Just wanted to update my post.I had kind of given up on getting a good price on Priceline so I hadn't checked for quite awhile.Just on a whim before I went to bed lastnight I went to try and bid on a car on Priceline again.Not even thinking I would be successful since I usually am not I bid $15.00 for an economy car and was accepted the first try.Usually I get rejected over and over.I was surprised to say the least.Now I wonder if I should have bid lower the first time. Here are the details: Your Offer Price: $15.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 22 days Subtotal: $330.00 Taxes and Fees: $134.89 Total Charges: $464.89 Lowest Published Price: $1336.97 Total Savings:* $872.08 (You saved 65%) Thanks for all the replies and keep up the good work.This is a Great Site !!!

I have to aplogize but I just saw that I made a mistake on the drop off date by one day.The correct dates and times should be Picking up Oct.17th at 4:00 P.M. and returning Nov.8th. at 4:00 P.M. I should have double checked my post before posting. I am sorry for the mistake.

I tried it again and still got $564.08 after taxes and fees. I put the Delta Skymiles code in the BCD box. What am I doing wrong???

The Car Rental Rate Checker weekly rate was $131.00 a week minus taxes and fees plus the 1 extra day @ $24.95 The HOTWIRE price was $21.99 a day.

Szymon: I used the Delta Skymiles code you mentioned and for an economy car the price was $564.08 I don't know why it was higher than the price you got.

I bid $15.00 for an economy car. The best price on HOTWIRE was $628.72 and the best price on Car Rental Rate Checker was $580.05. The best rate when calling all the well known rental car agencies was Budget at $564.08.

Trying to find the cheapest car rental for Tampa airport.Picking up Oct.17th at 4:00 P.M. and returning Nov.7th Nov.8th at 4:00 P.M.I tried bidding on Priceline and this is what the response was: Unfortunately, our Name Your Own Price service was unable to locate an available rental car for the area and dates you selected. They didn't say anything about my bid being to low just that they were unable to locate an available rental car for the area and dates I selected.I was surprised that they were unable to locate a car for the location and times I needed it.Maybe I am still to far out to bid right now. Any suggestions?? Thanks

Called Thrifty and Dollar tonight.Thrifty quoted $478.65 with a Sams Club discount.Dollar quoted $464.10 with no discount.I asked her if they took Sams Club,AAA or Cosco.She said they used to take AAA but didn't anymore.She said she couldn't tell me what they accepted for discounts.Kinda like I had to guess until I hit on something.If I could find out what they accept I could save a little more I'm sure.I went ahead and reserved both for back-ups just in case.I will keep you posted on my progress. Hello: This site has been a great help to me in the past so I am going to try this again.I need the cheapest car rental at Tampa airport or nearby.Will need it for 3 weeks.What's the best strategy I should try?? Here is what I found out so far.With the car rental checker the price was $127.00 a week or $507.00 total. With hotwire it was $18.33 a day or $536.73 total. Thanks in advance.

syzmon: Thanks so much for your help.I used the BCD code you gave me and I reserved an economy car for $407.47 for a total of 21 days. Will I have to show some kind of proof of where I got the BCD code when I pick the car up,and if so where can I tell them I got it?? Thanks Kevin

Tried again today and here's Priceline's response: We're sorry, but your offer price of $16.00 per day for a Economy Car was not accepted.

Szymon: Signed up for AAdvantage and when I tried to use the code they gave me for a rental car it says it's not recognized.

Man that is a great price.I have bid up to $17.00 a day for a compact and was turned down by Priceline.I would say you got a heck of a deal. :)

Reserved an economy car for $431.94 for Oct. 18th through Nov. 5th.This was straight from Budget.I could never get a better price through Pricline.
