  1. Happy to book this hotel for my cousin as he has an early flight out of Logan. Didn't see this match on the reveal section, but I was very pleased to find out it's a DoubleTree. 3. Sorry for the delayed response. The day you answered with the Residence Inn recommendation, I clicked the link and booked the hotel for $139 a night- with fees and taxes $158 per night. I am happy with that....knowing there is a sofa bed and a regular bed in the room. Also, the free breakfast is going to be great! Thank you for the advice. I wouldn't have moved that quickly without it. Also, the nice thing is that it can be cancelled by April 1st if necessary. I think I will let it ride....but it can't hurt to look around a little via betterbidding...... I'm getting hooked again! Thanks for a great site. roaming_jane
  4. Thank you for taking the time to write this detailed response. The cobwebs have lifted from my brain and I remember your general information posts now explaining the double occupancy thing. Thanks for restating it. I too saw the Residence Inn on PRICELINE.com and thought that was a pretty good deal and great for walking to and from the game. I will run that location by my friend. Thanks for the tip about your sister site as well. As ever, the site is awesome. roaming_jane
  5. Hello. I haven't used the site in awhile and I feel a bit rusty. I am going to Denver with a friend to attend a Rockies baseball game. We are staying 4/4/14-4/6/14. We want to stay downtown so that we can walk everywhere especially to the stadium (even if it's a long walk by some standards). We can pay up to $150 per night but it is important to get two beds in the room and 4* or better would be great. I see in the betterbidding hotel lists that there are quite a few boutique hotels and those are usually smaller rooms with one bed- is that a correct assumption? Generally, advice is appreciated on whether to use Priceline or Hotwire for this purchase. I see in priceline that there are 11 bidding areas with 3.5 or below (7 with 3* or below) so there would be a lot of flexibility there in submitting bids...again, I'm nervous about getting a room that only has one bed. Thanks for any help you can offer. And I've used the links to begin my investigations and will to complete my purchase. Thank you! roaming_jane
  6. I used the BiddingHelper.com on this site for the first time and I chose Priceline/Hoboken/4*. But instead of the normal blank spot where you can type in your own bid, it started with an amount of $178 and an arrow to lower the price. It would only lower to $119. I never saw this feature before, so curiosity got the better of me and I let it ride to see what would happen. Yesterday, I bid the regular way starting with $85 and got up to $105 with nothing accepted, so I figured $119 would be rejected as well....don't ask me why! Anyway, it was accepted and I got the Hyatt Regency. I am happy enough, but was hoping for the W in Hoboken, and feel like perhaps I could have gotten this same hotel for a bit less. Still so much to learn- like patience! No matter what, I always get a great deal through betterbidding! Thanks for a great site.
  7. After studying the board's awesome Hotwire pinned hotel list, I used the link and went to HOTWIRE. I saw Chelsea/Madison Square Garden $112 with the following amenities: Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet. It matched up to the pinned list with either Doubletree or New Yorker. Either one would be fine in my mind so I went ahead. It turned out to be DOUBLETREE CHELSEA 128 W. 29th Street. Thanks so much. p.s. I'm sure it's posted somewhere, but does it matter the order of the amenities listed in figuring out a hotel, or is it the general listing regardless of order?
  8. Had to split up the trip into Thursday/Friday and then checked Hotwire for Saturday separately: For $209 per night = $262 with taxes and fees got: (using the HOTWIRE link from this site!!!) Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers 811 Seventh Avenue, New York City, NY, 10019 Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access
  9. Can't even believe my luck, because I was looking high and low all over town with both Priceline and Hotwire, but through the guidance of this great board was able to get the following: (And of course I used the HOTWIRE link!) 4* Midtown Area East $150 10/27-10/29/11 amenities: fitness ctr, restaurants, biz center, High speed internet, spa W Hotel New York 541 Lexington Avenue, New York City, NY, 10022 Total for two nights with tax and fees: $372
  10. This is my first time using the hotwire feature. I usually use priceline, but had no luck getting a room near LAX in the price range I wanted. I used the link to HOTWIRE and saw 3 Star Culver City (2.5- 5mi from LAX) for $65 Amenities: Shuttle Fitness Pool Laundry Internet I never heard of this property, but the website looks really nice and they have a free 24hr airport shuttle which is really the most important feature for me. With tax and fees, it came to $79.79. The rack rate was $154 so I'm feeling pretty good. Hopefully, it will be as nice as it looks on the site! Thanks.
