After bidding PRICELINE numerous times (using the link here) without success, I booked the hotel I originally asked about on HOTWIRE (using the link here) La Quinta Inn Columbia/Jessup 2 1/2 Stars $61 per night for 3 nights beginning August 10, 2011 Taxes and fees came to $37.24 complimentary breakfast, fitness center, business center, self-service laundry, high speed internet access

I see that it's customary to click on the HOTWIRE link after posting, but before receiving a response. So I have done so. Just to add some information: The price for the hotel I'm asking about is $62 and it's recommended by 80% of hotwire customer reviews.

I'm confused. As I read the calendar, someone won a Priceline room in London (Docklands) Marriott West India Quay between June 1, 2012 and June 14, 2012. As of today, I can't search on the Priceline site for anything further out than April 15, 2012. What am I doing wrong? :)

Using your PRICELINE link, I bid $50 per night for a 3.5* hotel in Houston: Galleria, Med Center, or Downtown. It was not accepted. I added a free rebidding zone and raised my bid to $52. I got the 4* Hilton Houston Post Oak -Houston Galleria. We ended up doing Orlando as a day trip.

Is it possible to bid for a condo on priceline?

When I searched HOTWIRE for the Orlando area, several choices came up that were identified as "condo"s. Is there a way to bid on PRICELINE for a condo?

I don't think that by listing amenities hotwire intends to give their customers a clue as to which hotel they may be getting, even though we use it to help make an educated guess. The price of a discounted rate through HOTWIRE is that we take a chance on which hotel we'll get.

If I felt as strongly as you seem to about which hotel I'd get, I would not use HOTWIRE or PRICELINE.

I was referring to the whole town of Cocoa Beach as "resorty". I'm not sure I mean the same thing by "resorty" as you do. The only "resort" I know of in the area is Ron Jon Resort Cape Caribe. http://www.ronjonresort.com/maps.aspx It's an "oceanfront resort/waterpark in Cape Canaveral. I've never been there, so I can't recommend it. It's a timeshare resort, but they do have rentals.

All of Orlando/Kissimmee is Disney-related. Have you considered Cocoa Beach instead? It's closer to Port Canaveral than Orlando and very resorty.

In searching for hotels of the 2* type in the Orlando area, I've come to a couple of conclusions about using Priceline and Hotwire for low priced hotels: It's difficult to use rebidding since most areas have 2* hotels. By the time Priceline and Hotwire add on their fees, very little money is saved over booking with a discount rate such as AAA, AARP, "internet users", etc. For saving so little money, the Priceline or Hotwire users take a chance on location, encountering unexpected fees, and losing all their money if they have to cancel. Are my conclusions valid? Can they be generalized to other cities? Is it worth using Hotwire or Priceline for 2* or 1* hotels?
