  1. Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business I have stayed here several times and have always enjoyed it. Good Tube and Paddington Station access. On the Hilton website the lowest rate for those dates was $276.00, so a good deal!
  2. I have been bidding every two days for a 4* in Sydney September 10-14, 2007. I started around $77.00 and last bid of $81.00 was rejected. Has anyone had success in Sydney around this time and for what bid? I would do 3*, but I am afraid of getting the Holiday Inn Potts Point. GREAT hotel (I have stayed there often) but a bit too far out of the center of town for this trip. Thanks
  3. I did several bids of $75.00 in San Francisco E and W. Finally did $71.00 for 3* and obtained the Crowne Plaza on Sutter St. Total price with fees and taxes wsa $88.00. On their website the lowest rate without taxes ws $204.00.
  4. I bid $57.00 for a 4*, not accpeted. Rebid for a 3* and I received the Radisson at O'Hare. With taxes and fees it was about $70.00 per night. I went to the website and the least expensive was $90.00 per night plus taxes. Has anyone stayed at this hotel? Is it close to the subway? Restuarants?
  5. The dates are July 5-7, 2007. This was not my first bid, but about my fourth.
  6. I have been trying to bid on a 4* for several days. No luck. So I went to a 3* and a bid of $130.00 was accepted at the City Hotel near the Aldgate East Tube station. I went to the website and they had a price of almsot $300.00 so it was a good deal over the website. The pictures are not too "promising". Has anyone heard/stayed in this hotel? Thanks
  7. I am looking for July 5-7, I have a Hotwire reservation for July 7-9 for $120.00 at the London Crowne Plaza. But the same hotel for July 5-7 with Hotwire is $235.00.
  8. I have been trying to find a 3 or 4 * hotel in any part of London for July. I have bid $125.00 and not found anything. I have never seen rates so high. Is anyone having luck with July in London? Thanks

  10. I agree with you about never knowing when is best to purchase. We hope the price goes down, and sometimes it does, but so often goes up. You never know. So as you say, when it looks good grab it. I have found this site so very helpful on getting a sense of what the price can be.
  11. I checked in here and saw someone else had received the Crowne Plaza. I tried the dates 7/5-7/9 and the price was out of sight. So I put in just the weekend and found it for $99.00 (With tax, etc, about $120.00). bought it. Went to their website and it was $400.00 plus tax!!!! What a savings. Now I just have to find some place to sleep 7/5-7/7. The weekdays prices are outrageous!!! Very happpy with my results. It is better at times to split the stay. It means lugging luggagge, but it is worth the price. Anyone stayed here before? I think it is near Black Friars Tube station?
  12. I entered the bid (through Savingbarn) and it was accepted for $76.00 per night, for a total of $182.00 including taxes and fees. I went online to the hotel website and the lowest price including taxes was $326.00 for the same dates. A great deal! I know this is on Powell and Califronia, so some hill climbing is in store.
  13. I had to do several bids by rebidding different zones to get a decent price. I finally bid Bloomsbury and Regents Park for $98.00. I got the London Marriott Hotel Maida Vale. The total with fees and taxes was $123.14. I went to the Marriott website and the same AAA rate for this hotel with taxes was $266.00, so it was a great deal. It was a lot less then anything offered on Hotwire. It is a bit out of the area I wanted, but I cannot complain about the price. Has anyone stayed here? I know it is on the Bakerloo Line near the Kilburn Tube station. Is it easy to find from the Tube station?
  14. I had booked a Hilton Hotel in London for $81.00. My plans changed and I wanted to add one more night, the night before I was to check in. It had the offer in the reservation so thought I would get it without aa problem. I changed my plane tickets at a fee, then went back to Priceline to add the one night before. It said, as always, to add a night at the same price. When I went to do it it told me no rooms were available at that rate but offered to showe other rates. The rate went from three nights at $81.00 to the extra night at $325.00. WOW!!!! I was shocked. If they cannot offer it at the same rate, why tell you to go ahead and try it? Fo many find this is the problem? Since I had to pay a fee to change my plance ticket, this has become a very expensive one night!
  15. I bid $81.00 and it was accepted. With fess and taxes it comes to around $100.00 per night, very good for London. I went to the Hilton website and the least expensive room for those dates was $107.00, but that is BEFORE taxes. Another great deal from Priceline. I also checked Hotwire and they did not have any hotels near the $81.00 price.
  16. Bid $65.00, rejected bid $71.00 and was accepted. Sheraton website was $209.00 per night. Add taxes and fees to both bids. GREAT DEAL!
  17. As to spending the savings, that will not be difficult in London!
  18. I did a bid of $85.00 For Bloomsbury-Marble Arch. Not accepted. I added Rgents Park-Baker St. and that was aceepted for the HiltonMetropole. Total cost for four nights is US$410.69 (about $102.00 per night) I went to the Hilton website and the same hotel/dates was $230.00 per night, plus tax. INCREDIBLE SAVINGS! Hotwire had the same hotel for about $125.00 per night. I used Savingsbarn.com
  19. I presumed this was the Holiday Inn since most often when it is this star level and area it is the Holiday Inn Forum. I have stayed there many, many times and enjoy it. Good location.
  20. The total cost came to $91.25. It really was only a few dollars less then booking on website. I had tried lower bids, but not accepted. Not much of a savings with this one, and from what I have read of the hotel, no great deal. Seems the rooms are rather small. Anyone stayed there?
  21. I bid $71.00 and received the Hilton Financial District. Never stayed there before. Total: $88.88. On the website it was $116.72.
  22. This distinctive establishment offers comfortable rooms, personal service and some upscale features. See hotel details * Fitness Center * Restaurant(s) * Business Center Area details: Shop at world-famous Harrods, stroll past Kensington Palace or spend the day at top museums. See area map 3.5 stars silkHotPrice0:$89 per room per night I have stayed at this hotel many times and it is great!
  23. Bid: $48.00 2 Nights Tax/Service: $21.81 Total: 117.81 Lowest Website Total: $232.70 Savings: $114.89 Very happy!
  24. I made the bid on 4-9-06 for $85.00 and received the Novotel Euston. I have stayed there before and it is very nice. It is half of the website price. The total for 4 nights is $410.99. I am very pleased!