  11. Hello All. I checked the board, but didn't have too much info on what 4* were going for in the downtown Cleveland area. I searched other sites just to see and the rack rates seemed to be $130 and above. My husband really wanted a 4* ;I knew from the board that eventually I possibly could get Hilton Garden $43.....for some reason I punched in the PRICELINE link, downtown 4* and just plugged in $70 and it got accepted straight away. I always feel like I messed up when my first bid is accepted......ugh. I could have started lower cuz I had multiple bids to play with. But.....we're thrilled with the hotel, so that's what I'm sticking with. I suggest for others though to start lower! Marriott Cleveland Downtown At Key Center 127 Public Square Cleveland, OH 44114 216-696-9200 Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $70.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $140.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $30.52 (USD) Total Room Cost: $170.52 (USD) AAA rate on Marriott.com $134 per night. 12. Hey Gang, I never know how to cram in the topic for my win, but here's what I got: I saw on the board that there was a win for a 3* for $43 in Cleveland area, so I hit the PRICELINE link and started with a bid in West Lake (that's close to my relatives) at $35. It was rejected and priceline countered with an offer for me at $50. I knew I had 3 other region bids at my hands, but I jumped right to $40 and it was accepted. I always feel like I lost a couple bucks when it's accepted that quickly, but c'est la vie! Holiday Inn Cleveland West 1100 Crocker Road Westlake, Ohio 44145 United States 440-871-6000 Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $40.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $40.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $13.50 (USD) Total Room Cost: $53.50 (USD) Free parking. Rack rate: $85.99 Not too shabby. Thanks!
  13. Hey All. Using the PRICELINE link, I tried for $72 for a 4* in Union Square West. Rejected and priceline offered a rebid of $92 or to continue on my own. Tried on my own with two more bids and was rejected so lowered the star level to 3.5. Worked my way back up with a few rejected bids. Added Union Square East at $80 and was accepted as an upgrade to 4*. Clift, A Morgans Original 495 Geary Street. It looks like a really cool place. The rack rate there was $195! With taxes and fees priceline charged me $100.14. Awesome deal! Without this site, I would never know where to begin the bidding! Thanks again!
  14. Hey All, tried every which way but loose on PRICELINE (using the link of course) for an Atlanta Airport Hotel and stopped bidding once it got over $70 with 3*. Went to HOTWIRE using the link and saw a 2.5* Atlanta Airport for $39 showing amenities: shuttle fitness center pools restaurants business center laundry Booked it and it was Ramada Atl Airport Conference Center. One night 11/17/10-11/18/10 Total with tax and fees: $50.64. Works for me!
  15. Hello All. I started with the link to PRICELINE. I saw that for all the areas of Newark/Jersey City on priceline, only Jersey City had 4* properties so I knew I would have a lot of bids at my disposal. I tried a few days ago starting with $70 going up by $5 each time until I was out of bids at $90. Still rejected. A couple days later, I went back on betterbidding and saw that someone got the W Hotel in Hoboken for $106! That's the property I really wanted. So I decided to try again. So, I went back in and started at $90 in Jersey City 4*. Rejected. Priceline countered that with an addtional $22 I could get a guarantee. Passed on that. Added another area and $95 rejected. Added another area and $100 and was accepted for the Westin Jersey City. With taxes and fees the total is: $123.94. I am very happy. Do you think that if I had started at $106, I might have gotten the W hotel in Hoboken? The other bidder wasn't going for the same date as I was. Just curious on your thoughts. Thanks for a great site!
  16. Happy Impending New Year Everyone! We're going with another couple to Napa for New Year's and I was looking for a good deal on properties in Napa. Went to PRICELINE via the link and saw that Napa had 4* with a median of $146. Started the bidding at $70: rejected but priceline said they found a property for $93 if I wanted to accept right now. No thanks. added Fairfield at $75 rejected added Rohnert Park at $80 rejected added Santa Rosa at $83 rejected added Upper Napa at $86 accepted. With the taxes and fees it came out to $397.40 or $99.35 per night. I am very happy with that and it looks like a gorgeous property, but when I went into the hotel's website I saw they were offering $99 per night with two glasses of wine and breakfast. With taxes and fees it came to $125.50 per night.....so I guess I still got the better deal. With my savings, maybe I can get the breakfast and two glasses of wine for the same price.... I would never have found this property if not for PRICELINE. There are so many options for Napa. No regrets.....I'll drink them away in Napa. Thanks.
