  1. Thank you very much for the research offer. Out of left field, my brother scored the Residence Inn Denver City Center for 188.10 through Southwest Vacations, which was right in line with the HW prices we were seeing and, of course, a sure thing. I did my research by clicking through here, so hopefully the site gets something out of that. Thanks again.
  2. I was trying to ID and book somewhere for an upcoming trip on May 26-28 and frankly trying to get either the Westin or Residence Inn Denver City Center, but couldn't find the Downtown - Central list of hotels here, only the "Greater Downtown" list. That's an official HW zone as well, so I figured non of the "Central" properties would be on that list. Any advice?
  3. Amenities listed as: FULL AMENITIES: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Airport shuttle, Fitness center, Business center, Internet access, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking They stated 95% satisfaction as well, but I'm not sure that's a reliable tracking mechanism. As always, I started here and used the BiddingHelper.com easy mode to copy the above amenity set as well as to make the reservation. Thanks, as always, BetterBidding!
  4. Free Internet Boutique hotel Business center Fitness center Pool(s) Internet Access As always, started with your HOTWIRE link and was targeting this Aloft property. Love you guys, was otherwise staring $199 in the face for a 2-queen guarantee. I just got 2 rooms instead with 1-king each. Thanks again!
  5. Bid once at $67 for two rooms, single night. I didn't really want to bid around. Maybe I could have scored a better rate, but I was hoping to one-and-done and I did. Thanks, BB and everyone, for guiding my first bid to be a winner. BTW, I was trying to Hotwire the Hyatt Place, but between them showing me a rate and trying twice (and failing twice) to execute the purchase, the price climbed from $68 / night to $90 / night for the same "all-suite" described room. The second time was particularly insulting, as they showed me a rate, I instantly clicked buy, and then they told me I had an expired offer. Jerks. Anyway, c'est la vie. Thanks again everyone, and happy bidding.
  6. Good evening! We have returned (survived) and had a great time. Thank you, thank you, thank you for offering the suggestion to not stay at the convention hotel. Many of my wife's colleagues were moaning about the lack of "to do" around the hotel and, frankly, in that hotel itself. La Concha was incredible. We ended up renting a van with her corporate rate (great rate) and driving was, as you offered, quite aggressively interesting. The road (Calle) signage left MUCH to be desired. La Casita Blanca was delicious. Well, mine was anyway. My MIL's and wife's weren't that tremendous. I had the pocadillo criollo (sp?), though, and it was amazing. We'd also recommend Pinky's for breakfast and a place out by the airport, Metropol, which was at least as good if not better. More of a churrasca place, fwiw. Oh, and this little 24-hour place right off the highway - Degetau Seafood; looks rough, but the carne frite con tostones was out of this world. Anyway, just wanted to thank you again. We had no trouble with extra cribs and guests with La Concha. We actually ended up in a partial-ocean-view room with a kitchenette and everything. Quite a steal. see you next time, -dmk
  7. That all makes perfect sense. It's certainly a pain to lug along all that stuff (it will be our second full-family trip), but your point about familiarity is true. At the same time, we don't use child seats on buses and trains. I was hopeful that by avoiding a rental car (and its associated costs and troubles), we might locate a simpler ground transportation method. Seems like that's not in the cards. How about limo service? Sometimes that has made financial sense for us (three couples in Vegas from McCarren to the strip), etc. Any experience there? Considering we're larger than a standard cab anyway, I imagine a single hired car both ways might compete with multiple cabs...
  8. I will (we hope)! Thank you for the lovely meal suggestion. That looks incredible and a welcome relief to what I'm sure will become somewhat-routine hotel-area food. I see that it'll be about a 12-minute cab from La Concha. No biggie there. That does bring up a little debate we're having here, though. How much should we bring for car seats? Obviously we'll have seats as we arrive at the airport, but we're unsure of whether or not to bring her convertible (a huge RXT by Diono) and his Keyfit 30 / base) or not. I believe she's ok on the flight and he'll be a lap child anyway. But, once we're there? I was leaning towards hiring a bigger car rather than take two cabs, since cost will be similar and we'll be six with too much luggage anyway. Long text for a short question - do any of you have any experience with traveling with kids in this regard? Would it be easy enough to find local transportation with car seats? thanks again, all
  9. Regular $343/night FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Resort, Near beach, Casino, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking $10/night resort fee Tripadvisor 4.5/5.0, Hotwire, 100% 5.0, 180 reviews
  10. Once again, you have helped tremendously. I went with the two rooms @ $252/night option. Frankly, having the in laws in the same property and within walking distance of what we'll be doing all day and evening outweighed my wife's inconvenient commuting to the conference hotel a couple of times a day. Easier to move one adult than one adult and two children. As you estimated, the property was, in fact, La Concha - A Renaissance Resort. Booking through the Renaissance website would have been $5,930.77. My total was $4233.71. Add a hundred bucks to cancel my conference hotel deposit, and we're still up a bunch. Thank you very much! I see that the $233/night option remains after I've bought the two rooms. Oh well, taking that risk could have saved me $228 (252-233) x 6 nights x 2 rooms, but honestly if I hadn't been able to get us both rooms at the same property, I would been in quite a pickle. The security was worth the money to me. This is a long-winded thank you win report. Of course I booked through your links, and I will be back again the next time!
