. One of the light switch (in room 228) was not working, and we informed the technician to stop by to fix the problem but they did not stop by to fix during our entire stay. 4. The toilet was NOT flushed when we walk into the room!! WOAH what a huge mistake for the housekeeping crew! However, we did not complain since most of the coworkers look tired already. Also the room AC controls varies alot too (we had 4 rooms total, each room has their diff. AC controls) and some works better than anothers, time to buy a new control from home depots people! 5. The door in the bathroom, it is very tired, feels like it will crack down very , very soon and it does take some effort to shut the door and it does create lots noises. 6. SPA La Quinta products that they provided in the room are NOT as good as the crabtree and evelyn products. I don't like the way they smell. For a 5 Star "resort" property, they should provide their guest with better toileries that are EASIER to squeeze. 7. The entrace is hard to find/ easy to miss at night but once you found it, you'll get used to it quickly. 8. Not many stores on site but once you get on Washington, there are walmart, mcD, all the supermarkets nearby so feels like home again. 9. On site restaurant are not that tasty and pretty pricy too! Overall: I think being part of the Waldorf=Astoria Collection puts alot of the pressure to this historic property, they still need lots renovation in order for them to be up par with the other W=A collections hotels. I gave this hotel overall 4* experience since I did have a very relaxing time and most of the staffs there are nice and helpful (esp the front desk girls), that made my weekend enjoyable. But will I stay at this property for the rack rate? No, not until they completely renovated this property!
  12. Got this on the first bid. Kinda curious if the lower bid will be accepted (this almost accepted immediately)! Hope someone who can get lower than this price and share on the board. Your Offer Price: US$75.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: US$75.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$20.94 Total Charges: US$95.94 The tax in UK is very expensive! Almost 25%! thats insane!!! Used SB link :)
  13. just out of the curiousity, did you bid 81 for the first time and got accepted right away? I think this is a nice hotel too so I am trying to score this hotel as well. As I notice hotwire has this hotel for 99/night so 81 bucks is a really, really good price! Enjoy your stay
  14. I don't know if its a glitch or not. Today when i tried to look for the rate (I tried this on both of my own laptop & desktop and my friend's laptop) at the same time, same location, but it turns out that my hotwire rate are 10 dollars higher. It is not the first time it happened. Can someone give me an idea why its happening like this and should i complain to the hotwire???? please help! :)
  15. I arrived Las Vegas Renaissance hotel around 4pm on wednesday. I was aware that the hotel is almost sold out because there're couple conventions going on this week & weekend (thats what I am here for too). I booked this hotel approx 1.5 month ahead with priceline so I had a very good deal. The front desk guy is very friendly and helpful. As seem from the previous review, upon the checkin, they walked around the counter and offered u their signature chocolate and personally welcome you to the hotel. Now that's a nice touch. I called ahead of the time to reserve a room on a high floor w/ view, they did that. The only time that they mentioned about priceline is that he reminded me that my stay will not be honored for their rewards program (I am silver elite level btw). The hotel is fairly new (built in 2004 I believe) so everything is in a nice condition. The beds are nice (pillowtop mattress), towels are fluffy (and there are plenty in the room), and the AC is quiet, Flat screen LCD TV in every room (26" Phillips) and a wireless phone. The best of all, they provided WiFi for their customers inside the hotel (where other hotel would normally charges you 10-15+ dollars). I am not the type of person who cares about carpet stains but while i am looking at it..It does not shows any spots. Deco in the room is contemp. style and the furnitures are in a good condition. The blind does prevent sunshine and the AC is good (not very loud) but I have a feeling that it may not be cold enough for the summer time (Right now is around 65F in vegas - perfect weather in feb). Ample lighting and sheets are crisp and there are plenty pillows (like 6 on my bed, 2 in the closet). Workdesk is large and the chair is ergonomically designed (I would like to take this chair home actually. J/k). The refrigerater is underneath the desk and it seems like they put stuffs in it so I did not touch it. The coffee maker is provided in the room as well (under the sink, so you have to pull it out to use it), also a nice touch since some 4* hotels on the strip don't even offer you with this types of amenitis. The bathroom contains a sink, toilet (strong flush, i like that). a shower (marbled) and a bathtub. It is very clean and in a good condition as well. I also get to use the club lounge on the 15th floor. It provided you with complimentary drinks & snacks & newspapers throughout the day. For those who does not have access to the lounge, there's fitness center on site that provides with free water & fresh fruits as well. I also get to use the swimming pool and jacuzzi at night (around 11pm). It is very quite and clean. However, the only thing that i didn't like about the jacuzzi is that the chemical oder is actually too strong. I am the type of person who doesn't mind using the jacuzzi at 24 hour fitness / Bally's (VERY, VERY dirty). This jacuzzi is clean but the chemical odor keeps me coughing like crazy so I had to take off early. However, there are big sofa-style couch next to the poolside (plenty~ at least 5+) where people can relax. I used the pool at night so I can not tell whether this is good enough for sunbathing (I am not into tanning either). Parking garage is convient too, its right next to the hotel and its not too far from the hotel elevators (unlike big scale hotels where u actually walked 5-10mins to reach ur room), another good thing about this hotel. There are 2 restaurants (one is the steak house Envy) and another deli shop like store located on the 1st floor. I didn't get to try neither so I can not comment on it. Overall, this is a very good hotel located close to the strip (right next to the monorail station too). You can take the shuttle to the Wynns hotel (8am-8pm) or else it will be a good idea to rent a car if u want to get around this town. There is also a McDonalds like 2 tiny blocks down so budget minded travellers can eat (or take their kids to eat). The quality of the room, the staff, and the price is already make me feel that I choose the right hotel. I stayed at the Paris (Calais suite on 34th Floor, facing bellagios), bellagios, MGM, Mandalay Bays, Venetian, Monte Carlos...etc. Most of them did not offer the service which a 4* hotel should have (the quality of the room amendities and the customer service). This hotel sets a standard where a 4* hotel should be. A hotel's star rating should be based on their room and service, not how BIG they are or how much they spent to mimic effiel tower, etc. One another note, I offered tip to the front desk because he's being so nice & helpful and he did not take it. It is another good impression that I have for this hotel (but then, 20$ trick is very useful if ur staying at Harris property hotels, worth a try). Hope this review helps!
