  1. Sorry about that... check in 7/17 check out 7/18 Priceline also offered to "extend my stay" at the same rate. (For whatever that's worth.)
  2. My first bid for a 2.5* for Pittsburgh- airport was accepted for $30 ($42 after taxes and fees). PLUS: "Congratulations, you got your price of $30 for a hotel room, and we've upgraded your hotel quality level to a 3-star hotel! " Four Points Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport First time that's ever happened to me.
  3. $140/night is what we are currently budgeting. I'm not big on splitting the stay up, so all 4 nights in one spot is preferable. Thanks
  4. Hi everyone! I'm going to Vegas 9/21-9/25 and want to stay on the strip in a 4* or 5*, but I really don't want to stay at the Westin. So far all of my bids have been for 5* since it looks like the Westin is now a 4*. Is there even a way to bid for 4* and make sure not to get the Westin? Any advice? BTW - bids: 5* strip - $99 (rejected) 5* strip + nellis - $109 (rejected) 5* strip + nellis + Henderson - $119 (rejected) 5* strip + nellis + Henderson + convention - $129 (rejected) Thanks!
  5. So sorry! My winning bid was for the Thistle Marble Arch.
  6. I goofed using priceline! Meant to check Mayfair, but checked Marble Arch instead. So my first bid of $100 was immediately accepted. The good news is I got a decent hotel at less than I could find on the discount websites. The bad news is when I look at other bids I still WAY over paid! 11/22 - 11/25 London - Marble Arch - 4* 1st bid $100 - accepted
  7. Hi everyone. I just got back from Vegas and had mixed results with the tipping trick. Stayed one night at the Wynn where the tipping worked like a champ. We were able to check in before 10 am and got an upgraded room (fantastic view). Tried it at Caesar's, things did not go so well. Got a room upgrade for a fraction of the cost (good) and able to check in 3 hours early. However the room was smoking and far away from everything we asked for. Ended up switching rooms, the clerk who originally helped us (and got tipped) was not available to help us with the switching. Took quite a bit of doing, but ended up getting the room we wanted. Tipped the clerk when all was said and done. The clerk then said he felt bad, he had done everything he could and he wished he could do more (only gave him $5). Overall, I would try the tipping trick again. I would just get a better feel for the clerk first.
  8. Not sure if this is something you would be interested in, but I just booked the Rio Suites for $95 a night! (EasyClickTravel) I will be in vegas 9/22-9/26, so I'm sure that you would be able to get a similar rate for your stay. Enjoy and good luck!
  9. Thanks! Actually, I booked the Monte Carlo as a fall back:) Last year was our most expensive in Vegas when we booked the Aladdin for $110 a night (same weekend). We were hoping to find a similar deal. Ideally, we'd like to average between $100-$150 a night. As to what I would consider a deal... It usually means whatever I can find that is at or below whatever the hotel is advertising for that weekend. (Silly, I know, but it makes me feel better.)
  10. We are going to Vegas 9/22 - 9/26. Every year we try to stay at a different "big name" strip hotel. (We've conquered most of downtown already.) Every year we've been able to find a good deal at one of the resorts. This year however, I can't seem to find ANY deals for that weekend. I know one of the problems is we are unwilling to split the stay. Another is we already have air and a car lined up, so we don't need a package deal. Does anyone have any suggestions?
