  1. Tried bidding $35, not excepted, was offered a bid of $54 but did not accept. Rebid at $39 and got it Daily offer price:$39.00 Number of days:6 Taxes & Fees$93.34 Total charged:$327.34
  2. Starting with the PRICELINE links on the site, here were my bids (for 4 star only): initially bid $75 Niagara Falls - Clifton Park zone, rejected (offered limited time 3* Ramada Niagara Falls / Fallsview @ $56 but did not take the 3* offer) rebid $80 and added Niagara Falls - Fallsview zone, rejected rebid $85 and added Niagara Falls - St. Catharines - Thorold and the bid was accepted! Offer Price:$85.00/night Number of rooms:1 Room Number of nights:2 Nights Room Subtotal:$170.00 Taxes & Fees:$38.80 Total Charged:$208.80
  3. I started with PRICELINE links to search for a 3* in Daytona Area. After initially researching stars levels for each zone, Ifirst decided to check PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals to get idea of maximum bids. I noticed the offer for 3* Ormond Beach Condo and searching past Better Bidding posts assumed thought it might be the Daytona Beach Resort and Conference Center. Checking out Trip Advisory reviews and photo's that seemed fine with me so I went with it instead my usual habit of using NYOP due to the already low price. tI turned out to beCove On Ormond Beach By Diamond Resorts instead. It also seems OK to me from what I see on their site and Trip Advisor. Noticed some complaints about extra $10/day Resort fee, but at $54/day booking that is still reasonable to me. Other sites were offering at $69/night +$19/ night taxes and fees for this property. Room price:$54.00/night Number of rooms:1 room Number of nights:3 nights
  4. Oops, sorry. That should have been in the New York Priceline forum for the Holiday Inn at Buffalo International Airport (BUF) Thanks for fixing my post and thanks for running this most helpful site.
  5. (posting an old win, but I am pretty sure I used the PRICELINE links on this site to begin) Deal Type:Name Your Own Price Room Price:$67.00 /room night Rooms:1 Nights:1 Room Subtotal:$67.00 Taxes & Fees:$16.71 Total Charged Today:$83.71
  6. This was a same day reservation which I booked using the PriceLine link from this site I wanted to get 3*, noticed there was only 1 bidding zone for Rocky Mount so understood my rebidding strategy would be limited Researching, found 3* published rates for 94/124/129 for Comfort Inn/Courtyard/Holiday Inn for that zone Noticed Priceline Express deal for 3* for $63 so knew that would be my ceiling Initial bid of $50 was rejected The suggested rebid of $61 (only $2 less tha PRICELINE EXPRESS deal) but took it due to lack of rebidding zones Won at that $61 rate, plus 14.84 tax = $75.84 total cost Amenities: Free Internet (in Room) Free Parking Indoor Pool Non-Smoking Gym Restaurant Handicap Accessible Business Center
  7. Thanks for the advice and additional research, Davelee53. I am very familiar with using PRICELINE for hotels and car rentals but never tried bidding for airfare before. I am not too familiar with Kayak. To answer your question, I had checked Expedia offerings first and remembered most of the choices were in the mid 200's and 300's. There was 1 in the high 100's that I missed because I took too long to act upon it and that's when I decided to Name Own Price on Priceline. I will keep Kayak in mind for the next time I am taking a trip.
  8. Travel party is 4 Adults and one 13 year old - looking for best deal on either 1 minivan or 2 economy/compact I used the the BetterBidding Car Rental Checker tool and noticed high demand warning and decided to start looking at Price.line Retail prices 2 economy/compact and noticed suggested retail in the $60s. Switched to Name Your Own Price and proceeding bidding up compacts to $35/day no luck. Closed browser started over from Better Bidding started looking at Minvan Retail. Lowest 1st tier was Dollar at $404/weekly, $581 total with tax, Switched to Name your Own Price beginning bid of $38/day was rejected. Offered 1-time rebid and re-bid at $42/day and was accepted Your Offer Price: $42.00 (per day)w Total Rental Days: 8 SubTotal: $336.00 Taxes and Fees: $124.12 Total Rental Car Charges: $460.12 You saved 44%!*
  9. Both yesterday and today I started using the PRICELINE QuickQuote feature on BetterBidding. I needed 2 rooms (me, my wife and our 13 yr. old in one, Father-in-law & Mother-in-law in other) for 2 nights in a hotel before beginning our timeshare week in Orlando. The day before I tried bidding for a 3* using on zone at a time (not all zones had 3*) starting at $45 and incrementing a little each time until final unsuccessfu bid of $60 on all zones Today, I began bidding 2.5* hotels, began with Cocoa Beach at $45 and was rejected. I rebid at $46 and adding Titusville zone and was accepted. Later, I checked the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals and am pretty sure based on location, stars and amenities (free breakfast,/internet/parking) the same hotel is indicated at $50/night, but also noticed there was a 3* for $68 In Express Deals. So, rethinking my strategy, I wished I checked that ifirst and made another try a 3* bidding again ending a little higher. I must admit am a little anxious became I never stayed in less than a 3* on Priceline before and so am slightly worried about possibly disappointing my family. At least it is only for 2 nights so, we'll see how it goes. Details: Deal Type: Name Your Own Price Room Price: $46.00 /room night Rooms: 2 Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $184.00 Taxes & Fees: $32.84 Total Charged Today: $216.84
