  1. I won this bid in Sydney on 7/18/2006, four days before check in. I had been bidding for a couple weeks, starting at $70 and increasing $5 every day. I was declined at $125 and counter-offered with an increase of $22. I waited until my 24 hours were up and then increased my bid by $11 and won the Marriott Sydney Harbour at $136. I am trying to remember what their web site listed rooms at, I think it was around $240. I was very happy with this hotel, perfect location and great service. They offered us an upgrade to their larger executive rooms on the higher level, and gave us a Sydney bridge view. The upgrade cost $75 US per night and included a nice breakfast in their executive lounge, soft drinks and coffee all day, heavy appetizers and full bar from 5:30-9:30 PM every evening. Depending on how much you used it, it was probably worth the money. We would easily spend $75 a day for the two of us on breakfast, drinks, and appetizers. I was unable to use the SB link for this bid. I was already in Australia when I was bidding and I couldn't get the link to work. Sorry, I did try though.
  2. OK, I will use your HOTWIRE link from now on. Do you have a PRICELINE link as well? I was in Sydney, Australia last week and used PL for a hotel there, but I was unable to get the SB link to work. I'm not sure if it was because I was in Australia at the time. I haven't posted that win yet, but I will!
  3. Customer Favorite, Amenities include: resort, fitness center, restaurant(s), golf nearby, spa services, beachfront, pool(s), business center, tennis nearby, child activity program. I had been bidding on Priceline for the same area up to $180 without success. So I decided to use Hotwire and have a good chance of knowing what I was getting. I thought with the Hotwire price of $188 I would be able to get it for less than $180 on Priceline, but not this time. I still thought prices were a bit high for these dates. There is a big concert in Honolulu on Dec. 9th, U2 and Pearl Jam. Lots of people going over for that...including me! Now I need to get my room on Maui for 12/10-12/14.....I'll let you know how I do. PS...used the SB link.
  4. I don't see this hotel on your Priceline hotels won lists..?
  5. Denied at $180 for a 4* City Centre Amsterdam yesterday, countered at $358.
  6. Denied at $155 for a 4* City Centre Amsterdam yesterday.
  7. The strange thing is that I won the Renaissance for May 14th for $105; but the 9th-12th are much harder to get. I am willing to pay up to $400 for a 4* if I have to, I just want to get the best possible deal I can. Looks like the Crowne Plaza may be the best deal for my dates.
  8. WillTravel - Thanks for the response. I have also heard the 50% rule, however I have never seen this hotel (or any other in the area) won at the $200 mark. So I am wondering if they just don't release inventory to Priceline when their rates get that high. I have been checking many direct hotel websites, as well as Expedia, etc. I am thinking of booking a cancelable rate at the Crowne Plaza. Then I can keep trying for a bargain on Priceline until I leave. Maybe I will bid up to $200 and see what happens. rapazfreiburg- I appreciate your response. I went to the website for the Crowne Plaza(through the link) and I am booking the more expensive but cancelable rate. Have you ever stayed here? Seems like the location can't be beat.
  9. I have been bidding on a 4* City Centre Amsterdam for May 9-12, 2006. I have been bidding for weeks now and been rejected up to $141. Hotwire has a 5* for $385 and a 4* for $405 for those dates in the city centre. The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel has rates of $404 right now, although they have been fluctuating. This is the hotel I won for $105 for one night, May 14th. Any ideas or advice? I don't wish to split my dates since I am already moving twice in the week. I will pay the higher rates if I have no other options to stay in the city in a 4* or better. Do you think Priceline has any inventory and how high do you think I will need to bid? Thank you.
  10. I just checked and I won this hotel on 3/31, so it was about 20 days ahead of my stay.
  11. Previous bid of $70 was rejected, added a free re-bid and won the Westin at $73. I have always enjoyed this hotel. Used the SavingsBarn.com link.