  17. Hello My Fellow Bidders, I am looking for Friday, Sat, and Sunday night (10/24-10/26) in Boston near the Copley/Theatre district. The rack rates are super high- like in the $190 range. Gotta do a little regular research to get the juices flowing. Cautious but undeterred, I went to priceline using the links on this page and then based on the info of a previous poster decided to start with 3* and $68 thinking that if I got the Radisson too, that'd be cool beans (boston baked). Flat out REJECTED. I remember learning on this site that if I didn't mind changing hotels, I might have better luck splitting up the trip. So, I decided to work on Sunday night first since I figured that would be the easiest. Went back in and changed the date to just Sunday night 10/25 and kept the star 3 and above and the price at $68. I guess I could've started the bidding at a lower price, but I'm still too antsy about getting a deal to dicker sometimes. It clicked and clicked and clicked some more, and then ACCEPTED popped up. It was the Courtyard Marriott Tremont! That's awesome and kind of annoying because two months ago, we used 25,000 Marriott points to spend a night in this very hotel that I could have gotten for $68! Anyway, it gave me the option of extending the stay at the same price before or after the check out date, but when it actually clicked through, it brought up a $191 price for Saturday night. No thank you. So, I'm a bit on my way. Friday and Saturday still need booking. Any tips or suggestions are appreciated. roaming_jane TJIT (travel Jedi in training)
  18. Oh Baby!!!! I get such a thrill from these great deals, I fear that I may start booking things when I'm not even going anywhere just for that rush of "accepted"! Has anyone ever had to have a betterbidding intervention? I used the PRICELINE link from this site and I chose Seattle Airport 3* and tried $30. I saw others were getting $45, but thought I'd try to low ball. Was rejected. Added North Everett and went with $40 and was accepted! We're catching a very early flight on Friday morning and it made more sense to stay at the hotel near the airport the night before with a friend dropping us off than paying $70 for a car service at 4am!!!!! Better Bidding 4EVA!
  19. Hi All, just got back from my stay at the Westin St. Francis on Sunday 4/26. We got a $71 rate on priceline. Upon checking in, we got a king bed room which was not near the elevator on the 10th floor; rm 1019. There wasn't a view from the window, but that wasn't important to us anyway. The room was decorated quite nicely, had the heavenly bed, big flat screen tv, nice double headed shower etc. It even had a walk in closet oddly enough! The only slight bummer for us was that the health club is an extra $12 per day. Other than that, awesome score!
  20. Thanks to everyone who posted their bids since that allowed me to share in the good fortune and snag this for $71 as well. I wonder if I could have gotten it a little more cheaply since there are so many bidding options for San Fran. I started at $65 4* Union Square East and was rejected but told if I raise my bid by $17 priceline would give me another crack. Thanks to my betterbidding education, I passed on that. I went back in and added Fisherman's Wharf and just raised it to $71 (I get antsy and jump ahead to a bid I know will be taken....but I should practice a little patience and try going up by $2). Anyway, I got it! The website for the Westin St. Francis looks amazing and most of the rack rates are in the high 100's and 200's! Hope we get a good room, but with those heavenly beds, can there be any bad rooms? Betterbidding has me once again, in the lap of luxury! p.s. I used the links. Is it the same benefit to use the banner ad link at the top of the site as it is to use the one in the support tab?
  21. Used the PRICELINE link to start. Selected Exec Park and put 3.5 stars and $38 for my first bid. Was accepted! $51.05 total. Added a full sized rental car for one day via PRICELINE for $19! Can't beat that! I love what I've learned on Betterbidding!!!!! What an awesome site!
  22. Hello! Used the support page link to go to PRICELINE. Saw that Ka'anapali and Wailea had resorts and 3.5 stars. Kihea and Kahului had only 3 stars and below. Started with resorts Ka'anapali $115. Rejected Added Wailea resorts $120 rejected Added Kihea $125 rejected Added Kahului $130 rejected Added 3.5* and $131 accepted for 3.5* Royal Lahaina Resort Not sure if that's the best score in the world, but I'm pretty happy. I've been trying for a few weeks and have been rejected all along, so I'm relieved to be done with it. Should I have added in the 3.5* earlier in the process?
  23. Hey Better Bidders! Still loving this site! We're off to Portland, OR for a high school football game this weekend and needed 2 rooms in the downtown area. I did a little research here to see what others have gotten and then clicked the link to PRICELINE. I started with Downtown Portland 4*and 3* $50. Rejected (I only meant to do 3*, but when I checked back, the 4* was checked too) Added Beaverton $55; rejected. Got a little nervous because I only had one more zone for 3* so I decided to jump the next bid by $10 Added North Portland; $65 ACCEPTED. The hotel looks gorgeous! Very happy with the score. I had a corporate code for Marriott and they were only offering $99, so this beat that!!!!
  24. Used the PRICELINE link to get started. Friday July 18th to Monday July 21st Selected Burbank 3* $50 rejected Added Studio City 3* $55 rejected Added Warner Center 3* $60 accepted. Hilton Woodland Hills Maybe it would have been better to start at $50 with Warner Center. Possibly could have gotten it for a little less. Oh well, still am happy with the score. Thanks Betterbidding!
  25. Via Savings Barn to Priceline, I got the 3* Holiday Inn Dallas North Addison for $40 for two nights Jan 18 & Jan 19th, 2008. I probably could have gotten it for $35, because I did once before earlier this year, but I botched the bidding a bit. My prime location was Frisco. I started with 3* for $28 and was rejected. Then I added areas that had 2.5 stars or less as follows: Lewsiville $31 rejected Hurst $35 rejected Grand Prairie $39 rejected Galleria $40 accepted. I should have put Galleria in as my second choice, not really sure what I was thinking. In any event, I am pleased to have gotten this price at $40. Thanks again.