  10. I used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link to start Bid $60 3star and selected Ledyard zone, won it on the first try (makes me thinks I should have started lower) Deal type: Name Your Own Price Offer price: $60.00 /night Number of rooms: 1 room Number of nights: 1 night Room subtotal: $60.00 Taxes & fees: $16.78 Total charged today: $76.78
  11. Here are the flight details, The returning flight earlier than I would have preferred but OK considering the price. 12. There is a stop in Atlanta on each leg. For the past few weeks I had been bidding $140 and waiting the 2 days and rebidding the same amount with no luck. Then decided to rebid more frequently using the bidding on Airfare tips, but did not have the patience to increment at only $1 at a time due to having to enter the information on 5 passengers each time. I started over from PRICELINE links on this site each time I bid $150, $160, $169, and finally was accepted at $178 on Delta. Flight Ticket Cost $178.00 /ticket Taxes And Fees $35.35 /ticket Number of Tickets 5
  13. (Oops, I usually start from the Priceline links from BetterBidding.com but forgot this time) Started bid for zone Harrisburg at $55 and was rejected, Added zone East Harrisburg upped bid to $60 and was rejected. Notice "Best Deal" of $82 for 3.5 stars which I assumed was the Sheraton I was after Added zone Grantville and upped bid to $70 and was rejected again Added zone Hershey and upped bid to $75 as was finally accepted. Not quite as low as recent wins for Harrisburg, but still better than the "Best Deal" offer. Summary of Charges: Room Cost $75.00 /per room night Rooms 1 Nights 1 Taxes and Fees $16.06 Total Charges $91.06
  14. I was trying to paste the details of my win from my Priceline e-mail (cost, rooms, night, taxes and fees, total, etc.) but neither the right click paste nor Ctrl-V paste would work so I ended up manually retyping these details in my Priceline win new post this morning. My default browser is Internet Explorer 11, which I am also using to write THIS post. Even in THIS post, copy and pasting using the keyboard shortcuts, toolbar icons or right click options to/from this paragraph do not work. (My OS Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit) Later on a whim, I decided to see if the same issue existed with Chrome, and it DID NOT have any issue using either Ctrl-V or right click Paste option using Chrome. It worked as expected. I didn't bother trying any other browsers. I am almost positive that I have been able to paste these details from e-mail into the post editor in IE some time ago, but this may have been before you updated the site (looks great by the way) or perhaps before I updated this laptop to IE11. Is this a known issue general issue with the site and IE11, or might there be some setting in my own instance of IE11 that might be the culprit? Just thought you'd want to know in case other users experience the same frustration trying to paste the details of their win into their post, which is the most convenient way to make sure these important extra details are included.
  15. I used the PRICELINE link on the site to begin. During the day Saturday and Sunday my son was performing at the New England Music Festival at 3.5* Newton Marriot. We also had tickets for Red Sox at Fenway Saturday night (they lost in extra innings to the Brewers :( ) so I had flexibility to stay either in Newton or Waltham to be near the festival or to stay anywhere along I-90 to be near Fenway. (I just wanted to be sure to avoid Logan airport or other outlying zones). First I called the Marriott thinking to make a cancellable reservation at the $110 block rate, but not only was the block rate gone, the entire hotel was sold out. I noticed a successful recent post by someone else that was attending the same festival and won a $70 bid at 4* Westin Waltham, and I had a similar win last year for the same even and since I remember it was only 10 minute drive would have been pleased to get the same deal. I began bidding at $50 and kept adding zones along I-90 and incrementing by $5 or $10 and finally got this Cambridge East - Charlestown, which was still close enough (2.3 mi) to check in, grab a cab and make it to Fenway for the first pitch). At least I was able to get a quality hotel for the same block rate I could have gotten at Newton Marriott if I booked earlier. Details of winning bid: Room Cost - $110 Room - 1 Nights - 1 Taxes and Fees - $23.77 Total Charges - $133.77 BTW Valet parking was $34 for one night.