  11. How wonderful. I didn't know about the BiddingHelper.com tool. I'll be using that regularly going forward. Well, we're in the home stretch of this unfortunate marathon. La Conca looks quite lovely. So much so, that I'm starting to lean towards your first instinct in responding to this thread that we should punt entirely on the Sheraton Casino and try to get both rooms at a beachfront resort like La Concha with more in walking distance (less isolated like the Sheraton seems to be). Of course, now when I add a second room and a child the 4*, $233 goes away. If I just do two rooms, two adults, I see the same amenity set for that 4*, but the price rises to $252. I can tolerate that, but am a little concerned about the kids. What do you think? [amenity set, as before, for both cases is: FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Resort, Near beach, Casino, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking]
  12. Well, my wife and I have let this slip far too long. We've still got out reservation at the conference property, but have just now really tried to firm up something for her folks. Pardon me for reviving an old thread, but I took your previous advice to heart and have been looking for something that wasn't necessarily nearest the Sheraton casino but rather nearer more full-time entertainment for the rest of us. That said, I'm currently looking at the following search result and would appreciate your best guess on property ID: same dates, 4/5-4/11, searched for 1 room, 1 adult, no children 4*, Condado area, $233/night (reg. $343) Free Internet Resort Near Beach Casino Smoke-free rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center $10/night resort fee Tripadvisor 4.5/5.0, Hotwire, 100% 5.0, 180 reviews Thank you very much for your continued assistance. I, of course and as always, began the aforementioned search with your HOTWIRE link and will perform the booking on the same. [btw, I've hedged my bets here and reserved the Holiday Inn Express (no fee cancel) with my AAA at $137/night just to be sure everyone has a bed to sleep in, lol]
  13. It is a conference that only my wife (from our group) is attending. The rest of us will be vacationing and providing child care to my two little ones. As always, we're not looking to empty the bank, but we are aware that if you're choosy, you pay to be so. I'd like to keep it under $200, but I'd also like a pool and not to worry about my 2yo if we decide to visit the beach.
  14. When I started this thread, I had searched as the former - 2 rooms, 2 adults, 1 child. I have just repeated the search using the more accurate latter - 2 rooms, 4 adults, 1 child. "Hotel 1" remains when I modify the search to 4 adults, 1 child from 2 adults, 1 child at $116 w/ same amenities. "Hotel 2" disappears when I modify the search to 4 adults, 1 child from 2 adults, 1 child. Interestingly, "Hotel 2" reappears when I search 3 adults, 1 child. I wonder why that is. Honesltly, I'd rather book the conference hotel if I could find a way to do so. It's the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino, but it seems to be quite sold out for these dates. It's a shame I couldn't reserve earlier, but life happens as we all know. Thanks for your help, thereuare. I very much appreciate your time and expertise and will obviously be linking out from here to book as always once I locate a solution.
  15. I typed in "2 rooms, 2 adults, 1 child" into the search bar. I intend to bring more folks total, with that being the "per room" approximate loading. It was unnecessary info for this forum, pardon me. -dmk
  16. Good evening, all, and thanks again in advance for your help. My family is heading to the convention center in San Juan for a conference, and we are late booking a room so the conference blocks are all gone at the Hyatts and Sheratons. HW is listing the following two hotels of interest for our party of 2 rooms, 2 adults, 1 child (which is more accurately 2 adults in one room and 2 adults, 1 2 year old, and 1 3 month old in the second room). Hotel 1: 3*, $116/night (reg $151), 90% recommended, Booked 7 times today Free Internet Business center, Fitness center, Near beach, Pool(s), Self-service laundry, Smoke-free rooms, Spa services no mention of bed type Hotel 2: 4*, $221/night (reg $299), 70% recommended, Booked 5 times today Free Internet Airport shuttle, Business center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Self-service laundry, Smoke-free rooms In-room accessibility 1 full bed or hotel chooses bed type for same price Thoughts? Looking forward to your insight.