  12. I had bid up to $125 with no success one week prior to winning this at $105. My last bid that was rejected was $95 before adding a free re-bid zone and getting the Hyatt at $105. There was a huge convention here during these dates. Used the SavingsBarn.com link.
  13. Got this on the first bid, I hate it when that happens! I was expecting to have to go higher thinking I was going to get the Grand Hyatt as I have in the past. Westin's website has this this night for $199. Used the SavingsBarn.com link.
  14. Thank you, that sounds like it will work great. I really appreciate your help.
  15. Sorry for the late reply, I am in a remote part of Tulum with limited access to the internet. Regarding my splitting my bid, I think I will raise my limit if I need to. Is there anything else that you can recommend, such as EasyClickTravel? I will spend what I need to because I won't cancel my trip. I sure would like a great deal somewhere though. Thank You.
  16. I went ahead a bid $129 for a 5* for 4/29-5/1 and got a counter offer of $268 per night per room. So I guess they do have availability. No savings over the Venetian web site at that price though. I didn't try bidding up with any free rebids yet. Any ideas?
  17. I use Priceline all the time and I usually post my wins here. But now I need some advice please. I need two rooms for 4/29-5/1, Sat. and Sun. nights. I have always gotten the Venetian in the past, but that has usually been midweek at $99. The Venetian website lists both my nights at $279. Hotwire doesn't show any 5* availability for my dates; I checked both nights separately. Do you think PL will have inventory for 5*? I have never bid 4* for Las Vegas but would consider it. Although I would really prefer staying on the strip. I would like to stay at $400 for each room total for the two nights. I have noticed most hotel sites have substantially lower rates for Sunday. I also know that many hotels wont allow a Saturday check-in. Any ideas for me? Thank you!
  18. My fiance bid for the same night at $100 and was counter offered at $137. I am also trying for 5/9-5/12 but have been rejected up to $115. We stayed at the Renaissance Amsterdam last summer and enjoyed it thoroughly. Hope I can get the same hotel for my other dates. I used the SavingsBarn.com link
  19. Was bidding for both DFW North and DFW South. Last rejected bid was for $75. Marriott DFW was very nice for a 3*. The lowest rate on the Marriott website was $229 for this night. Used the SavingsBarn.com link.
  20. OK, now I get it. I was bidding in $5 increments. $125 was rejected and $130 was my next bid that was accepted.
  21. Thanks for the tip, I will remember that next time. I was in a hurry trying to beat the 6pm cut-off and didn't notice the lack of the shuttle icon.
  22. I just looked at the Omni Mandalay web site and it shows that this hotel is 20 minutes from DFW and they charge $15 for their airport shuttle. I learned a hard lesson I guess. I won't ever use Hotwire for a DFW airport hotel again. I always assume airport zones are close to the airport, I didn't do my research here. Hope the hotel is worth it.
  23. I had been rejected up to $130 for both Galleria and Downtown. I had started at $50 and used free re-bids up to $90 the first time. Then I started higher and bid up to $130 with no success. Then I decided to start a new bid with the DFW North zone. I began at $90 with that zone and finally won at $130. Does this answer your question? I thought I had put that in my original post but maybe I wasn't clear, sorry. I just posted a Hotwire win in that forum for the DFW zone and learned the hard way that their definition of an airport zone is much larger than Priceline's. I will have a 20 minute drive to the airport from the Omni Mandalay. I won't use Hotwire again for DFW airport hotels. Thanks for this valuable website, I send lots of people here to learn about Priceline and Hotwire.
  24. Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center Omni Mandalay Hotel 221 East Las Colinas Blvd. Irving, Texas 75039 (972) 556-0800 Omni website had the lowest rate of $239. This was a last minute reservation, I booked it at 5:58pm on the day of arrival. I had bid on Priceline for their 4* DFW North up to $90 with no luck right before I booked this room. Paid $74 plus taxes for a total of $89.16 Used SavingsBarn.com link.