  16. Beginning from the PRICELINE links on BB, I bid $70 for 3.5 stars in Newton-Waltham zone HOPING to get Newton Marriott property, where my son is participating in a music festival that Sat/Sun. PL upgraded me to 4 stars and gave me The Westin Waltham on the first try. The Marriott's discounted rate for participants is $110. I feel somewhat unlucky about this, but knew the risk. It is only 11 min. drive away, so while inconvenient, at least I am still saving $40. I know it is very difficult to try to get a specific hotel, but any advice from BB for future reference on how I may have improved my chances would be appreciated. Would starting my bid lower possibly have helped? Details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $70.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Fees: $16.34 Total Charged to Card: $86.34 {Note: Oops, I messed up the heading, $70 should be in the 2nd line and the property name should be on the 1st line. Can someone fix that for me? Also, I wasn't sure if the heading should have the 3.5 stars that I originally bid, or the 4.0 stars that PL upgraded me to when posting the win}
  17. Using the Better Bidding PRICELINE links to start my search I began with a bid of $15 for a mid size and was rejected. I continue to bid for almost all the higher models up to $28 and was rejected. Bidding down, I bid $14 for Compact and was rejected. I bid $13 for an Economy and was finally accepted. It is me, my wife and our 10 year old in Oahu for the week, so hopefully we won't be too cramped, but still pleased with the savings. Taxes seems pretty high though. Your Offer Price: $13.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 7 SubTotal: $91.00 Taxes and Fees: $81.37 Total Rental Car Charges: $172.37
  18. Using the Better Bidding PRICELINE links I initially bid $25 for a mid-size but was not accepted. Rebidding $30 on a Standard size was not accepted; I rebid $35 on a Full size and it was accepted. For the four days, with $70.64 taxes and fees = $210.64. Seems pretty good to me.
  19. I got the e-mail alert from a few hours before this priceline win and tried the same strategy and obtained the same result. Using the BetterBidding PRICELINE links to start to start my search I began bidding @ $150 for Zone 1 Ka'anapali - Lahaina and was unsuccessful. After checking BetterBidding Hotel Lists for Hawaii to make sure zones 4,3,2 did not have any 4 star or Resort hotels, I rebid adding $5 each time. After reaching $165 and no success, I closed browser, started over with Zone 1 starting bidding @ $170, added zones 4, 3 then was successful at $180. Details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $180.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 Travel Insurance: $10.00 Room Subtotal: $370.00 Taxes & Fees: $61.62 Total Charged to Card: $431.62 I have never purchased Travel Insurance option with PriceLine before but as this my first trip to Hawaii I decided to get it since it only added $5/night, but wonder how others feel about Travel Insurance with PriceLine in general. I knew this is where I wanted to be for my planned 2.5 days on Maui and am content (if not exactly thrilled) with this deal. Following this I am already staying in 2/22/13-3/1/13 at timeshare exchange in Oahu (Marriott Ko Olina) but still need to book something on Big Island 3/1/13-3/5/13 near volcanos and could use advice/strategey on that segment (understand will be less than 4* for this portion)
  20. If I use this feature again in the future I will try to be more careful to capture it.
  21. I used the BB PRICELINE link to start my search, but instead of Name Your Own Price, I used the Express Deals tab when I saw they were offering a 3 star for $45/night. Works for me.
  22. Your Offer Price: $92.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $184.00 Taxes and Fees: $36.32 Total Charges*: $220.32 Bid 3* Downtown zone at $92 and got this 3.5* Sheraton on first try I was trying for Magnolia Hotel (where my conference is being held) based on a post here from 2008. From Google maps, seems like 6.5 blocks. If anyone knows if Downtown Dallas is safe to walk on a Monday morning, please reply.
  23. Thanks for your help and for recommending BWI pricewise and for being not-too-far-off I95. According to the PL check boxes in the Select Area's section there were not any 3* properties in those other two zones anyway. I used the sites PRICELINE link for my successful bidding and I posted my win and strategy in a new topic just now, but wasn't exactly sure how to put a link in this post to that one. This is a great site! I will continue posting some of my past wins (if I can find the old e-mails since my PRICELINE history doens't seem to have them). Thanks again.
  24. (I used site's PRICELINE link to make my bids) I wanted 3* and to stay close to I95. From the star levels PL showed available in the different areas it was clear that BWI was going to be the only possible match Starting bid was $30 BWI $35 added Baltimore East $40 added Baltimore Stadiums $45 added Inner Harbor - Downtown $46 added Baltimore West Won: Hotel Name: Courtyard By Marriott Bwi Airport 1671 W Nursery Rd Linthicum, Maryland 21090-2213 410-859-8855 Your Offer Price: $46.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes and Fees: $13.69 Total Charges*: $59.69
  25. (I am adding some of my previous wins) Check-In Date: Saturday, July 28, 2007 Check-Out Date: Sunday, July 29, 2007 Hotel Name: Hilton Boston Logan Airport 85 Terminal Road East Boston, Massachusetts 02128 617-568-6700 Summary of Charges Billing Date: July 23, 2007 Your Offer Price: $115.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $115.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $22.91 Total Charges*: $137.91 I learned a lesson here on bidding strategy: wanted 4* Copley and started bidding at $85; kept incrementing by $5 and adding zones without any 4* until I finally added Airport zone and got trapped with a winning bid at the airport. Nice hotel, but rather than walking from Copley we had to take a few different subway lines (the "T") to get to Fenway Park.
