  1. Began bidding at $55 several days ago -- Tonight I received a $77 counteroffer at $60 but ignored it and tried $65 without success. I was out of free rebids but I lowered to 2.5* hoping for an upgrade and that's what I got. This is a nice property that is connected to the terminal, perfect for my flight out the next AM. Rack rate is $139 for this night so I saved 50%. Used the savingsbarn link -- thanks betterbidding!
  2. I am only looking for Saturday night the 29th, with a flight out Sunday morning I'm focusing on the PHL airport zone. When I bid $60 for 3* in that zone I get a $17 counteroffer, leading me to suspect that rooms are available in the low $70 range. There is a convenient train to downtown from the airport. Not as convenient as being there already, but.... Edited to add: I just took my own advice and bid $70 -- got the Airport Marriott for the night of the 29th. Very convenient to the train, and I'll just walk across the bridge to the terminal to catch my flight in the morning. I'll report the win in a new thread.
  3. It's been years since I've stayed there, so I can't speak to the rooms, but the Tremont properties are in downtown Baltimore, which is as safe as any other downtown I've been to. Any neighborhood is potentially bad if you're not paying attention. I don't know a single woman who has had a purse snatched on an urban street but know of several who've had it grabbed in a mall parking lot. Enjoy your trip and stay safe!
  4. I bid in $1 increments, so this is the lowest available bid for this night. Used the savingsbarn link. Baltimore rates seem to be high in general this fall (rack for this property is $188 for my night) so I didn't see any point in waiting until the week of travel and possibly having no priceline inventory.
  5. Total $127.80 for 5 days -- Priceline bids of $13 and $15 (worked out to 112 and 125 total) were rejected for these dates. Used the Savingsbarn link.
  6. I started bidding at $41 for just the night of August 24. When that was rejected I raised to $46 which was accepted on 8/13 (ten days before my stay). I added the night of the 23rd using Priceline's extend your stay feature. Used the savingsbarn link Thanks!
  7. This is 1/3 of the conference rate for these dates. Hotwire seems to have the same property for $69 a night, so betterbidding and priceline saved me a boatload any way you look at it. I used the savingsbarn link to bid. Thanks betterbidding!
  8. This was my second PL rental of the weekend as my stay was extended and I made a same-day bid. Hotwire was showing $21 for midsize so I went $5 lower on PL and was accepted immediately. At the Hertz counter, the agent said they were out of midsizes and tried to "upgrade" me to a gas-guzzling SUV but I told them that wasn't an upgrade and pitched a small fit. Darned if they didn't find a midsize after all - there was a whole row of them in the #1 Gold aisle. My first rental was a Toyota Corolla stripped to the bare minimum -- no cruise control or power seats or remote control on the keyring. The second rental of the weekend was also a Corolla, but tricked out with power everything and MUCH more comfortable. I guess Hertz now has a barebones Priceline fleet. Interesting.
  9. This was a same-day bid, which I started after the 11 AM cutoff to extend my stay. I was bidding for 2.5* in the airport zone, starting at $41, and was upgraded to the 3 * Hilton when my bid reached $61. Used the savingsbarn link -- thanks BetterBidding!
  10. Price provided on a hotel confirmation screen, so I didn't have to think about it. Used the savingsbarn link to make the hotel bid. Thanks BB!
  11. Started bidding at $41, received an immediate $53 counter. Used the savingsbarn link. Thanks betterbidding!
  12. Started bidding at $56, hoping for the Airport zone. One of the free rebids for 3* in Philladelphia (Stadium Zone) is gone, so I added downtown after only 2 bids. Used the savingsbarn link. Thanks BB.
  13. Started bidding at $41 through the savingsbarn.com link, to which I received a $53 counteroffer. 45, 46 rejected, 50 accepted.
  14. I have gotten the 3* Sheraton City Center (former Wyndham) for $61 recently. Check the hotel website for pricing and availability, the next time I tried it was sold out.
  15. It's a good idea to check pricing/availability at a few hotels in the target zone before bidding. Not so much "just for kicks" as to be able to make a bidding strategy that is likely to succeed. On other note, I have had PL success in extremely tight cities with a lot of sellouts, within 48 hours of my stay. Book a cancellable room and keep bidding every 24 hours within your budget.
  16. The problem with using the "too low" message to start bidding is that it is NOT related to the available room inventory or prices. If research into rack rates and other peoples' bidding history doesn't give you a starting bid amount (such as small cities without much bid history), I suppose the message can be used. I have found using 35% of the lowest rack rate as a starting bid can often get a rate BELOW where the warning message appears. It all depends if you want to spend the time doing the rate research.
  17. The reason I say to ignore the message is that it is not related to the available pricing. You may be bidding too low and wasting time and available bids by using the message as your indicator, or you may be overbidding with rooms available BELOW where the message appears. Do your research by checking hotel rates and winning bids.
  18. The HOTWIRE link to support this site is at the top of the page. I believe going to Priceline through SavingsBarn.com will do.
  19. EasyClickTravel has the Times Square Hilton at $326.
  20. EasyClickTravel has the Times Square Hilton at $326. Could be your backup as you see what inventory arrives during the week.
  21. Here is the instructions on how to use free rebid zones.
  22. Ignore that message. I have gotten many winning bids by continuing after the warning message, and had many bids fail when the message did not appear. It is just a sales tool -- Priceline wants you to spend more money on the hotel rooms.
  23. Could fit either Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn -- without your travel dates and price I haven't been able to spot the property in a HW package.
  24. I have gotten the same result by clicking "Hotels" from the bid denial window, which gets me a new hotel search screen with my city and dates already filled in and the Name Your Own Price icon to click.
  25. You can edit the title yourself using the edit button at the bottom of the post. Thereuare is out of town just now, so it might be a long wait for someone else to make the change if you don't want to do it yourself.
