  1. Started with $45 for a 3* and received a counter-offer for $58; used free bid zones and restarts to secure the room at $53 - best web price I could find was $79. Not the best deal I've gotten through PRICELINE, but not too bad either. Reviews for the property are favorable, so hopefully it will work out well.
  2. Best internet rate was $82 for prepaid reservation. Not much comparative information on older posts, so tried $47 for 2.5*, 4 nights December 9-13. Apparently, the former Jameson Inn has been bought by Choice Hotels and renamed Quality Inn and the website mentions remodeling.
  3. Previous priceline win for this property still works - PL rejected first bid for 3* room at $48, so I tried the 2.5* at same price - accepted on first try. Internet pricing ranged from $68 for advanced purchase to $99 for standard rate.
  4. Began at $42, received a counter-offer for $56, resubmitted using free bid zones in $2 increments - $46 accepted. Total price for all rooms including taxes and fees $644.16. Lowest internet price I could find was $89 for Advanced prepayment, Regular price $99 per night.
  5. Tried every possible combination last week, up to $76 with no luck. Started with South zone at $76 and received a counter-offer of $91. Re-bid at $80, using Bucksport as a free bid, and it went through. Probably should have raised only a dollar or two, but since the lowest online price I could find was $127 a night, this isn't too bad...
  6. Accepted on first bid 3* at $42, total for room = $56.00 - best price online $99 per night
  7. Tried bids at previously reported rates, but no luck with that. Finally scored at $58 - not too bad... the lowest online rate I could find for the Hyatt Place was $105 .
  8. Looking for a room in/near Halifax, Plymouth and Middleboro came up as closest. Bid accepted on first try... a bit disappointing, might have gotten it for less!
  9. Bid increments from $55-$63 for a 3*, all rejected. Started a new bid for 2.5* in Wilmington, accepted on first try. Cheapest online price I could find was $101, so not a very bad deal at $57
  10. Didn't see any recent posts for this area, so wanted to report information about bids for 3/4-3/8/13 and the following week. First bid to Toms River for 1 room at $48 for a 3*, rejected; added Lakewood and increased bid to $54, which was accepted - total of $258.64. Tried for 3 rooms 3/11-3/14/13, starting with 3* at $48, rejected; added Lakewood at $52, rejected; started a new bid for 2 1/2* at $54 for Toms River, received a counter-offer for $70; added Lakewood at $59, rejected. I'll keep trying for the second week and report back if accepted at anything different than $54.
  11. Tried 3* at $57 for Binghamton and Johnson City at $61, both rejected. Started a new bid for 2 1/2* in Binghamton, received a Counter Offer for $90, added Johnson City at $68, accepted. A little higher than I'd expect, but regular rate for this room is $119, and this bid gets it at about the 1* rate for the area.
  12. Tried for a 3* in Danbury at $55 and $60, both rejected; bid 48 for 2 1/2*, accepted on first try at LaQuinta Inn & Suites - lowest price on internet was $97 per night
  13. Needed rooms Mon-Fri for 3 weeks of business travel; 2 1/2* in the $90-110 range. As there weren't any posts for the area, I assumed that bids weren't very successful there and started a bit higher than usual. First bid of $47 for Orange, TX was rejected. No free bid zones, but Vidor was close by, so tried $52 per night for the first week - bid was accepted by Best Western Plus Orange County. Lowered the bid to $49 for the second week, won the same hotel; third week at $48 for same hotel. weeks of 2/4/13, 2/11/13, 2/18/13 4 nights each
  14. Have tried for 2 weeks to book a room in Arlington-Grand Prairie, but alas, the Rangers must have everything booked up. So, as a last resort (to paying $164 a night for a 2* hotel), I tried DFW South. First try for a 3* at $42 per night, received a counter offer for $56. Continued to use free bid zones until $51 was finally accepted. Cost for 11 nights at 51 = $561, plus $93.17 in taxes and fees for a total of $654.17.
  15. I've been bidding on this area for a week, with no success - started at $57, working through 4* to 2.5*, raising a few dollars each day. This morning Priceline finally accepted an $80 for the single night stay at the Courtyard. A little high for a 2.5*, but the regular rate is $159 per night, so still quite a discount.
  16. Tried $42 per night on the first bid, but that was rejected; re-bid adding Cookstown - Wrightstown - $51 accepted, total with tax for all four nights is $243.80.
  17. Bid accepted on the first try - $11 per day with Avis for almost 2 weeks Subtotal $121.00 Taxes $66.31 Total Charges $187.31 Lowest price I'd been able to find was Thrifty at $117/wk for a total of $203.39; Avis' discounted price for the same period was $163/wk, total of $345.61
  18. Started with a 3* in Burlington at 42 - it was rejected, so I added Montpelier-Barre as free bid zone and raised bid to $51, still no luck. Changed to 2.5*, bid $42 for Burlington, received a counter-offer for $54; added Montpelier-Barre at $49, and it was accepted. Posted rates for room ranged from $77 per night for advance purchase, to $85. Comfort Suites south Burlington Room Subtotal $539.00 Taxes $73.15 Total $612.15
  19. Accepted on first try - 7 days rental at $12 per day for a Compact car with Avis, plus taxes and fees of $42.62, for a total of $126.62.
  20. This was the second of two reservations made on the same day - first week 8/1-8/5/11 finally won with a bid of $51, second week 8/8-8/12/11 success at $48 per night on first try for Cary North. Please be aware that there is some confusion about the location of this hotel. Several links show it to be northeast of actual location, more in the Research Triangle area; search of the actual address puts it just south of the 440/40 interchange - where it should be.
  21. $51 per night 8/1-8/5/11 $48 per night 8/8-8/12/11 Using prior posts as a guideline, I started at $46 for Cary North, received a counter-offer for $57, added Raleigh South at $48 - rejected, added Wake Forest and raised to $51 - bid was accepted. Needed another reservation for the next week, so started at $48 for Cary North, bid accepted the first time. Please be aware that there is some confusion about the location of this hotel. Several links show it to be northeast of actual location, more in the Research Triangle area; search of the actual address puts it just south of the 440/40 interchange - where it should be.
  22. First bid for $53 - based on previous entries fro 2009; counter-offer for $68, added Hagerstown and raised bid to $60 - accepted.
  23. Need a room for 4 nights, 2 different weeks... tried 3* with all possible free bids, starting at $65 increasing up to $74 - no luck; 2.5* for the first week rejected at $59, but with a counter-offer for $74 - so tried second week at $67 and it worked. Cheapest website price for same room was $84.
  24. Courtyard at Ewing Hopewell - not too much out there to compare in Trenton area; regular rate is $134 per night $60 per night; $240 + 45.44 = Total $285.44 Bidding information: started at 3.5* $43, increased to $48 and added Cook, increased to $53 and added Mount Holly - all rejected 3* at $42, $48 plus Cook, $53 with Mount Holly - all rejected 2.5* at $51, received counter offer for + $15, added Cook at $56, finally accepted at $60 when I added Mount Holly.
  25. Needed to get a room near Kensington - tried Washington DC area first, concentrating on Bethesda and Silver Springs. No luck up to $63 for a 2 1/2*, even with careful use of free bids. Switched over to Maryland Suburbs, tried 3 1/2* first at $61, rejected; 3* at $61 was accepted at the Legacy Hotel - regular rate is $161.
