  1. Started at $55 in Alexandria West, rebid $60 and won at $63. Really wanted this hotel and am pretty certain it was the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal for $69 and the HOTWIRE hot Rate for $70 thanks to the helpful hotel amenities listed on this site. :) Cheapest rate on Choicehotels website is $87. Very happy with this win since this was the last weekend of the Cherry Blossom Festival and also spring break.
  2. Been bidding since Wednesday without luck. Started at $40 today, got the raise your bid to $52 right now message. Raised bid to $44, then to $45 and got it. PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals showing $55 for 3.5. Bid through your PRICELINE link every time...
  3. Been trying to bid on 3* in Sunnyvale/Santa Clara and/or Cupertino/Campbell area for a few days no with no luck. Bidding starting at $50 going up to 62. Today started with Cupertino at $50 -rejected added Mountain View (no 3* there) at $55- rejected Started new bid Sunnyvale 3* at $55, got the "raise your bid by $15" window added Cupertino at $61 and got Residence Inn Silicon Valley I - lowest rate is $179 on their website, so a good deal. Reviews seem mostly positive. started bids using your PRICELINE link
  4. This is what is says under the hotels for SD list here: 4* Hotel Solamar Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business (same as Omni and Westin Gaslamp Quarter and sometimes Hilton Gaslamp and sometimes Hilton Bayfront) OR Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet (same as Westin Gaslamp Quarter and Hotel Indigo) Not sure if this helps since it looks like those amenities could be Solamar, Omni or Westin. You may need to give more info as to what you are seeing on Hotwire for someone to help you though.
  5. Well, just tried again and got upgraded to 4* Marriott Monterey for $69 bid. Rate on Marriott's site is $179. Reviews seem mostly positive. Started at $62 and got the "raise your bid by $17 screen. Tried $67 adding free zone - rejected Tried $69 adding free zone and got it! Used your PRICELINE link. Thanks!
  6. OK. Yes a second opinion would be good. The amenities are: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access 3* Hotel for 4/6/10 Monterey
  7. Tried again today with no success. There is a 3* hotel showing up on Hotwire for $68 that I believe is the Holiday Inn Express as the amenities all match up. I am thinking of just going for that and using the rebate from my Entertainment Book.
  8. Can you use the rebate for one night stays?
  9. Casa Munras has a special rate right now for $118 - reduced from $189. Other hotels are at $189. Tried $65 Monterey added rebid zone $67 added rebid zone $69 added rebid zone $71 all rejected. will try again since we still have 3 weeks and update this thread.
  10. Started at $36 in Costa Mesa/Irvine - rejected Added Laguna Beach and went up to $39. Was hoping for the Doubletree at the Spectrum, but happy with this one too. Your Offer Price: $39.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $195.00 Taxes and Fees: $33.85 Total Charges*: $228.85 Used the PRICELINE link.
  11. My winning bid is posted in this Priceline Rental Car thread, but I started bidding about 6 weeks out from our trip and kept getting rejected. I finally won last week - our trip is 4/11 - 4/17.
  12. Woohoo! Finally got it! National Car Rental - Compact Your Offer Price: $15.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 6 days(5 days and 18 hours) Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes and Fees: $45.51 Total Charges: $135.51 Lowest Published Price: $166.53 Total Savings:* $31.02 (You saved 19%) My reservation was for $168 total for an economy car, so we got an upgrade and paid less. :) I also got offered a chance to upgrade to an Intermediate for $2 more a day, full size or std. for $3 more, convertible for $10 more or SUV for $11 more. We are sticking with the Compact though. Used your PRICELINE link.
  13. 3/19 $14 Compact $15 Mid Size $16 Std. All rejected.
  14. Bid again today, 3/15, all rejected: $14 Compact $15 for Mid Size and Std. However, the screen with the good and great chance prices listed them as $20 and $21, down from $21 and $22 and there was a price drop on Hotwire to $22.95 for Compact and $23.95 for Mid Size. So I may get my price yet! :)
  15. Good luck with your bid and thanks in advance for posting what you get. :)
  16. $14 Compact $15 Mid Size $15 Standard All rejected, and what was really annoying was that all 3 times, it gave me that "we are still working on your request, please click the check my status button after several minutes" screen. So I had to sit and wait several more minutes for the "Sorry..." screen. Will try again midweek.
  17. $13 Economy $13 Compact $14 Midsize All rejected, but I got an email from HOTWIRE that there was a price drop and sure enough on Hotwire the cars are about $10 less per day than before. Also, this time when I got the "$13 would be a great price for your car" screen, but instead of the $25 and $26 they had listed before, the prices were $21 and $22 for the good and great chance prices. :) I am going to wait another couple of days and bid again.
  18. Travelbee, I will keep updating this post with my bidding history and hopefully my win! :) Glad you got a good deal through DiscountHawaiiCarRental. Bid again today, all rejected: $14 Economy $15 Compact $15 Midsize
  19. I have been getting the same message on my HNL bids the last 2 days with the same dolllar amounts they suggested to you. Thanks to FarNorthTrader for his info too.
  20. 2/22/09 $12 Economy $13 Compact $14 Midsize All rejected. I'll try again in a couple of days.
  21. I went through someplace called DiscountHawaiiCarRental and requested a quote and Thrifty was the cheapest. The total is $168 with taxes, etc. for an economy car, so with Priceline's fees added in, you are correct, I could bid as high as $15 and still get a good discount. I figured I would lowball it for awhile. Thanks for your help. I will come back and bid again through the board PRICELINE link and keep this updated. :)
  22. $23.33 per day/$140 for 6 days. I did get that email from PRICELINE called Tips for Successful Bidding to HNL, telling me to increase my bid or bid on another model.
  23. I have lots of time to bid this, but I thought I would just test the waters: $10 Economy $10 Compact $11 Midsize All rejected. Did use your PRICELINE link and will use it again on my next bids. I have a cancelable backup reservation at Thrifty.
  24. Hotwire: Std. Size Car $34.95 $185.23 total Hotwire hot Deal (Airport counter) Std. Size Car $39.99 $172.36 total Enterprise Thereuare - I haven't used Priceline in almost 2 years because our vacations were to National Parks where we could drive to in one day and stay there. I was a member at "that other bidding board" for years and posted there. I promise to post my winning bids here for San Jose and SF when I make them as I have been using this board to get an idea of bids for those areas. I would promise to post for Carmel too, but I don't think I will using Priceline for that stay. And yes I will use your link for the Priceline bids. :)