  17. As always, booked via the HOTWIRE link from betterbidding.com. (which helped me learn that this would be either Westin or Hyatt - thanks again, BB!) Pet friendly Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Restaurant(s) Business center Internet access Spa services Accessible for visually impaired Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Accessible parking Roll-in shower $75 / night, taxes and fees up to $96.59 / night.
  18. After logging in and using your Bidding.Helper Hotwire tool, I saw the following amenity set: Free InternetResortPet friendlyNear BeachFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterSelf service laundryInternet accessGolf NearbyTennis NearbySpa ServicesAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deafAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityAccessible bathroomHandicapped parkingRoll-in showerSearching the forums led me to believe this may be the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, and lo and behold it was! Thanks again, BetterBidding. You guys are the best. The Hyatt site wanted $219 per night, btw.
  19. My wife and I are heading to Naples 5/16/13 - 5/21/13. After perusing your Florida Hotwire 4* listings, I was stoked to be getting (I thought) the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa, but in fact I ended up with The Waldorf Astoria Naples. The TripAdvisor reviews have me a little skittish at this point, but we'll see how it all turns out. In the end, I'm paying $97 a night (plus $30 resort fee, I'm sure) for what the Waldorf website lists as a ~$350/night room. Crossing my fingers! The HW listing was: 4-star Hotel in Naples This Hotel features the following amenities: Resort Free Parking Near Beach Smoke Free Rooms Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower In retrospect, HW did tell me about the resort's $30/day resort fee. Hyatt only collects $25 or so, and perhaps that was a big red flag I should have noticed. Happy bidding, everyone!
  20. I do love this website. By browsing previous topics (namely this previous hotwire win), I was fairly sure that this description: 3.5-star Hotel in Lambert Intl Airport STL This Hotel features the following amenities: Indoor pool(s) Airport Shuttle Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby would be the Hilton St. Louis Airport, which suited my travel needs perfectly. I clicked BUY, and lo and behold, it was in fact the Hilton St. Louis Airport. Thanks again, BetterBidding. I tell everyone I know to utilize this resource, and of course I began my purchase by clicking on one of your HOTWIRE links above! This is my first post using your new (to me) "POST HOTEL WIN" button. Thanks for making this even easier, guys!
  21. Clicked on the HOTWIRE link from BB like usual. For 10/26/12-10/27/12, the listed Amenities for $68/night listed were: Indoor pool(s) Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Free Parking Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Pulled the trigger and was greeted with: Four Points by Sheraton Peoria Downtown Midscale See ratings guide 500 Hamilton Blvd., Peoria, IL, 61602 Thanks again, BB, for providing the service you do. -dmk
  22. The stay was quite nice. As others have mentioned, parking just a block north of the hotel (Mansion House garage) is the way to go. Weekend rates were $3/night instead of H's options of $20-$36 self / valet. Room was lovely, although no Arch view. C'est la vie, we weren't in there very long anyway. We walked to Scottrade to see the Blues play, and it was a nice, brisk, 10-15 minute walk. Easy walk to Laclede's landing, and right there by a Metrolink stop as well. Thanks again to this forum - what a terrific resource.
  23. I was not. That said, I've now gone ahead and booked the HW 4-star that somehow dropped from $61 to $60 while this thread has been discussed. Go figure. It turned out to be... Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch 315 Chestnut St, Saint Louis, MO, 63102 4-star Hotel in Downtown St. Louis This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Not too shabby for $60, when hotel.com wants $79 for the same thing. Thanks again to everyone responding, and best of luck to everyone booking. -dmk
  24. Hah, and while I after I hit "Reply" and then refreshed the HW page, I see this guy come up at 3* / $52: --- Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), High-Speed Internet Access Recommended: In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews. --- Again, TIA for your time, -dmk
  25. I see. Can you comment on how this may compare to HW's other offering at 3.5* / $63: --- Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center Recommended: In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews. --- If that is the Drury down there by the Arch, I'd sure pull the trigger on it instead (their free snacks / drinks are handy, lol). thanks again for your time and experience, -dmk
