  1. Hi, I'm trying to get a hotel in Downtown Boston or WTC for one night -- 3/16. I'd prefer downtown Boston. I'm looking at price over star quality. Do you think my max bid is too low? Any suggestions for modifying my bidding strategy? I'll post my bidding history below. 4* Downtown (DT)- $55 + Medford - $60 New Bid DT + S. Boston (SB) - $65 + Medford - $70 ________ 3* DT - $47 + S. Boston - $52 New Bid DT + Medford - $57 + SB - $65 ________ 2.5* DT - $55 + WTC - $60 ________ 4* WTC WTC + SB - $65 + Medford - $70 Thanks in advance.
  2. I saw that someone snagged a 2.5* Residence Inn in April on the TOBB site for $55. I made the tyro mistake of trying a low ball bid on the 2.5* without bidding on the the 3* strategy first so I'm locked out for 72 h. Question: If I wanted to try for a 2.5* in Downtown or CC with a max of $65, are there any free rebidding zones?
  3. Well.... SideStep now has the Hilton Double Tree Resort Lodge and Spa listing at $77 US and the Renaissance Fallsview listed at $74 US. I followed the strategy listed above with a max bid of $63 instead of $65. I was still rejected. I'm thinking of trying again in about 10 days. I figure that should put me within a 6 week timeframe.

  5. Hi all, I've decided to try to bid for the 3* with a max of $85 for either DT or CC. There's 2 people total in my group, so I figure I'll try for the 3* first and use TravelGuy's plan for backup in case I'm unsuccessful close to my travel date. Can someone please post a bidding strategy for me? I'm still uncertain about how to figure out the maximum number of rebid combos. Thanks.
  6. Hi, I'm going to try low balling again for a 4* in Niagara ONT using the following strategy tomorrow: 1) niagara = $45 2) Niagara & St Cath = $55 3)Start a new bid nad select Niagara & welland = $60 4)Niagara& Sta Cath and Welland = $65 In your experience bidding in this area, is inventory usually released later -- like 2-3 weeks before the desired date? Thanks.
  7. After using the strategy detailed above, I got the Paramount Hotel for $120 and didn't have to split my stay. Used the sbarn link. One thing that got pretty annoying was after my bidding reached > $110, I kept getting a priceline prompt that told me to wait 15 minutes on whether or not my bid was accepted. This was a real time waster, and forced me to spread some my later bids over a few hours. Thanks for all your help. Now its time for D.C. and Niagara.
  8. Hi Thereuare, If rejected at the 3* level, I will most likely try to bid 2.5* for my complete stay. Then I'll try splitting my stay. If I split my stay, should I single off 3/11, bidding 3/12-3/16 separately since 3/11 is the date with the highest quoted prices?
  9. Okay, my order of preference for a 3* is: 1. MTW 2. UM-CPS 3. MTE 4. MTS 5. UES I'll raise my max bid limit to $130 for a 3*. My order of preference for a 2.5* is: 1. MTW 2. UM-CPS 3. MTE 4. UES and/or UWS I'll raise my max bid limit to $120 for a 2.5* Thanks
  10. Haven't bid MTE yet. Was just low ball bidding at first, in the top areas I wanted to be in. Now that I'm about 5-6 weeks away, I'm ready for a more serious strategy. Thanks for your help. As far as price, would I have better luck bidding in other areas of Manhattan? I was choosing those locations based on proximity to the attractions I wanted to see, but NY is so well connected, that I'd consider other locations as well.
  11. Hi, I'd like to bid on a 4* hotel in Niagara Falls, ONT for 3/19. My max bid is $80. Published rates: Marriot Fallsview - $119 canadian Renaissance - $99 canadian I tried lowballing 4 days ago with the following unsucessful bids: 1. Niagara - $45 2. Niagara + St. Catherine - $55 3. Niagara + St. Catherine + Welland - $60 Thanks.
  12. Hi, I'm trying to bid on a 3* in the Downtown White House or Covention Center area for 3/20 to 3/25. I'd like to try a max limit of $85. I'm willing to split my stay if necessary, but would prefer not to. 4 days ago, I tried low balling with the following unsucessful bids: 1. Convention Center - $65 2. Downtown + Convention Center - $75 Thanks
  13. Hi, I need bidding assistance for a 3* in MTW, UP-CPS or ME for 3/11-3/16. I'm willing to split my stay if necessary and also to raise my max limit to $120. I'm also willing to drop down a level to 2.5 * with a max bid of $100. 4 days ago, I tried the following combinations with no luck: 3* 1. MTW $100 2. New Bid - UM-CPS $100 3. UMCPS + MTW - $110 2.5* 1. UWS - $75 2. UWS + MTW - $80 3. UWS + MTW + UM-CPS - $85 I think the date that will give me the most trouble is Sat 3/11. The posted rates for this date are slightly higher than any of the other dates. If I were to split my dates, should I single off 3/11 and try to bid for it separately from 3/12-3/16? Thanks.
