  1. The lowest published rate for this room was $109.00 a night for 8/15 to 8/16. Started my bidding at $60.00, rejected but was told that if I bid $79.00 I would have a much better chance for a win. Ignored this screen. Next bid was $63.00, rejected, Next bid was $66.00, rejected, Next bid was $69.00 -- BINGO Room Subtotal: $69.00 Trip Protection: $5.00 Taxes & Fees: $16.68 Total Charged Today: $90.68 (For this trip, it was worth the $5.00 for trip protection.....) Now, I can extend this rate for another night at the same price, but I am wondering if I should wait and see if I can get it at a cheaper rate in 24 hours. Thoughts? Also open to ideas and thoughts on my bidding strategy, maybe I should have bid in one or two dollar increments? Only bummer is that the price has gone up from $10.00 to $15.00 per night for parking, but this is a great hotel. Of course, used the BB PRICELINE link........
  2. Just to satisfy my curiousity..... Do you think I might have been able to get this room for a lower price if I waited and bid closer to the check-in date? Thanks everyone for the feedback and assistance.
  3. Well, I looked at all of my options. I just did not like any of the deals I could get at a 3*, and the Baymont Hotel Hotwire deal was not appealing. Poor reviews for that place. So, I started bidding. 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 83, 86, 90, 93, and then $95.00 hit the jackpot! (I have stayed here before, and love this hotel) US$ 95.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: US$ 95.00 Taxes & Fees: US$ 22.69 Total: US$ 117.69 Website lowest price: $199.00, before taxes and fees. Thought I might definitely get the Doubletree Hotel, since Priceline express was offering a room for $109.00 before taxes and fees. [ +++I have to admit, I wonder if I waited even longer if I could have gotten a better deal! :-) +++ ]
  4. From Hotwire: 3* FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Business Center, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower. $53.00 per night (My guess is Baymont) ***** From Priceline.Express: 3.5* Bradley International Airport (BDL) Rated 8.0 out of 10 (or higher) Indoor or Outdoor Pool Pets Allowed Restaurant Fitness Center Airport Shuttle Business Center $109 per night (My guess is Doubletree Hotel)
  5. Hot.wire is showing a 3* in the BDL zone for $53.00 -- I think it is the Baymont Inn & Suites. Doesn't appear in the Priceline BDL listings... Open to suggestions.... :-) It's just the day before a very early flight.
  6. Thanks. Both 3.5 properties that usually win on Price.line are near full occupancy for those dates. I bid on a 3*, started at $50.00, increased each bid by $3.00, and the last bid I increased by $5.00 . 5 re-bid zones. Used the BB PRICELINE link. No win, yet.
  7. "I'll also add that at current rates i don't think your bids (which are about a third of prevailing rates) are realistic... at the moment you'll more likely need to be in the $80-$100 area for a 3.5* property. Lastly, remember that besides going down, rate can go up as well. I don't think it's likely that rates are as low as $65 for these dates, but let's assume that a hotel was available at this rate today but it's pulled from inventory or the rate goes up tomorrow... you miss out on the deal because you're bidding in $1 increments. If you were successful at $70 (or even $80 or $90) for a hotel that is otherwise selling for $150+, i'd think that would still be a very nice deal. I recommend trying to focus on the $10's in savings rather than the $1's you may potentially leave on the table if you were to bid in $3-$5 increments (especially for a one nite stay)." I have won this hotel before with a bid of $65.00 before taxes and fees. That's the max my budget allows, or I will go down to a 3* If I could get some help with permutations, (how to calculate and bid with them) I would have many more bids available to me. Thanks.
  8. Bidding on a 3 1/2 star hotel at BDL. 08/11/14 - 08/12/14 Have 12 rebid zones. Started at $50.00, increased each bid by one dollar. Last bid I increased by two dollars, so I bid $62.00. I did not win, yet. :-) Have a few days. Would like some help on permutations, so I can do many more bids. Current rack rate is $199.00 a night at the Bradley Sheraton and the rate at the Hilton Doubletree is $151.00 Thanks.
  9. Understood. But I think my odds are pretty good that I would win that property, since nothing else has shown up in quite some time. I honestly don't think a win, with Price.line taxes and fees is going to come in under $215.00
  10. My back up is in the heart of the fan, a wonderful place to be. No real hotels or motels near by, except sketchy ones that I don't really care for. This is a far better deal than Linden Row Inn, as I have a complete kitchen to myself. It's basically my own apartment for three days. I would bid on 3* Springhill Suites in Glen Allen if I could come in way under $215.00 TOTAL. Do you think this is possible? As always, thanks for the help.
