  1. Wanted to follow-up and give a small warning to potential bidders. This property is behind a Holiday Inn Express, and shares their towels and staff, but is not nearly as nice. Rooms are spartan, not close to 2.5 stars. The ambience is dismal and long overdue for a facelift. If you are simply looking for a reasonably clean place to crash before a flight out of SFO, this will do, but do not be deceived, it is nothing more than this. Beds are uncomfortable and water pressure is poor. I was traveling with kids and had to pay a $20 upcharge for two beds. It does have free parking and wireless. I did not look at the breakfast because I knew good places nearby. While the airport shuttle worked well, be aware that you are 5-6 miles away from SFO. Bidders Beware.
  2. Was not expecting this property. Saw there was a 2.5 star in San Mateo as a PRICELINE EXPRESS Bid at $57 and thought it was the Holiday Inn Express in San Mateo. The Express property had free parking and internet while this does not. Perhaps should have taken the Express deal. Live and learn. Originally bid at 48, added Burlington and won at 51. Used your PRICELINE link.
  3. Was aiming for this hotel given success other BetterBidding users enjoyed. Started at 60, re-bid at 66, won at 69. No other 3.5 stars are in the area so rebidding worked well. But of course, I used your PRICELINE link.
  4. Started looking for 3.5 stars at $60 on these dates and kept adding zones and increasing the bid by $3 until I reached $75. Decided to start over the following day at 3 stars at $40 and won after raising $2 per zone and then changing to $1 raises knowing I would likely get something around $50 given past postings. Pleased with location and price (plus free parking) given that I am traveling with kids to look at colleges. Used your PRICELINE link.
  5. Needed two rooms for a quick trip from Vienna. Decided that *4 on the Buda side would fit my needs. First bid $45 and was offered a counteroffer at $59. Decided I was close, so raised to $50, added the Pest side and won. But of course, I started with your PRICELINE link.
  6. Thanks! Report from the family was that this is indeed a very nice property. Upside was that there was no charge for parking (their website says $6) and they allowed my SPG membership for free internet access. Only downside was that due to the extensive highway construction in the area, getting in and out by car was a headache. Oh, and I did use the site's PRICELINE link.
  7. Was hoping for the Embassy Suites, but should still work well for my family. Originally bid at $51, was told to accept $65, added another Falls Church zone at won at $54.
  8. First bid $37. A hotel not on the "pinned" list. Happy with the price and used your PRICELINE link. We'll see about the quality of the property.
  9. Got the place I wanted. Tried at $65 and was told to bid $20 higher, added a re-bid zone instead and won. Saw others winning at this level, so I am pleased. Not far from the sights I want to see in LA. Used BB's PRICELINE link.
  10. Started bidding Costa Mesa/Irving *4 at $55 per night for 5 nights. I also used $3 of Priceline bonus cash. Added Huntington Beach-Newport Beach at upped bid to $58 plus the $3 from Priceline for $61 total and won. Fairly pleased. Have stayed many times at the nearby Westin. This is a good price though valet parking here is a bitch. Any suggestions from the broader BB community most welcome. Used BB's PRICELINE link.
  11. This took about a week to win and I ended up raising my bid by ten bucks at the end to have a place to sleep the next next night. I wanted a four-star in the city center and thought I would win Le Meridien. Started at $85 and raised bids by five dollars each day. Occasionally, I would add the Vienna South zone or split the days of my stay, without luck. I knew I was close to winning, several times Priceline had asked me to raise my bid by 30 dollars and rebid. Eventually, I won the Vienna Hilton. Used the site's PRICELINE link. Turned out to be a nice win because the hotel is one block from the CAT train that takes travelers directly to and from the airport. That saved the need for a taxi which run about $40 euros each way. Train is just 9 euros and very nice. Walking to the ring slip or into the city center is a snap. Thanks BB!
  12. Bid 3* at $44 yesterday with no luck, only in Chapel Hill zone. Bid again today 3* at $49 and won Sheraton Chapel Hill, a 3.5*. Good price for the property so it should be a nice stay.
