  1. Having lived in Miami for many years (although I don't live there now), I would suggest SoBe near or on Ocean Drive since you will be there for 4 nights, especially if you do not plan on getting a car. There might not be much to do or see in Coral Gables w/o a car and downtown Miami can be dicey depending on where you are (especially after dark). I always tell people that Miami is a great place to visit but I would never live there again (unless I was fabulously wealthy of course!)
  2. Went with the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer rather than bidding because I needed to have a pet friendly hotel. It also gave the option to select bed choice so I could get the 2 beds I needed. For what it's worth -- It said savings of 28%+ which is exactly the discount off the website rate (I don't really use the savings % posted as a real indicator before booking but in this case it was spot on.) The following amenities were shown: Indoor or Outdoor Pool Pets Allowed Fitness Center Free Parking Free Internet Free Breakfast Business Center lq.com rate was $75
  3. Amenities shown before purchase: Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Pets Allowed, Fitness Center, Free Parking, Free Internet, Free Breakfast, Business Center Also showed: Guest Rating of 8.0 and "Bed choice available" Website rates were $101 and $97 for these 2 nights This property is much nicer than the 3-star Holiday Inn across the street which showed a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal that was $2 less. Both take pets at no additional charge but the Holiday Inn needs to be renovated and does not have free breakfast.
  4. Amenities shown before purchasing this PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal: Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Free Parking, Free Internet, Business Center Website rate was $98.xx/nt
  5. There is only one PRICELINE EXPRESS deal in Biloxi for these dates (all 4 nights) and it is a 3.5 star w/ Pets Allowed and Free Parking for $246/nt. I can say w/ near certainty that this is Harrah's Gulf Coast (formerly the Grand). EDIT: The price changed to $295 while I was typing this.
  6. PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal w/ the following amenities listed: Free Breakfast, Free Internet in room, Outdoor Swimming Pool, Free Parking, Fitness Center Also showed Guest Rating of 8.0 and "Bed choice available". The bed choice clued me in to which property it would be, so I knew it was the Comfort Inn before buying. Best rate on hotel website for these dates was $63.99/nt. I used the 5% off code SUMMER14 to bring actual rate down to $50.35.
  7. Amenities shown: Free Breakfast, Free Internet in room, Outdoor Swimming Pool, Free Parking, Pets Allowed, Business Center, Fitness Center I decided to go with the Express deal because I had a coupon code which took off another $5/nt Website rate was $79.95.
  8. Didn't even bother to bid this time, just went with the pl Express deal to take advantage of the $20 off $100 coupon code ---- that makes it $29/nt The only amenity shown on the priceline.Express deal was free breakfast
  9. Bid $37 and received a counteroffer of $43. Refused counteroffer and used free rebid to win at $38. Express deal that is most certainly this property was listed for $42.
  10. After bidding up to $33 for a 2* in this zone and getting rejected, I just took the PRICELINE EXPRESS offering. I knew it would be the Travelodge, same as a few weeks ago. The only amenity shown was free breakfast.
  11. I started at $44 and used free rebids to bid in $1 increments until I hit at $48. PRICELINE EXPRESS was showing a deal on a 4* for $52 which was most certainly this property. While PL does not specifically mention it on the win page, this property charges a $5.60/nt resort fee upon check in.
  12. I needed a bit of certainty so I went with a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal Guaranteed Amenities Shown: Free Breakfast, Free Internet in room, Outdoor Swimming Pool, Free Parking, Pets Allowed, Business Center, Fitness Center Bed Choice was also shown: I chose "Two Queen Beds Microwave Fridge Nonsmoking 32 Inch Hdtv Free Wifi Free Breakfast" Hotel website rates for these days: $84.95 / $94.95 / $94.95 / $84.95
  13. Got this on first bid. Priceline Express showed a 3* deal that looked like it was this property (Free Internet in room, Outdoor Pool, Free Parking, Restaurant, Business Center, Fitness Center) for $54 so I wanted to see if I could beat that even considering the 10% off coupon code for Express. This comes in about $6 less for the entire stay than the Express deal was after the coupon. Hotwire had a 3* offer that also looked like it was this property for $58. Best rate on hotel's website for these dates was $97.50/nt. Perfect spot for me since I'll be at a conference across the road at the Beau Rivage.
  14. Got this on 1st PRICELINE bid. The lowest rate on the hotel website was $79.99/nt for these dates. Expe.dia had it for $60/nt.
