  1. This must have been one of the top places to stay in Portland many years ago. These days it needs some work. The front of the place looks a little dingy. The common areas are very spiffy. The lobby cafe and the restaurant with the view of the river are very well kept. As for the room it was adequate but the carpet needed replacing. Very clean. Huge bathroom. Comfortable bed. Small balcony. No hallway noise or door slamming. I was in the East wing. No traffic noise. Very little noise from the planes taking off from PDX. Free parking. Free computer access in the business centre. A little hard to find but worth it. A nice place to stay just to see the lobby.
  2. Hi: I noticed you have a Starwood Preferred Guest link on your home page. I mentioned to the desk clerk he said "So? Means nothing with a PRICELINE reservation".
  3. Hi: Stay was for the past week. As I mentioned before I had someone do my bidding for me while I was on the road.

  6. Hi: I can't find the edit button. I did add the dates to the original post but I'm assuming it made the subject line too long. I also left instructions on how to use the link in the message to start the bid but it seems like that didn't work either. Sorry.
  7. Hi: Tried $50 for a 2/12 in Portland Added Vancouver-Rejected Added Lake Oswego-Rejected Added North Harbour-Rejected Added 3* Increased bid to $55 and was upgraded to the Red Lion. Review to follow.
  8. Hi: Not really impressed with this property. I thought I'd try a four star hotel just to see how the other half lives. Complimentary underground parking on weekends. There are several businesses on the North side of the hotel that might be used for parking during the week. As long as one leaves the area early in the morning that should work. Very impressive lobby area. Smooth check in. No Priceline bias. Up to the twentieth floor. Rapid elevator. Nice quiet hallway. Huge tall king bed. Floor to ceiling glass wall with a view of a construction crane. Nose prints on window. Not mine. Greasy head prints on headboard of bed. Not mine. Nose prints by peep hole on door. Not mine. Dust bunnies along edge of carpet. Housekeeping needs some attention. I didn't explore the business centre or the dining areas. The bar area was very noisy as I walked by. Folio slipped under door in the morning.
  9. Hi: Won Hyatt on first bid. $80. Complimentary underground parking on the weekends. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $80.00 Subtotal: $80.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.46 Total Charges*: $99.46 Review to follow.
  10. Won this property as an upgrade from a 2 1/2. Hoping for a Courtyard or a Garden Inn. Priceline considers this a 3* property but it should be looked at again. First off is the smell as you walk in the front door. Musty, damp, mouldy. The people at the front desk showed no bias to a Priceline reservation. I was afraid I was going to get stuck in the low rise older section that has so many poor reviews on Trip Advisor. I inquiried about an upgrade and was offered the Club floor for an extra $10. I have a Priority Club membership and I had phoned in my number earlier in the day. I received a room on the controlled access fifth floor. It came with a $5 off coupon for the Yankee Diner just off the lobby. Up to the fifth floor. Different odour. Still musty. Opened up door of room, different odour. Cigar smoke maybe. Opened up the window and turned on the A/C. Went down for supper. No odd smell in the Yankee Diner. Recommend the pot roast. Returned to the room and found the smell was gone. Nice selection of toiletries in bathroom. Nice updated bed and bedding. Room could use a little TLC by the house cleaning staff but quite comfortable. On the I-405 freeway side but little traffic noise.
  11. I bid for a 2 1/2 and got upgraded to the Holiday Inn Select on Grady Way.
  12. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $45.00 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.88 Total Charges*: $58.88 Linked through Savingsbarn. After trying unsucessfully to land a 2 1/2* in Bellevue or Lake Union up to $70 I tried Renton. Another BetterBidder had won a Marriott there for $45 a short time before. I got upgraded to the HI. I asked for an upgrade and for $10 I received a room on the controlled access fifth floor. It's wasn't a bad room but I'll post a review on the other page.
  13. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $38.00 Subtotal: $38.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.09 Total Charges*: $51.09 Check in May 29. Check out May30 Tried $30 rejected. Offered $38 and as I was a little short on time I accepted. Extended Stay's off brand accomodations. If you need a cheap place to stay this will fill the bill. The Puyallup property is getting a little rundown but it's a reasonably clean, safe, quiet(except for the trains) three story motel. All the rooms are equipped with a kitchenette and there are laundry facilities on the main floor. Limited front desk hours but if you call ahead they will meet you. Booked through Savingsbarn.
  14. A newer property on the banks of the Columbia River. I requested a high floor room and got the third floor out of four. No Priceline bias at the front desk. East facing room with a view of the river. Very clean and all of Marriott's properties are smoke free. New mattresses and bedding. Gone are the questionable bedspreads. Clean, quiet except for some drunk playing his video game at 2 a.m.. A call to the desk got that problem fixed. Clerk offered to make supper reservations for us if we didn't feel like eating at the hotel's restaurant. We had breakfast in the hotel. Bacon and eggs cooked to order for $7.95 a plate. Very tasty. I highly recommend this property. A little tricky to find but well worth the trip.
