  1. I went back to My Account and the amenities pertaining to accessibility with description are: Accessible for the blind - Braille or raised signage Accessible for the deaf - TTY for telephone, visual or flashing fire alarm and vibrating alarm clock Accessible path of travel - <amenity names only please... not descriptions> In-room accessibility - Accessible path from the room entrance to the window, the bed and the bathroom; accessible hardware and minimal resistance to open the door; accessible temperature controls and window coverings Accessible bathroom - Raised toilet, hand-held shower and grab bars at the tub and toilet Handicapped parking - Handicap parking available Roll-in shower - Bathroom has a roll-in shower The Cresthill Suites website does not address accessibility and I don't think I would go as far to suggest that all suites have all the accessibility features, e.g. roll-in shower. I trust this answers the question.
  2. Booked the Cresthill Suites, prior to booking I was confident that this would be the property. Showed as Best Value and room counter indicated 6 rooms available, after purchase 5 rooms were shown as available to buy for my dates. For Canadians, purchase can be made in Cdn $'s using Visa and Mastercard only, all other cards trigger US dollar billing. The $54 (US) rate converted to $54.72 (Cdn). The saving here is the 2-3% spread on US conversion. Amenities displayed: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access, Kitchenette, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Accessible path of travel, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking and Roll-in shower.
  3. sluggerkev In the area of Ottawa East, there are 2 possibilities at 3*, the Hampton Inn on Coventry Rd but I don't believe they participate in Hotwire/Priceline programs, I think their occupancy rates are such that they are full many nights. The other property is the Chimo Inn on Joseph Cyr St, they do participate in Priceline and perhaps Hotwire - I think this will be your property. However, the amenities fit both properties.
  4. My view on obtaining a PRICELINE / HOTWIRE hotel in a small community during the summer tourist season is that you will not get the deals as you would in a larger city. The hotels may not have released the availability. I suspect the thinking of the hotel operators is that they prefer not to place their property on the opaque site at a reduced rate; but rather hold out for full tariff through the traditional booking method or the bid prcess. I would suggest this is the case for the 3 towns indicated as well as Sydney and Charlottetown. There is a Travelzoo rate of $99 Cdn at the Liscomb Lodge all summer, this includes buffet breakfast. Keltic Lodge (no breakfast) and Digby Pines (buffet breakfast) is $115.
  5. Your needs are such that you should consider a traditional booking at the Sheraton if you must be downtown, otherwise disappointment may set in.
  6. I just looked at Hotwire for your dates and there is a 3* there for $99/night, the amenities translate to the Hotel Miramar. You should determine prices at a number of 3* hotels for each of your dates and reconsider if you are bidding high enough. Satuday nights are generally high , possibly due to cruise traffic. You may have to break up your bidding into 2 or 3 bids based on low/high hotel rates. Unless you know this, you are bidding blindly. Having said this, and if your week is considered a spring break week, hotels may not have released rooms to Priceline anticipating a sell-out at higher prices. I trust you have a back-up plan.
  7. Since the earlier posting, the Holiday Inn is now a 2* and in serious need of a complete renovation, the Wyndham is now a Doubletree and rated at 2.5* and there are no 3* in the East Sracuse zone. There have been no postings of successful bids in at least 2 - 3 years for the Embassy Suites and possibly no longer participating in the Priceline program although available on the Priceline traditional booking system as a 3*. A new concern is a 2* in the Airport zone (formerly Syracuse North with boundary changes) is that the Budget Inn comes up. This property is your 30 - 40 year old motel that looks 30 - 40 years old and I located an old review, there are none on tripadvisor. I have driven into this property and not impressed. IMO, it would rate less than a 1*. It is possible the inside is better than what the outside looks. Also, if you got this property thinking it was close to the airport, again disappointment if you had to take taxis, probably 8 miles each way and no shuttle. It is in the middle of nowhere on the east side of South Bay Road and north and adjacent to the 481 in the midst of a residential and industrial area.
  8. William W Try for the Renaissance Marx, it comes up as a 3* in University on Priceline and you should get it for $50- $55. They will allow you to park in their garage and they have a shuttle van which will take you to the airport. In any event, please confirm first with hotel about leaving vehicle. There is a Best Western at the airport offering free parking on a traditional booking, but the property is dump, or it was when I stayed there 4 yeras ago.
  9. The hotel is located behind the Holiday Inn at Carrier Circle. We stayed 3 nights from August 31 - Sept. 3/07. At check-in we were pre-assigned room 309. This was a smoking room and it reeked, even a smoker would notice. Back to the desk, the check-in in clerk gave the Hotwie attitude, "You got a good price from Hotwire, you are in a smoking room as requested by Hotwire." This is contrary to the Hotwire terms/conditions. We were given another smoking room, it just stank less. We left the window open. The next day we requested to the front desk that the room be sprayed with deodorizer. It did not occur. The room is equiped for 2 persons with stove, micro and fridge. One could be quite comfortable for an extended period of time. Housekeeping is every 7 days or none if you are there less than 7 days. There is a convenience room with food supplies available for purchase on the honour system. The downside of this property for us was the attitude, you get a Hotwire room and the lack of adequate cleaning to remove cigarette odour in the cleaning of rooms. There is a notice of cooking odours in hallways from different foods cooked in rooms. Will send letter to Candlewoods and email Hotwire re smoking room issue.
  10. 2* Candlewood Suites at Carrier Circle, 6550 Court Street Road, East Syracuse, New York 13057. (On the InterContinental Hotels site, address shows as 6550 BAPTIST WAY, 13057 but is the same property.) August 31 - September 3, 3 nights. $55/night, fees - $27.32, total $192.32. Pleased with property, location good for us. Booked early as State Fair impacts hotel room availability on my dates. Amenities Fitness Laundry Kitchenette HiSpeed Internet Room rate on InterContinental Hotels - $116.10 US + tax Travelocity - $139 Cdn.
  11. Try this service, only good for those with a US addressed credit card or payment drawn in the US - www.buyreservations.com In some cases, the rates for the hotel are great even if you do not use the free 1 - 2 weeks of car parking.
  12. I looked at the 3* for Ottawa using the same dates and a pool icon was shown. This would suggest the Delta. (The Radisson diagonally across from the Delta does not have a pool, but their guests can use the Delta pool). 4* showed a B for Boutique hotel. This would suggest The Arc. Note: The past 2/3 years at Xmas and I think it was the Crown Plaza (1 block from the Delta/Radisson) that had a rate of $49 - 55 Cdn/ night. for about 10 days, e.g. Dec. 21 - 30 and some days after Jan 1. If it is advertised again this year and it may not be till Dec 10 - 15, I will post it.