  11. 63.00 According to your site, the only 3* in Glen Allen that has SHOWN UP is SpringHill Suites. I've also seen that a possible win could be Courtyard Richmond North/Glen Allen. I would prefer SpringHill Suites. I can get a nice B&B in the fan area of Richmond for three nights with breakfast at $215.00 out the door. Thanks !!
  12. Stay: Check in Tuesday, August 12th, check out Friday, August 15th. Was trying for a four star in Glen Allen or Richmond West End. 10 free rebid zones. Understand the re-bidding process, but need assistance with permutations, which allow many more rebids than 10. Would be willing to accept 3* Richmond (Glen Allen) Springhill Suites Richmond Virginia Center if I could get it for under $55.00 a night. Thanks.
  13. Had 10 rebid zones. Started at $40.00, increased by two dollars each time. Last bid was $63.00, and I did not win. Suggestions? Not quite sure how to do permutations. I have two weeks before this trip, so I have time.... Thanks.
  14. Americana Hotel: 1400 Jefferson Davis Highway Arlington, Virginia 22202 United States I chose the Deluxe Queen, non-smoking. Deluxe rooms have been recently renovated, have brand new beds, and cost ten dollars more a night. $85.00 a night includes free wi-fi, parking,(I won't have a car, but others might) -- Hotel shuttle to and from DCA and Metro, and a Continental breakfast. Generally good reviews on Travelocity and other sites. Total Room: $255.00 Total Tax: $ 33.15 ------------------------ Total: $288.15
  15. I have looked over the winning Price.line bids for the area, and they have been higher than I can afford. Therefore, I have decided to stay in a hotel in Arlington VA, right near a Metro stop. After all taxes, etc. it's $96.05 a night, out the door, and this is for a 'Deluxe" room. I don't know if it is against the rules to list the hotel name, so I won't. Thanks!
  16. Is it too early to bid via Price.line for hotel rooms in the Washington DC area for a mid August visit? Thanks in advance.
  17. Great.....but when you click on "Hartford - East Hartford," the hotel listed should say "Holiday Inn Hartford East". This will alert your users that the hotel is located in East Hartford. Thank you.
  18. Please note that East Hartford is not its own separate zone anymore on Priceline. Priceline has changed the zone to read: "Hartford-East Hartford." This is sad news, because East Hartford has a new Holiday Inn, (formerly the Hartford Plaza Hotel). I'm not sure of the new Holiday Inn's star rating.
  19. Followed your directions to the "T" except on the last bid, I threw in $3.00 more and bid $58.00 No luck. I'm going to use some loyalty points and book a room in Manchester/Vernon. One question, when you say close your browser -- can I just close the "Priceline Tab" on my browser, keeping Better Bidding open, or do I have to completely close the browser, re-open your site, and then find the PRICELINE link on BB. (I did the latter). Thanks again for your help.....I just can't go higher then $75.00, (including taxes and fees.)
  20. $55.00 Max before tax/fee Zones I would stay in, 3* minimum: Avon, Farmington, Manchester/Vernon, Rocky Hill Area I have bid successfully several times using the rebid process of choosing zones that have lower star ratings......I am a bit confused about how to bid using permutations. Sorry, I forgot to add available rebid zones: Hartford South, 2.5 Meriden North, 2.5 Middletown, 2 New Britain, 2.5 Newington, 2.5 Southington, 2.5 Also, should I wait until as late as possible on Friday? Or, do you think my chances would be the same no matter what time I bid on Friday? Thanks!
  21. $55.00 Max before tax/fee Zones I would stay in, 3* minimum: Avon, Farmington, Manchester/Vernon, Rocky Hill I have bid successfully several times using the rebid process of choosing zones that have lower star ratings......I am a bit confused about how to bid using permutations. Thanks !
  22. Actually, I went as high as 62.00 and was not successful. I wanted to take advantage of the $7.00 bonus money opportunity -- I even added a few zones for consideration, Cromwell and Rocky Hill. Will try again tomorrow, would appreciate any assistance you can provide.
  23. I need some help. There are two zones I would be happy to stay in -- Manchester/Vernon 3* Farmington 3* I would like to try Permutation bidding, but don't quite know how to do it with two zones. Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks.