  15. After bidding over several days for a 2 star from $29 all the way up to $36 in $1 increments, I decided to choose the Express Deal offering for $38 because the total cost was actually less than the $36 bid due to the SPRING14 5% off coupon code on the express deal. I received a counteroffer of $46 on my bids of $33 and $35. The rate for these dates on the hotel's website was $44/nt. The only amenity listed on the Express Deal page was free breakfast. Not exactly what I was hoping for due to the reports of trains that run right behind the hotel every night, but I knew this was a possibility before I purchased.
  16. Mod -- Please correct your edit to my original title --- the original bid was for a 2.5*, but the winning bid is for the 3* Radisson.
  17. Update: 3* Radisson Hotel Jacksonville (Southpoint - Butler Boulevard) $35 6/4/10-6/5/10 Rebid with $5 bonus cash (only good for 3* or better), so cost was $30 + $11.75 taxes/fees = $41.75 My guess is that 2.5* Best Western was not showing rooms thru PRICELINE but probably was showing rooms thru HOTWIRE. Best Western has free breakfast - Radisson does not - but with bonus cash I saved about $5 over HOTWIRE and Radisson is nicer property (sleep# beds I think).
  18. Started out at $26, then bid $28, $30, $31 -- counteroffer for $10 more, $32, $33 -- counteroffer again for $10 more, and $34 rejected. Hotwire has a 3* in the zone for $35 (match for Best Western JTB which is 2.5* on PL). It works out a few pennies less than bidding $35 on PL so I won't bid higher. Might try 3* on PL w/ $5 bonus....will update later. (Also rejected up to $49 for 2.5* in Orange Park)
  19. There is no guarantee you will be able to get 2 beds on any PRICELINE purchase and from the research you have done it appears even more unlikely in this instance since their website shows no 2-bed rooms available. Be prepared, bring the air mattress. The usual advice on this forum for PRICELINE counteroffers is to rebid near the mid-point of your original bid and the amount of the counteroffer. Most of the time you would be successful at an amount below the counteroffer, although this may require waiting 24 hours if there are no free rebids in the zone.
  20. Glad to see you got a good deal on the hotel you wanted. A useful strategy that has been presented on this forum for counter-offers from Priceline is to re-bid approximately half-way between your original bid and the counter-offer. You could also re-bid a little less than the half-way point and move up toward that point on successive rebids -- this depends on both the number of free rebids you have and the amount of time you have to work it.
  21. Used your link. Thanks for the great site!! Bid $10 yesterday and received counteroffer for $12, refused and waited until today. Booked a little over 2 hours before pickup time. Economy Car - $11 Dates: 1:00PM June 19 - 12:30PM June 22 Rental Agency: Hertz Total with taxes and fees: $55.56 Rate on Hertz website: $164.08 Hotwire Price: $65.xx ($14.95/day++)
  22. Started last week with bid of $39 and was offered a counter to raise my bid $11 more ($50). I declined. Came back today and started at $40 and used free rebids to bid $41, $42, $43, $44 and $45...accepted. Lowest rate on Holiday Inn's website was $98. BTW - Bids of $35 and $38 were rejected for a 2.5* with no counter. Same place I got for more $$ a year ago when I traveled there for the same reason.....see last year's Jacksonville Orange Park
  23. HOTWIRE and PRICELINE rates may rise or fall and so can the hotels' direct rates, although they might not move in unison (in other words the hotel may raise its rate and Hotwire's may go down). Nonetheless, a couple of months ago I was looking to book the Venetian for a conference in Feb. The "special" conference rate was $319 and the hotel's best internet rate was $339. Now the Venetian's rate is $139 online and the conference rate is still $319. Glad I waited!!
  24. Looking at HOTWIRE for your dates...you can get what I am 99% sure is the Trump for $159 and what I am 90% sure is the Wynn for $169. These should be possible to win on PRICELINE for less, but I don't think they will go for $90 or less (your target) at this time. That isn't to say the prices won't drop as the date get closer. Good luck.
  25. Update: Hotwire is now showing the same offer for $112 for my dates. It is interesting that someone got the Venetian for 2/5-2/7 for $93 with the same ammenities listed. Also showing the Condo offer (now known to be the Trump) for $96. I'm not willing to risk getting the Trump on Priceline, but may risk getting Wynn versus Venetian on Hotwire. EDIT: I just noticed that the other person reported Tripadvisor traveler rating 4.0 out of 5 based on 1680+ customer reviews when getting the Venetian. I see a traveler rating of 4.0 out of 5 based on 1460+ reviews so I still think I am seeing the Wynn.
