  1. I'd tried 3* rooms in increments up to $77, then switched to 2 1/2*. After reading various posts, I was concerned that the prices had gone up considerably, so started higher than normal at $52. That bid was rejected, so I tried again at $56. It was accepted at Mainstay Suites - total for four nights $224.00 + 47.84 in fees = $271.84. Seems a bit pricey to me, although regular cost for the room is $85 per night; and I'm a bit surprised that Mainstay Suites is considered a 2 1/2* - I'd expected something more along the lines of a Holiday Inn, Hampton, etc.
  2. I needed a room in the vicinity of Irwin for next week, but bids to the area were not successful. It appeared that the only nice hotel at Irwin was the Holiday Inn Express, with least expensive rate of $120 per night. Latrobe is only 8 miles away and it looks like the Springhill may be a much nicer hotel. Bid Friday morning for $51 was rejected, with a counter-offer of $68. I tried $60 this morning and it was accepted; taxes of $34, for a total of $274 for the 4 nights. Lowest published price I could find for the hotel was $114 per night.
  3. One room for four nights @ $62 per night, taxes and fees $49.52, total $290.52. Lowest internet price I found for the Courtyard was $130 per night.
  4. I needed a 3.5* in this area to gain a shuttle to DFW on Saturday morning, and have been trying for 3 weeks to get a room - starting at $46 with incremental bids up to $77. This morning I started with $46, received a counter-offer for +$9, rebid at $49 and it was accepted. Then, I made a second reservation for two rooms, 4 nights each 12/8-12/12, same hotel at $48 per night.
  5. I've been trying to get a 3.5* room in this area for 3 weeks, starting at $46-49 per night, which is average for the Sheraton - no luck up to $77 per night. But, this morning it worked! Two rooms, December 8th - 12th, at $48 per night, taxes $69.76, for a total of $453.76.
  6. No luck on 3 1/2* or 3*, this 2 1/2* was accepted on first bid - I need another room for the next week, so hopefully, will be able to get it for less.
  7. The winning bid was for a 3* room 11/3-11/7/14 at the Farmington Inn & Suites for $76.00 per night, taxes of $58.00, for a total of $362.00.
  8. 4 nights, October 13-17th - $67 per night, taxes and fees $51.80 = $319.80 total
  9. There aren't many hotels in this area, and looking for a room deal in the northeast at this time of year is probably ridiculous - but, we have business in the area for two separate weeks, so... The least expensive room I've found with decent reviews is the Inn at Finger Lakes - a 2* for $95. I tried for a 2 1/2 * for the first week, thinking it might be the Holiday Inn, with no luck up to $69. So, this morning I tried a 3* for the second week - started at $81, increased by $2-3 increments until a bid for $89 was accepted. Hotel is the Holiday Inn Fingerlakes in Auburn, NY, room subtotal $356, taxes $47.08, fees $17.28, for a total of $420.36; prices on websites ranges from $145-189 per night. No luck yet on the first week of 10/6 - 10/10/14, but will post the results if anything comes through - rooms for that week seem to be even higher than 10/13-10/17
  10. Sorry, I thought the information posted. The room was in Houghton, Michigan - no other city information. There are several other areas: Hancock, Calumet, Ontonagon, Iron River, and Ishpeming.
  11. Lowest internet price I could find for this hotel was $116 per night.
  12. I usually get rooms in the Cleveland area much cheaper, but something may be going on the week of 8/11 - have been trying all combinations for a 2 1/2* - 3* room not too far from Parma. On my final bidding combination before I started over (again) with 2 1/2* - something finally went through this afternoon - Radisson Hotel, 4 nights at $68 per night, plus tax/fees of $55.80, for a total of $327.80. Lowest rate for the hotel on other sites was $120 per night, and $68 is still less than 2 1/2* hotels in the area.
  13. I saw only one post for this area, from last year, so wanted to provide some newer information. No free bid zones here - only the single area with 3, 2 1/2, 2 and 1* rooms. I began with a bid of $46 for 3*, but it was so quickly rejected that I rebid on 2 1/2* at $51, which was accepted - 4 nights, 8/11-8/15/14 - total with tax = $237.64
  14. I couldn't find any recent posts for this area, so wanted to let everyone know the results... 4 nights in Nampa, ID - 2 1/2* room were priced $101 for the Hampton, $114 for the Fairfield and $132 for Holiday Inn Express. "Average" room price displayed on Price.line was $130, so I put out an initial bid of $61, which was accepted on the first try. Sub-total for room 244.00, taxes and fees 40.88, total $284.88.
  15. Lowest advertised rate was $101 per night - this ended up as four nights at $54, plus tax of $46.52, for a total of $262.52
  16. I was surprised to get this hotel as a 2 1/2* - most sites have it rated as a 2*. Cost was a little higher than I would have liked, but this being "beach season", even the 1* hotels are ridiculous at this time of year. Four nights at $79, plus tax of $59.88, for a total of $375.88. Most of the reviews are complimentary, so I hope they are accurate.
  17. I started a week ago at $51 per night and have been raising in small increments - everything rejected, although I did get one counter-offer for $89. I'd finally worked my way up to $81, and was just about ready to book a lesser hotel through another site when this went through. Four nights at $81, tax of $57.12, for a total of $381.12. Price for this hotel on other sites is $119 per night plus tax.
  18. Didn't see any postings for this, so thought I should add the information... Kyle is just north of San Marcos, and not quite half way to Austin, so most people probably bypass it and stay in one of the larger (more interesting) cities. However, we have a customer there, so needed a room for the tech to stay for the week. I started out at $45, received a counter-offer for $59, rebid using Lockhart as a free bid at $52 - it was accepted. Room $208 + $25.64 taxes = $233.64 total.
  19. Tried to get it cheaper, but had to go all the way to the amount posted by the last win. 2 nights at $64, plus taxes of $30.18, for a total of $158.18.
  20. Not a great price - choicehotels.com lists the room for $78 prepaid and $97 for regular booking - but every little bit helps. I'd started at $58 and progressed up over the past week, without receiving any counter-offers.
  21. Terribly high at $81, but I've been trying every combination for a week, and lowest internet price for a room is $104
  22. It took several days of trying, but finally got 2.5* room at the Fairfield for $81, after previously rejecting up to $76 with a counter-offer of $90. A bit pricey, but internet rate for the same room is $129 per night.
  23. I think everyone must be heading to Florida to escape the cold weather - have been trying for several days with no luck, but finally scored a room this morning. When all 3* combinations bombed out, I put in this bid at $80, which was barely higher than previously rejected bids. Bid was accepted at the first try, so don't know if I could have saved a few dollars by lowering the bid or not. However, considering that the lowest online price I could find for the Hampton Inn was $169 per night, $80 doesn't sound too bad; and the reviews are very complimentary.
  24. Tried several combinations of free bids to finally secure a room for tonight, and ended up with Springhill Suites at $52, $5 less than PL counteroffer - best online price was $119 per night