  16. Tried this bid for few days already, finally got it. (No counter-offer at ALL, weird). Anyone else have luck scoring lower rate / higher star rating for these dates? Your Offer Price: $150.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $750.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $142.51 Total Charges*: $892.51 Used S/B link for purchase.
  17. As usual, booked via SB link and started my PL bidding. Start @ 65 in USE = rejected Add Cathedral Hill, 70$ = accepted Union Square East - Embarcadero 5 Embarcadero Center San Francisco, California 94111 415-788-1234 Your Offer Price: $70.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.80 Total Charges*: $87.80 I was surprised to get a rate this low (lowest on priceline non-opaque is 179/night). W/the Savings its enough to cover for my airfare (from LA). Such a good deal! (too bad the Omni or Park Hyatt pop up :) ) but its all good. I stayed at this hyatt and hilton FD before too. Liked both but Hyatt is better in terms of location wise (close to bart station). Hope this helps!
  18. Thanks, Called for the bed type and I was noticed that hotel is almost sold out (>10 rooms left). I wonder if the $20 tip works for this trip! Just another question regarding the show ticket. I heard there are some booth in vegas that sells the ticket for the night. Are there any possiblililites for me to get shows by Cirque de Soleli? (O, Ka, Le Reve...etc)? I would really like to watch almost any of their shows for less..please let me know where I can get it if any of you can help!
  19. I think another great option to stay for less than the price of bellagios is staying at the MGM signature. Its around 159/night under the golfer's promotion. It got a great review too on tripadvisor (make sure to book jr. suite for the same price)
  20. I figured. when I called ahead to request for a bed type (geez, just a bed type!) They are saying, with the RATE THAT YOU ARE PAYING, YOU CAN"T CHANGE ANYTHING!! WTF is that customer service. not even motel 6 gives me that attitude!
  21. Ok, I know this is being a while since the previous post (almost 5 months). So I am sure some people already went to this property as I recalled. I will be heading there next weekend since priceline did honor my bid. However, can people share the experience with this property? and have they renovated the room completely or I have to request for the room type? any input helps. Thanks in advance!
  22. Always Love to bid hotels on priceline for my trip needs. I tried many times (8+) with the 4* Strip since last month and bid up to $85/night. No Luck. I thought I would give a try for this hotel since it got some awesome review on tripadvisors. First bid at $65 - no luck added Strip zone, 2nd bid @ $70 - accepted! Now I think people can try to bid somewhere around 66 - 69 dollars since there many rebid zones in the area. Used SavingsBarn link for bidding. Your Offer Price: $70.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $140.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $22.83 Total Charges*: $162.83 Does anyone knows that they have more King room or Doubles upon check-in?
  23. Merry X'Mas & Happy Holiday Everyone! This will be the first time for me to bid hotel in the East Coast/NYC area so I sorta need help to come up with a stategy. How many free rebid zones are there in NYC? I am willing to bid up to 120 for 4* hotel room in NYC, midtown, 4* I saw people post with the 110 or 108 sucessful rate so I don't know where I should start off my bid and where I should end? please help! Either MTE or MTW are great. Which ones are better for the first time visitor (w/o car?) There will be 2 girls travelling together so safety and convinence will be the most important concern. Any trip advices will be helpful!! Thanks in advance!
  24. I tried to bid up to 90 USD for the 3/2 to 3/4. NO Luck, so I decided to go to SF on an earilier day for a different purpose. Here is the result: Started to Bid on USE 60 - rejected, add a zone 65 - rejected, add a zone 70 - rejected, add a zone 75 - rejected, add a zone 80 - accepted! Hyatt Regency San Francisco Check-In Date: Sat, Jan 13, 2007 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Jan 15, 2007 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $80.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $160.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $32.02 Total Charges*: $192.02 Hope This Helps!