  13. Planned to bid lower at 2.5* (no high star level existed) but Priceline warned that bids at that level were rarely accepted, so I moved up in price to $74.00, the point at which the annoying red type went away. Priceline considered my bid for about 10 minutes before responding it had been accepted. Not a lot of choices in this area, so I feel alright about the property and the price, especially given it is a holiday week. Used your PRICELINE link, naturally. Thanks BB!
  14. The day before travelling, I sought the Hotel Indigo or another 3* property in Wading River-Riverhead section of Long Island, bid $75 and was rejected. Not much history in this zone, only posted win was during high season at $200 per night. Knew I had a better shot at the airport, bid $52 for 2.5* and won 3* Holiday Inn. Not a bad property but probably a 2.5 star place in reality. Might have been able to bid lower but did not want to risk rejection as I did not want to stay in other zones. Of course, used the BETTERBIDDING PRICELINE link.
  15. Started using the PRICELINE link. Miscalculated attempting to book Albany for upcoming Friday night stay. Saw recent wins at 72 for three star. Started at $55 and kept adding zones until I reached $70. Still no win. Lowered to 2.5 stars and bid $72, did not believe there were 2.5 hotels available, but alas I found one. :)
  16. Problem is UN General Assembly taking place during that period. Many heads of state visiting with their staffs and diplomats. They can pay whatever.
  17. I knew that I wanted to stay in this zone given that I liked the hotels available through Priceline. Tried over several days, at $55 was told to rebid $15 higher. The next day bid $57 and was again told to rebid $15 higher. Today bid $60 and won Aloft, normally rate is x3 higher. Naturally, I used your PRICELINE link. Thanks BB!
  18. Used betterbidding's PRICELINE link. Started with Resorts in North Scottsdale bidding $71 and seeking two rooms. Second bid added Scottsdale and *4 hotels bidding $75. Won the Scottsdale Plaza Resort, good price for the high season, but perhaps should have bid more conservatively leaving *4 out. Still, should be a good stay.
  19. Used betterbidding's PRICELINE link. Was aiming for *3 near Disney in Garden Grove because they did not seem to have extra costs (i.e., parking and internet) while still being hospitable for a family of four. We plan to go to Disney on the fifth. First bid, $41, rejected. (Was told I could rebid for $12 more). Added Seal Beach, $45, rejected (bid this because there does not seem to be anything below *4). Added Anaheim hills, 47, won Residence Inn Anaheim Hills-Yorba Linda. Was surprised to win this because I did not think there were *3 or above in this area. Not too disappointed because it fills the bill for what I was looking for, free breakfast, free internet, free parking. Downside is that I will have to drive a bit further but it should be ok given the positives and the price. You'll probably want to add this to the "Pinned" priceline hotel list. Thanks BB.
  20. Used your PRICELINE link. I had been looking further south in Dana Point and Carlsbad without success bidding up to $100.00. I stayed at this Westin several times over the past 10 years using both Hotwire and Priceline. Its a very nice hotel with a convenient location next to the South Coast Plaza which pleases my teenage daughter. I lower my price using by adding this zone and re-bid at $61 and voila. It should be a nice stay though I will be driving a little further.
  21. Won on first bid 3.5 stars downtown Philadelphia at 63.00. Seems like a deal. Used the PRICELINE link.
  22. Won two rooms for a weekend stay. Pleased with the price, will let you know what I think of the hotel. Used the PRICELINE link.
  23. Decided on a last minute road trip and needed a place for an overnight. First bid was Scranton at $44, 2.5 star. Then added Wilkes-Barre and upped price to $48 and won. I used the PRICELINE link from betterbidding.com. Holiday Inn Express Wilkes Barre East 1063 Highway 315 Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania 18702 570-825-3838
  24. My wife reports that she was given an upgrade to a larger oceanfront room upon check-in. She was very happy with the room and her stay.
  25. Used PRICELINE link from Betterbidding. First bid was *3 and $61 and won. Pleased with price as it seemed below the norm, but it is offseason. Needed a night before moving into a condo for a week. Yeah baby.
